The results are in, Skyward Sword has beaten Skyrim. And speaking as someone who has not bought a Wii game in a year since getting an xbox 360, I have one thing to say. "Good job." Rattle on about how unoriginal Nintendo is, but in reality Skyrim is part of a long running series too, and if more people liked Skyward Sword instead of Skyrim, then they won fair and square. It was close anyway, 51% to 49%. Well played Nintendo, I may have left you but I can see that you presence over the decades has not faltered. Let's see if you can take it all the way, Assassin's creed is all that stands between them and the title of Game of the Year.

P.S. Skyrim has a bunch of problems anyway, it's fun VERY fun, but far from perfection. Don't get me wrong though I still give it a double thumbs up.

Huh? Results of what exactly?

OT: Uh... actually I can't really say anything OT because I don't know what you're referring to. Could someone clarify please? Sorry for being uninformed...

Um...

Last I checked, Legend of Zelda is a long running series as well, and has many fans who are absolutely obsessed with the series.

A veeeeery long running series. The fact it beat out Skyrim for sales isn't much of a surprise, especially considering the company has been going on far longer than Bethesda has, so they have a lot more experience, followers, and money under their belt than Bethesda does. I'm personally more a fan of the Elder Scrolls series than any of the Legend of Zelda games, but that's just my own opinion.

Not to mention Skyrim isn't/shouldn't be (legally) accessible to minors. It's visceral, bloody, and very violent, and with Skyward Sword being the more family-friendly option, there will be more purchases of it for Christmas gifts, birthdays, and whatnot. Thus, you're putting the two "contenders" on an uneven, and unfair playing field.

The only real relation these two games have would be in the effect of they are games, and they both are set in a similar time period. But really, the similarities stop there. If anything, you would be better off comparing Skyrim to something more like Mass Effect, Dead Island, or Deus Ex.

Great contest, Dead Space 2 winning over Infamous 2, Gears winning over Resistance 3, and the fact that Skyward sword won over Skyrim...

And the matching system is really weird, it's just, well, weird to match games like that.

So, who cares really? Why should I care? Who should anyone care?
You cared enough to comment didn't you?

Zelda just has a massive fanbase. Putting it in a competition like that, especially somewhere as big as G4, is nearly unfair to the other games. I'm just glad Skyrim made it close, I don't think Revelations will even get 40% of the final vote.

Ah, thankyou.

Hm, I have to say that result surprises me. I've not really heard anything about Skyward Sword, but I guess that makes sense since most people here are PC gamers. I've never actually played a Zelda game for longer than about 20 minutes, so maybe I should pick this one up. My Wii has been sitting around gathering dust for far too long...

Umm, no? Just because you comment something doesn't mean you care about it? What the hell are you trying to say?
Personally if I don't care about something I don't take the time to write a comment about it. That's it.

From what I've seen and heard about Skyrim from my Elder Scrolls obsesses friend and from my experience beating Skyward Sword the last 2 weeks, I can see this happening. It all depends on what you like in a game. I like strategy, puzzles, and combat which are all in Skyward Sword. Well, strategy kinda is, but the puzzles definitely are, and that's what draws me to Zelda.

So there is another site somewhere with another audience. Given the number of topics about Skyrim on the Escapist, I think Skyward Sword would have been absolutely crushed if a poll was held here.

So G4 is suddenly the irrefutable be all end all of video gaming? I prefer forming my own opinions.

Played both, like Skyrim more.

YES! I mean, good for Nintendo, they deserved it for the first time in at least 4 or 5 years in my opinion.
