Except I doubt this'll pioneer any new gaming techniques that promise to become staples of future game design, to compensate for its shittiness.Skullkid4187 said:This generation's Birth of a Nation?
It makes sense, most children wouldn't even realize why a game like this would be so controversal, but adults would.Twilight_guy said:Huh, I wonder why its rated AO. Maybe its just "slavery is bad, mkay" but that's a terrible reason. Anyways, slavery is bad and all but once if divorce the highly charged notion of slavery from the equation then this is just a sim game with what looks like luke warm and boring gameplay. The only thing it has going for it so far is shock value. Not a good way to make games.
I'm not sure if it was high budget or not,but there was already a game that trolled people.Dumbfish1 said:high budget trolling.
So, it's a BDSM game because it's unrealistic? Does that mean that half-life 2 is a porno game?Uriel-238 said:Yeah, the AO rating is why I figured it was a BDSM game; a historic mercantile game wouldn't be so harshly rated just for the cargo. Furthermore, a slave-trade business management sim wouldn't need one to personally discipline their slaves. Also the whip and scourge are implements of discipline (used on a restrained subject) as opposed to the rifle and saber, used generally against armed and unrestrained foes. They wouldn't belong in the same arsenal.
Did anyone notice the 20th century handcuffs? This is looking more and more like anachronism stew.
A real slave-trade game would be about planning your ports of call, between Europe (manufactured goods) Africa (Slaves) and the Americas (Rum, Molasses, Sugar, etc.), and whether you'd sell ordinary (untrained) slaves to North America, or season them through Jamaica and then sell them in the Caribbean. In short, the part about selling slaves would be slightly more controversial than selling rum and tobacco, in that the icon on your ship's roster would be different.
No. This is a silly, silly trolling device to agitate game-haters and oppressed minorities. Hopefully, it will be outed before such groups get played.

Curses! You've caught me!thelonewolf266 said:I am more disgusted by the use of "weather" in the place of "whether" than the concept of a slave-trader game but then again I'm a bad person and does it really take that much effort to put an h at the end of "yea".Hawk eye1466 said:I don't know weather to make a joke about how my first thought was not to choose a weapon that would cause lasting harm or just wonder why someone would be messed up enough to make this game.
On second thought yea this is a pretty fucked up game
