OH, SHUT UP!
It's just a game. Nobody is going to be hurt by this. If there is a market for this game then let people buy it.

Would certainly be interesting if they did a game about slavery. But I think it would be less tacky if it was played in the role of a fugitive slave or maybe just be some story-based game instead of a tychon-style game where the objective is to make money off of slavery.
Not that its bad but its kinda like making a game where you play as a Nazi scientist in a concentration camp and score points by making new discoveries with human experiments, its just tacky.

I actually want to play this game. I'm dead serious, it sounds like it could be an awesome simulator and I'll preorder it if they seem to have the mechanics right in more detailed gameplay trailers. Why does everything have to be politically correct nowadays? We used to have slavery in games, in Frontier you could make a living hauling slaves and selling them on the black market in systems where it was restricted, heck in Privateer you could scoop up escape pods and sell the occupants.

Now I don't support slave trading in real life, but I also don't support killing people and that's something else I do in video games. A game about transporting human cargo could be a very interesting simulation, a trading game where you have to balance profit and keeping your slaves healthy and in good condition. Not to mention discipline and revolts, and juggling guards and avoiding authorities if you're trying to get a lucrative black market sell. It certainly sounds a lot better than yet another shooter where you play Generic Marine Patriot #483 and go to yet another Dust map clone to fight turrists.

Despite how atrocious the subject matter is, I can't wait to see how Fox News will handle this.

This is a real game.

At first, I thought this might be an eager game depicting the plight of slaves in an adventure game sense. Maybe an history education game. But NOPE, check out the insane trailer:

Except for the hilarious Wilhelm scream, this game's goals are in really bad taste. "BECOME THE MOST POWERFUL SLAVETRADER". o_O

Oh yeah, it's rated AO, comes out in Spring 2012.
It is fake.

Why?

That rifle was WW1 era bolt action rifle, NOT the muzzle loading muskets they had in the 17 century.

Looks like a joke to me, but shit, there's really nothing any worse here than other violent games

How's this bad? Has everyone already forgotten Dantes Inferno?

Anyway, I would consider bying it if it was just a twist off of all those unfun economic games.

You fucking hypocrites.
Nothing wrong with running around New York mowing down innocent civilians or generally just executing people left and right.
New Deus Ex game is getting flak for stereotypes, not being rewarded for breaking people's arms and legs and then punching them in the face.

But gods forbid they make a game about slavery, how utterly distasteful!
Yes, but those are in fictional invornments. This was real.

In real life, You can't just bring a machinegun to a metropolis, kill 50 people, and expect to esacpe- Games like that are just low entertainment, which some people find fun.

But this, this is real. This happened. These people were tourchered for nothing, in an unfair and unjust world. And it still happens today.
WW2 games.
What else you got?

Also, suggesting that a war game based on a real war is fiction because it doesn't contain any real people, whilst claiming that a game based on slavery is not, suggests that you think all slaves are just nameless things, and that even if the game doesn't name a single historical slave, a fictional one is essentially the same as real one.

That's sort of racist.
Slaves weren't just an abstract concept, they were actual people.
Oh the irony. You stood up for this game, and you try to turn the table on me saying that I support slavery? Nice job at entirely missing a point, dumbass.

WW2 games never showed things like the holocost, they show WAR. It is an acceptable part of history, not that it is right, But it is better than treating a human as nothing. And I wasn't speaking about fucking World War 2 games, I was talking about games like Grand Theft Auto- Clear your eyes and see beyond the smoke and mirrors. Most things dipected in World War 2 games never even happened. Yes, WW2 is real, but the battles are streched so far that it no longer contains realism.

That's all I have to say to you. I don't feel like getting reported for feeding the trolls.
Haha! I never said you support slavery, I said you're racist. There's a huge difference.
ALL of history is an acceptable part if history, including the holocaust AND slavery. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it didn't happen, or that we should pretend like it never did.
You're saying WW2 games aren't realistic because the specific battles didn't take place or weren't as accurate as you'd like. Well the specific slave trades that this game would portray never took place either.
So your argument falls short there.

Your entire opinion against it is your own bias and subjective view. It's not based in reason or logic in the slightest.
My opinion however, is.
If I can accept games that depict war, terrorism, and organized crime, then I have to accept games that depict slavery, the holocaust, and whatever else you have.
Because otherwise I'd be a hypocrite, and there can be no worse human being in this world than a hypocrite.

I actually think this game could potentially be a good thing. If such subject matter can be explored in a novel or a film, then as long as it's well done an artist has every right to explore that dark chapter of human history in a game and could perhaps be even more effective by putting you in the shoes of a slaver.
