I don't see the point in it, so I don't do it. I fail to see the appeal in any drugs, including alcohol.

I don't need things to give me a temporary feel good or relax me. I definitely don't need those things at the cost of my health.

I agree. Here in Japan there are all these new 'smoke free' zones being introduced but it seems that old men and 'wannabe gangster/popstar' guys think the signs mean 'free to smoke'. Japan has some of the worst smoking manners I have ever seen. Some young bugger lit up in the subway a few days ago. I reminded him how it had been non smoking for years and he answered me with mystery in his voice, 'so desu ka?'.

The way I look at it is this:
Me no smoking does nothing to harm anyone (harm, not 'put out'). Therefore, smoking and walking down a narrow Japanese street, stinking it up for 100 metres behind you, is offensive.

PS: thumbs up for not writing 'could care less'. ;)

I hate smoking because its gross, everything thing about it is disgusting and I lose a ton of respect for people who smoke.

I used to smoke. It was kinda nice. But then I realised that I was spending 100 bucks (NZ) a week on cigarettes (two pouches, four packs of filters and papers). So I stopped. Never worried me that I stopped.

If you want to smoke - go ahead. But remember when you get some kind of smoking related disease - your fault

It seems like a pretty expensive habit. Though I suppose that's only if you're a hardcore smoker. Still, it's not something I really want to try.

So what do you do when the smoke gets into your hair? I dont smoke, but my dad does. He usually smokes in the bathroom right before i need to do my buisness, so when i run in to drop some wastes i have to stand the smell. This smell doesn't leave me for a little while, it gets stuck on my clothes and my hair.

And i hope my lungs are OK from all the secondhand.

I smoke clove cigarettes because I really, really enjoy the taste. However, I usually only smoke one every 1-3 weeks, and if my rate of smoking them goes up, or I start smoking them as stress relief, then I put the pack in the freezer and forget about them.

I had two on Saturday, so I won't be smoking any more for a long time after this pack's gone. I don't intend to get addicted, which will be easier for me since I only like imported Djarum Blacks, not the crappy cigar-types they sell here now.

Expensive, potentially deadly to both yourself and to those around you, and just generally questionable. Yeah, not a fan of smoking.

Tried smoking at one point, didn't take (which I'm glad for, no idea what I was thinking starting) but I do smoke cigars and a pipe but on a a semi daily basis, probably going to be daily now with the good weather though. I definitely enjoy those so I might be able to see where you're coming from but I did not enjoy the cigs I had, which actually were Marlboro Smooth 100's...

^ This is pretty right on. I don't care what you wanna do by yourself, but some people don't want their lungs filled with smoke, so yea. Don't do it publicly.

Cover up the smell? LIAR! It means everyone else has a shitty nose, but I will know. I know all there is to smell...

You are killing yourself in a drawn out way that harms everyone around you. Thanks a fucking lot you conceited idiot. And don't leave your stupid cigarettes on the fucking ground! Try it in Oman and I hope they arrest your ass (gawd, I bet their streets are pretty!)

I dont mind non-smokers as long as they dont bother me while i'm smoking.

I mean that could always just go outside into the cold if my smoking if offending them too much.
Or you know they could go to a bus, train, plane, bar, restaurant, mall, their own house, a cinema, video arcade, office building, supermarket, taxi, petrol station, school or any other place I'm not allowed to smoke.

Edit: just realised my post was intended for people like the guy above me

Sure you do.

OT: You asked what I think of smoking? I think that smokers are annoying and selfish for not moving a few more feet away from the door and for polluting (not just the air, but often also with the used butts). I think that smoking is a pretty stupid and self destructive idea--not that I'm going to stop anyone, it's your choice if you really want tar filled lungs. I think that people who think that they can quit whenever they feel like it are deluding themselves because they don't want to admit that they're dependent on a molecule. I think that cigarette companies employ deplorable marketing tactics to rope in children and teens. But if you just want a summary, I think smoking is bad.

I'm sorry to impose on your right to pollute my lungs. I'm such an insensitive jerk to not let you poison me.

My Grandfather smoked for years and years, but he quit. I saw him dying of a heart attack. I have the guilt of that in my head.

But on the other hand a lot of things I have done that are positive I associate the smell of cigarettes. So I have the guilt of my Grandpa's death with the positive experiences. I feel a lot of turmoil in my head from it.

Such a negative experience with positive ones.

Use to smoke, but got tired of how it was making me feel. That and I promised my partner when we got together. Him being able to kiss me without tasting ashtray was more important than my nicotine hit that was also upsetting my family (I took up the habit after my grandmother died of smoking related causes...ironic huh?)

As long as I'm not in the same room with more then say, 1 smoker, I really couldn't care less who smokes or what not. Me, I used to smoke but I quit. Like you, I enjoyed the taste, but down the road I didn't wanna turn out like my father, so I quit while I still could.

It looks soothing enough, but it's too fucking expensive for me to consider it a viable option for relaxation.

Aye. What pissess me off more is when they do it around kids. It's like trying to escape from swear words. It isn't you, it's other people.

Ok its kind of a joke but not fully. There are hundreds of places (at least where i come from) where its illegal to smoke. The only places left are open outdoor areas away from doors where the smoke just blows away.

I'm generally a very considerate smoker, i wont light up in a busy place or around children, I'll blow my smoke as far away from people as i can, but then to have people coming up to me coughing and whining about it really pisses me off. Some people should just never leave their homes.
