Personally I've been laughing in fits over this. I live in Canada, snow is a fact of life for half of the year here. We don't get shut down until people can't see out the window because of the snow drifts or have to shovel their way out of the house tunnel style.

I'd also wager Jeremy Clarkson is on the radio somewhere around there saying, "I told you so!" , while he suggested everyone should drive around in Range Rovers.

No offense, but you Brits have no idea what snow is. You get a dusting and the whole country shuts down. Try living in New England during nor'easter season, where getting 18 inches overnight is par for the course.
Any other time i would agree with you, not this time we've had about 12 inches(ok over 3 days) where i stay. The reason we got balls up is the uk doesn't get this type of weather normally.
How bad is it over there, then? How many roads are open/closed? I'm not being a smartass, I sincerely want to know how well you're dealing with it over there with the very limited resources you have.
In terms of resourses, we actually have more than enough to deal with it, its just being incredible badly implemented as we were caught well off guard with how early it struck, Aparantly we have a load of salt and grit but just didnt start putting any of it down before the snow hit.

Up north and coastal areas some places are completely snowed in, some completely standing still.
down south and midlands and london area, the first couple of days were pretty bad, but as less people were driving it was ok to get around, All main roads are pretty clear now, its just the side roads that are iced up...
some trains overground cancelled or delayed for hours loads of planes cancelled, not as many snowmen as expected and some schools were closed for a few days this week. Other than that, no snow so far this weekend, at least down south and looks like it will start to thaw...

No need of international aid yet... thanks for your interest..

We're being expected to go to college ever morning, and the bus service is cancelling buses eleft, right and centre, but still leaving other buses (that don't go to my college) that go down most of the same roads fully running!

I had the entire week off from college because of the snow.
It was rather convenient, considering I was a little behind on some work.
It's funny, because it starts melting during the day, but every night we get a nice snowstorm that tops it back up to what it was before it melted. It's going to be here for a while methinks.

Leicester is going strong with 5 times as much snow as it takes to make my hometown grind to a halt. Irritating, as I have come down with 3 colds in 2 weeks.

We got it at the start of the week here in Essex. About 4-6 inches or so I reckon.

Haven't been to college all week, and now the snow's starting to melt. Although, there's allegedly going to be more on Sunday night...

Loving it where i am in scotland, the snow started last saturday had about 9 inches by the sunday morning and it's just been pilling up since and with the temprature never getting above -5'c it's not melting either, it's upto about 2 feet deep where they've not attempted to clear it.

Oh and if anyones interested Dundee univercity has taken another picture from orbit again this year.

I want to know what all the bloody fuss is about.

Here we get a couple of months worth of snow every year and what do we do? We put some chains and a shovel in the boot and carry on. It annoys me how the rest of the country can't cope with a fairly mild snowstorm, Canada and Finland must be laughing at us in their sleep by now.

It's also keeping me from getting new stock, which annoys me even more.
I think it might be because we don't expect to much snow but I have to agree Canada is like fucking Jesus when it comes to getting around in snow.

I hate it. I live in east anglia and we've only had a few inches over the last week but I still hate it. Everything ground to a halt last weekend cause the council didn't get the gritters out till monday and by then everything was pretty well frozen and all but the main roads still are.
