My first animes were Pokemon, Dragonball, and Yu-Gi-Oh, but those weren't what got me interested. Princess Mononoke and Spirited away are mainly what got me addicted to anime. Then I started watching Ghost in the Shell, FMA, etc. on Cartoon Network.

Dragonball Z and Tenchi Muyo. Tenchi Muyo still remains my favourite anime.

I watched the anime that was on TV when I was a kid, Sailor Moon, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh,and so on, but those were just more cartoons to me back then. The first anime I watched start to finish proper was death note. After seeing it on TV I watched it online and quite enjoyed it. Several months passed and I was bored one night and searched anime on youtube and found a clip of Dokuro-chan and immediately found and watched that. Then I looked for Bleach because I had heard of that from TV and started watching it. From there I found streaming sites where I watched many other series, getting a good chunk of the "entry level" stuff done. Then I found /a/ and torrent sites and now I pretty much only watch currently airing shows to the detriment of a slowly growing backlog.

That's an impressive power level.

For me it would be Pokemon, then Digimon, then a bit of Cardcaptor Sakura. I didn't realise that they were specifically anime at the time though.

The first thing i watched that i new was anime was Spirited Away, which then got me addicted to Studio Ghibli and i now have a fair amount of their films on dvd. The first series that i watched was Bleach i think but i've pretty much given up on it when the "saga" ended. Seriously they just don't know when to pick a decent time for an ending to this show.

The first anime that I watched that wasn't Pokemon was... Ronin Warriors. God I loved that show, caught it every afternoon after school on Toonami. Me and my brothers and sisters would play Ronin Warriors in the backyard using sticks and acting out mock battles. It was pretty awesome.

I'd say Dragonball more than Z because I could somehow relate to the monkey boy who had a magical pole and cloud. That and Kenshin or Samurai X or whatever it's called. Pretty sweet end theme song.

A few years ago my friend showed me Cowboy Bebop and some of .hack//SIGN, but that was about it. Then about a year ago, i was looking at the tv channel directory and saw that Adult Swim still aired Cowboy Bebop at around 1:30AM on sunday's.

So i started watching that again, but had nothing to keep me awake until 1:30, so i also started watching the shows that came on before it (Bleach, FMA: B, Kekkaishi, and maybe something else). Then i remembered seeing (way back when) a commercial for Death Note, and i went on my computer to see if i could watch it online.

26 more anime's followed. Started watching Bleach from the beginning 2 weeks ago, and am currently on 194. Also up-to-date on Fairy Tale (Subbed), Deadman Wonderland, and Legend of Korra[footnote]Even if its not considered true anime, it is still a cartoon, and therefore animated.[/footnote]

Ghost in the Shell was the one that sealed the deal for me, but the inital spark of intrest came from Ultraman (Urutoraman: Kûsô tokusatsu shirîzu).

DBZ'er here.
You know the story.
I actually saw it first when it was on Fox Kids, but I was far too young to really understand and enjoy what I was watching.

I'm suuuuppppeeeerrrr old fashioned. Watched Sailor Moon when I was 11, watched some stranger things earlier (The Warriors of The Wind, Sabre Rider and the Star Sheriff) and then I developed a serious love of Robotech at around Age 12 (this was like... the mid 90's, so well after Robotech had initially aired) and it's basically been an on off thing since then.

Currently I'm all about the giant robots... gawdamn giant robots...

Cardcaptors was probably the first I ever saw but I can't remember a time in my life where I didn't watch anime. The person who got me into anime was my eight years older sister who I've always been close with, so anime has been a major form of entertainment for me right from the start.

My first anime experience? oddly enough it was Laputa: the flying castle
didn't even know it was anime at the time (was about 4 years old) but ever since it's been a firm favourite, always makes me smile. Still got it on VHS somewhere, sure, I;ve got the Disney release but the voice acting in that is worse than the old 80s company I grew up with. In fact, it kinda pissed me off that Disney tried to make it a typical (i.e. utter shite) kids film when all the other Ghibli films they released were treated more seriously.

second experience was Ghost in the Shell, Akira and Wings of Honneamise or however it's spelled XD

My first anime would be Evangelion back when I was under ten, randomly saw an episode and after that i made it my mission to find it and watch it, man those were some fun times i watched the entire series so many times.
And besides that the usual of DBZ, Pokemon, Digimon and the rest thanks to Toonami and early morning Cheez TV, ooohh yeah! :)

My first serious anime was probably Yugioh. The one that pulled me in was Fullmetal Alchemist, though.
I think you mixed those two up.

Yep the DBZ team was the on to pull me into the Grand tour of anime. You could say a brand new adventure began.

It was serious enough. Yugioh is about DBZ level of seriousness. FMA really pulled me in, like I said.

My first encounter with anime was Little Nemo way back, then constantly watching My Neighbor Totoro with my sisters. After that I didn't watch much anime until Pokemon, and I fizzled out again. I got back into anime with Dragon Ball Z and others showed by Toonami and Adult Swim, but what really got me sucked into anime was New Mobile Report: Gundam Wing.
Sure Gundam Wing is a terrible anime, but it got me into giant robots and got me into Gundam. Now I'm a huge Gundam fanboy, and a bigger U.C. purist when it comes to Gundam.
Alternate Century?
After Colony?
Cosmic Era?

Bollocks. All of it. Universal Century is where Gundam belongs.

(Sorry. That got a bit tangential.)

Pokemon, Digimon, Ghibli, Toonami, and Naruto got me started on the glory that is anime. That and

Without my enjoyment for anime, I would never would've played Persona 4. Imagine that dark shit.
