Moral of the season 2 finale: Upgrade to cracklings. Or fail.

Season 2 is better in every conceivable way.

I liked it. It was more energetic and had more serious moments then Season 1 while still giving a ton of laughs. The Finale was freaking amazing. Big bombastic battles, a great Villain song, a great and creepy new villain design, every one of the Mane Six got a good moment or two. And speaking of which every one got a good episode of two. Favorite episodes from this season:

Luna Eclipsed

Super Cider Squeeze 6000

Baby Cakes

The Return of Harmony

And of course the Season Finale. A Canterlott war....ehhh Wedding. Yeah wedding. Totally not a fake out when the Changeling's invade.

It had its highs and lows. Overall, not as good as Season 1, but some episodes were brilliant.

Though I never really got where the Changelings came from. Was there previous mention of them, or did they (writers) pull them (Changelings) out of their (writers') asses?
The changelings have always been there. Look in the background. Those Colgate duplicates? They're changelings. An extra Lyra? She's a changeling. Bon Bon showing up somewhere she shouldn't be? Changeling. Why do you think they were able to launch an attack on Equestria's capital without anypony else noticing? They have a vast network of informants and sleeper agents, an entire army hiding right under Celestia's nose. There are no continuity errors in MLP:FIM, no animation glitches, no lazy animators. Every mistake we thought we caught was just a changeling being careless. But they're not gone, and they will strike again, and we'll never see it coming.

But yeah, after that finale my head is explosions of rainbows for pretty much all the reasons already mentioned. Least favorite episode of the season would probably be Mare Do Well, favorite would be Hearth's Warming Eve. Great season everypony, fingers crossed season three will be even better!

Where the heck was luna during this whole thing lol?
Apparently she sleeps somewhere not Canterlot. In the beginning of the episode, you see her enter the shield to take over for Celestia.

I don't care how heavy a sleeper you are...You'd have to be dead to sleep through that racket.
I figure she sleeps on the moon for whatever reason, since that's where she seems to emerge from in both Luna Eclipsed and the finale.

It all makes sense now.

...Wait, why couldn't the changelings change into unique ponies then?

Then Lesson Zero went all crazy, almost Ren and Stimpy like.
The way you're saying that makes it sound like you thought that this was a bad thing! But that can't be true, can it?

Can it?!

Did anyone think that the song writers created "Love is in Bloom" just so older fans of the show can have a MLP song for their wedding as well as songs to write their shipping fan fiction to?

Cause I'll be honest - I would play the remixed version of that song at my wedding. Look it up on Equestria Daily.

I loved the last episode, it's good to have more than one mega evil villian in one season. The previews also fooled me as well as I was expecting a weak season finale.

Speaking of which, anybody got any ideas on what kind of villian will appear in the opening episode of season 3?
Most likely Discord or something. John De Lancie (his VA) did say that he had already recorded new lines about two or three months back. I see no reason for the executives of the show to just leave that dialogue on the cutting room floor, considering Discord is likely the show's favorite villain.

I really liked the Mare-do-well episode.
Or maybe the one when Flutter-shy learns to stick up for her self.

Season 2 was better than 1 by my estimation
And I still don't know why I love this show as much as I do.
But I can't wait for season 3

Gotta say, Lesson Zero was my favorite episode of the season, and of the series, period.

So many big laughs in that one, and Twilight's facial expressions were just plain hilarious.

Runner up would be the two part season opener which introduced the best villain in the series, Discord.

And, I'd probably rank season 2 as being better than the first, the team seems like they've really gotten into the groove and as a result, they delivered a lot of classic episodes.

i still need to watch the finally so I'll edit my thoughts in on that after ward, but so far!!

good season is good,

first 4 eps where awesome.
Discord was awesome, it's like they took what they did wrong with Nightmare Moon and fixed it

watching Twilight lose her mind in a way that made Pinkie Pies mental break from season one seem tame.

an ep focused solely on Princess Luna, 'i approve' dose not cover it. i was squeeing with joy the whole ep

other great eps include
Sisterhooves social
Read it and Weep
Putting your Hoof Down
My the best pet win
Super speedy cider squeezy 6000
Hurricane Flutter Shy
it's about time

the best song? easy

EDIT: season 2 finally thoughts:
it. was. AWESOME!!!!

Rarity having a 'fit' at the beginning, priceless

the bad guy being a decent bad guy? awesome :D not Discord, but hey, The Queen did a fine job being evil

the songs i thought were good, especially the last one 'Love's in bloom' i think is what it'll be called

and on a more personal note ....

OMG LUNA!!!!! WITH LINES!!! *SQUEE!!!!!* they listened to us :D:D:D:D

(for those confused Luna was not in the Season 1 finally at all, nor was she mentioned at all, this was kinda frowned upon by, pretty much every one)

I thought that season two was better than season one. Season one was probably more consistent, but season two had more episodes that I really enjoyed. Favorite episode? Either the second part of the season finale or Hurricane Fluttershy.

Alright, I've seen it now... what the... this... this was an absolute FANTASTIC ending. Plus 8000% more Vinyl Scratch!
Only... there's Lyra on the wedding ceremony while Bridesmare Lyra is down in the caverns waiting for Twi and Cadance? Does not compute.

You can't argue with that.

And my favourite episodes: Luna Eclipsed for Halloween and Luna, Read it and Weep for Daring-Do, Hearth's Warming Eve because it was a great episode and MMMystery on the Friendship Express which has to be by far the greatest episode of season 2.
