No. I don't like the idea of having a camera pointed into my living room that Microsoft can turn on at any time - it's in the contract.
I'd like to see them try when neither the XBox nor the Kinect are getting any power.

I got one. Works pretty much as advertised, but it's not going to replace Wii Fit anytime soon. I mean, Wii Fit has Free Jogging mode which lets you jog with the Wiimote in your pocket while you play a better game on another console with the gamepad in your hand. They can't beat that! Also, Yeah. Wait for better games and avoid it if you don't have the space or if you have downstairs neighbors.
That is just awesome!

Yes I got the 250GB Kinect Bundle. Well worth every penny.

I'm actually enjoying it. I bought one after reading positive reviews and hearing some of my friends say good things about it. I admit that I was very skeptical of it prior to launch, but I've found that it provides me with an amusing way to get a little exercise, and I really like the voice command feature.

I don't get all the hate that so many in the video games community direct towards Kinect. It's not a fantastic gaming platform as of right now, but it is an impressive piece of technology that I don't regret purchasing. I think there is plenty of room in the gaming industry for it in addition to the traditional games.

Kinect, like the Wii, Rock Band, and DDR, seems like something that would be great if I had people over at my place a lot, but since my apartment is rather small, we usually meet up at someone else's.

Yeah my parents got it, though it's really for the whole family. It's not something I'd play on my own, but with my younger cousins I don't mind... though I much prefer playing Reach with them.

Also, we clearly don't have enough room for more than person to play as the wall kept getting in the way of my body.

I didn't buy one, but I did play Kinect this holiday season. See it's fun and all, but it's really only fun if you have lots of people and you all like video games. Which means that it=SSBB.

Discuss.

Tried it out at a store display. I found it imprecise. It would register movements but it was fairly picky about where my hands needed to be to navigate menus. It also contained a brief but noticeable lag between my movements and the menu scrolling. Lag wasn't as noticeable during gameplay though. Besides that the amount of space that was cleared out for just one person to play was prohibitive. I don't have a lot of space in my apartment and the kinect would take up every bit of living room space I have available for just one person.

The demo game was, of course, Dance Central for anyone that cares.

It was a Christmas present from my parents... after I repeatedly TOLD them I didn't want a bloody Kinect. Ugh.

Well, at least it was better than more shirts.

I'm still sore from all the jumping and running on the spot I had to do to convince my parents that yes, they didn't just waste their money.
I'm sorry, but it is very hard to feel sympathy for getting a brand-new, expensive piece of tech for Christmas.

That said, I don't want one until they make some decent flippin' games for the thing. People always hate on the Wii, but at least it had Twilight Princess going for it at launch! What's Kinect got?

Nothing I want, that's what.

My in-laws bought it. The space requirements are pretty bad, and since I have a 2-year-old and a 4-year-old, sometimes they get excited and try to play together. The thing just gets confused and assigns the arm to one child and the rest of the body to the other. Interesting to watch the character spaz out, though.
When they come out with games that are actually interesting, instead of wii sports copies, then maybe I'll get the Move for my PS3. However, I don't see it happening any time soon. I said the same thing about the Wii and I still haven't gotten one.

Why not just unplug it when you're not using it?

Bill Gates is watching you eat Cheetos in the living room!
Actually, he's watching me use my great wealth to take over the world, and stealing my ideas.

Seriously though, I'm more concerned he'll one day allow the FBI to watch me eat Cheetos, without a warrant. You may say I'm paranoid, but it seems too convenient a thing for the government not to exploit it. They already exploit GPS systems in phones to track people they want to watch. And the government didn't even have to ask the people of the United States to put a camera in their houses. We paid Microsoft for the privilege.
Well duh, that's the reason they made Kinect. What's odd is that they should have given it out for free to all Xbox and Windows users and they would get it spread out to all Xbox users. I guess they decided that would make us suspicious... more suspicious.

I'm a PS3 owner myself, and I'm not sold on either Kinect or Move.
I've actually played Kinect at a friends and I really really like Dance Central (Since I'm a big DDR nerd) and I thought the menu system worked well and I had it down better and was using it more comfortably than my friend in about 5 minutes.

Then we played Kinect Adventures.

Geez... That was pretty terrible... Like, really.... ewww.

I haven't beena ble to try the Move yet, but I'd like to try RE5 with it (One of my favourite games) and see how well the controls transfer to motion control.

Of the both, Move is more likely able to work for me since I am moving to live in on college campus and won't have 6 feet of play space in my room.
All I have to say to this is that Resident Evil 4 is awesome on the Wii. Motion controllers there make the game so much better rather than the old bulky way of controlling. It makes it easier to aim, if it is anything like that with move you should test it out.

OT: I don't think I will check out Kinect. I've tried one game and I think it was kinda boring, it's expensive and I don't have a lot of space where I live. I guess it could be fun, but I got a Wii for all my motion controller needs for the moment. Maybe in the future, but I don't know anyone who would ever want it.

We weren't going to get one. I already have a Wii and a PS3, and XBox has little allure for me. But, I finally picked one up day after Thanksgiving (a bulky used one). My 7-yr-old was quite distraught that we didn't buy any games for him (I bought it for Halo and Fable, and access to the online store. I'm going to school for game development and figured I should be familiar with all the consoles, and learning to work in XNA I was looking forward to using it for my own games.)

So, my son asks if we'll get him his own with Kinect. We say no. Then, at Christmas, he goes over our heads and straight to the big man in red himself. So, he got a brand new XBox with Kinect.

I've actually been fairly happy with it. I talked about on my blog [http://jadedscribe.blogspot.com/2011/01/xbox-and-kinect.html], and went into the problems I have, and what I like about it.

I actually love the workout aspect to it. I hate going to the gym for a variety of reasons, and while I haven't played the Kinect Adventures yet, we did get Kinectimals for the kids, which is cute and amusing.

I think it definitely has potential.

My family bought it, we only play when we have people round though.
