Well, as someone who enjoyed Dragon Age II and didn't ***** about the ME3 ending. I'm sure I'll be happy with what they give us.

This is why we get bad games, day 1 DLC, and contempt from so many of the gaming companies. They need to invent a word for gamer-Stockholm Syndrome.

I'm very optimistic, myself.

The development has been extended beyond my initial projections, and seeing the developers talk about maintaining many of the varied improvements they introduced in DAII was a great relief to someone who thought the original was a rather contrived and forgettable affair by comparison.

Also, I do think it's funny when people complain about how BioWare aren't "making games they want to make", when DAII was pretty much a textbook example of a labour of love.
I suppose they should only make the games they want to make if those wants coincide with what *you* want.

There were no improvements. Destroying tactical combat and replace with RTS Zerg fest. Reuse assets from DA:O and routinely recycle what few DA2 assets they created. Even worse, is much of the 'good stuff' happens off screen while you get stuck with the boring combat-grind-fest.

You know Bioware is really not the RPG house it once was.

Jade Empire, KOTOR, ME1, Baulder's Gate, and Dragon Age Origins.
Titans of the RPG genre that people loved.

The Old Republic, DA2, ME2, and ME3.
Increasingly mediocre and bland RPGs that kill more and more of its fanbase.

All that was great has been absorbed into the EA shit factory.
Quickly made, attempts at mass appeal, and reduced quality.

Priority Earth...was the most shoddily made Bioware ending in their history.

How did we go from dueling a Sith Lord on a Space Station during an epic battle, or fighting a corrupted old god atop a tower.
To bantering with an AI that has the most insane troll logic in history?

EA.
That is how.

Do you honestly think that is true?
For western RPG's.

I certainly can't think of one besides DA2 that won't let you tweak your posy's equipment
Why did I miss a really obvious one?
DA2 lets you do that.

BioWare needs to stop making their games for money and start making the games that they want to make.

To do that they need to leave EA.

I liked the video. It does seem like EA's tendencies are rubbing off on Bioware, although I don't necessarily agree that they're doomed to ruin Bioware.

Personally, I had mixed feelings about DA II. I enjoyed it enough to replay the game (and buy DLC), but it was flawed in many ways. My biggest complaint is probably that the world felt small. Between the copy-and-paste dungeons and being stuck in the same city it got very repetitive. The first time I played I kept expecting to unlock other parts of Kirkwall, because it's implied to be much bigger than what you see, but it just never happened. There are also aspects of the story and characterization I was unsatisfied with, but I'll be here all day if I start talking about that.

I want the next Dragon Age game to be amazing, but I'm not getting my hopes up. After ME3 I just don't trust the company to deliver like they used to. I'm not boycotting, just hedging my bets. I'll wait for reviews and price-drops next time around, if I buy at all.

As I assume that DA3 will be Origins only and being as I will only play it on a computer and being that my save files from the previous two games have been releases to to a voluntary hardrive wipe and due to my unwillingness to complete both games to satisfaction I have every reason to believe that I will not be purchasing DA3.

If those who hate on Bioware and EA with every breath they take were being completely honest, I would agree that there is really no pressure on Bioware for not only DA3 but also for pretty much anything else they ever release. They have already ruined themselves, can never do anything right and have near ruined gaming as a whole just by themselves.. of course, I think most people who say things like that are talking out of their nether regions so they will almost all buy DA3 anyway and then complain again to the high heavens about how bad it is.

For weapons, not equipment. When Anders was dying every ten seconds and I couldn't do anything with my totally awesome mage armor but hock it I couldn't help but feel like Bioware had dropped the ball.

I've never seen another game that loaded you up with armor and didn't let you equip any of it to your squad.

Like Yahtzee said the trouser sorting is a big part of RPG's. (Not to mention they came out with class specific armor packs as DLC that you couldn't use) DA 2 was lacking, and the fact that the game play got really difficult at times and I had armor in my inventory that could help alleviate the problem and couldn't use it just made things worse.

every game they put out after ME 2 has been mechanically dismal and narratively messy/broken.
And it's pretty much all EA's fault. Bioware makes RPG's not action games. They're really bad at making action games. I mean the combat from Mass Effect 1 was about as smooth as two bricks making out, but if they had enough time they could put together a great narrative, but since EA rushes them it to releasing a game every year they have to make due with like a third of a script, then just string it together with shiny nothing and a nonsensical amount of fighting.

Bioware needs at least 3 years to make a game (Maybe 5)
They should bring back episodic gaming, because they could make an act in a year. so they could make Dragon Age 3 act one, then next year release act 2 then 3 for 20$ each that way they get the time they need to write the game and EA gets their stupid yearly release thing they seem to give so much of a crap about

This got a little off topic.
EQUIPMENT! Yay!
not being able to put armor on my mages sucked. (Unless there's a patch or something I missed, I haven't played since Mark of the Assassin came out)

So DA3 is pretty much hopeless. especially since the only way to continue the series from this point is to make it even farther removed from DA O (What with all the Retcons DA2 pulled (and yes when you're talking about Bioware Retcon is a capital R)) I hope this is the last straw for Bioware fans. (As if Mass Effect 3 wasn't enough) You can do one thing that should be a staple in all RPG's that arbitrarily wasn't available in DA 2 in DA 3! Whoopty fuckin' doo. EA doesn't give Bioware time to do what they do best, write. and failed attempts at good writing will always turn out worse than soulless attempts at mediocre writing.

After the EC I've lost faith in bioware, they're getting worse and worse. They haven't had a great game since DAO and ME2; Tuchanka was the only truly great part of ME3. DA3 will be rehashing of DA2 minus the duplicated areas.

I blame EA rushing the development.
Quality over quantity in games. you'd think they would realize that after the most popular and fan-loved games came from a LONG development cycle(Blizzard and valve are companies that realize that)
EA is attempting to make every company they buy make popular games once a year at the minimum. And they base that on their FIFA series.
comes out once a year and lots of people buy the damned thing.
Quality is the most important thing in games. NEVER quantity.
I'd rather wait for a few months to play with something great then get some shit with a controller attached.

OT: i still try to have faith in Bioware. The only problem they have right now it seems is the rushed development time. Lets just hope EA falls out out of business before they take down all these great companies they absorbed.

The DA franchise will be just like every other franchise. The first one was a huge success, so they rushed a sequel to cash in. The sequels will get progressively lazier and they'll keep making them as long as people are dumb enough to buy them... just like every successful "franchise starter" *sigh*
:/ I wasn't always a cynic, but in this day and age a realist and a cynic is pretty much the same thing.

I actually enjoyed Dragon Age II ... granted I still found it had some major flaws and I don't think it was as polished as Dragon Age: Origins but there was something nice about having a more focused character experience (more similar to ME) which I know a lot of people just hated. As for the ME3 ending... was I shocked by it.. hell yeah... did I have an emotional reaction... yes, but it was not anger, it was sadness for my Shepard. I think the extended cut left me feeling a bit better because I got to see what happened to my companions which is the only reason why I choose control instead of kill... I wanted Edi to live.

So I feel confident that DA3 will have a good story ... and I am sure they are fixing the some of the larger problems with DA2 ... *cough cough* lack of diversity in areas to explore.

Totally disagree on the Star Wars games. KotOR 2 had the much tighter story and better characters.
And "treading the same waters" is a false statement. Kotor 2 was all about the nature of Force and the grey moral area that Jedi Masters step on constantly, seemingly knowing what's the right thing to do when they actually don't

Kreia is a magnificent character and Atton Rand has very interesting personality traits that apparently spawned from his interactions with the various Jedi in his life

Wrong again.
The only thing you can't change directly is armour (excluding shields), unless you count runes and upgrades.

To look at that and say you can't change anything is simply wrong.

Same here. ME3's ending was...acceptable. And dragon age 2 was fun, so yeah. It's all good.

Well DA3 went from "I must pre-order ... I will give the soul of my first born to own this game" (hey, she's 12 now and getting annoying, i'd swap her soul for a good cup of coffee) to "Hmmm ... I think i'll wait until I see it in the bargain bin".
