Loafers. Your argument is invalid.
I have velcro on my sandals, though. Had to glue it to the leather a couple of times over the summer. Pain in the ass.

You know, this reminds me: I had a dream last night that my tennis shoes had been replaced by a pair of those light up shoes. Those things were awesome when I was a kid, but I have no idea where that dream came from.

OT: If I could get away with velcro on my shoes, I'd do it, just to save time on lacing them up. It's also useful for other things -- like the strap I use to keep my laptop power supply from getting tangled when I pack it up. So, in other words, why would anyone dislike velcro?
Weird... But groovy. I must question, what kind of light up shoes were they?
That was the weird thing; they were basically the shoes I own now (so, crappy no-name brand walking shoes), but they had lights on them. My tennis shoes suck because I don't actually wear them all that much, and I didn't want to bother with getting something expensive for the few things I actually need tennis shoes for. I have a pair of brown leather boots that I wear pretty much all the time. Water proof shoes are a great thing to have in Florida.

We use velcro so many other places, why not shoes?

Shoes for adults, that is. I like the cuffs on my coat. The velcro up so my huge wrists don't leak snow water down my arms when I lift them in winter. Button cuffs ain't the same.

I've not experienced any kind of negativity whilst wearing mine. Velcro does a better job than laces ever could and, as someone already said, they don't come undone and get covered in whatever shit is on the floor. Also, fuck trying to re-tie laces after a drinking session.

Loafers for the win.

OT: I do agree that velcro does have it's uses and shoes are a good example, but I don't wear them nor do I think I ever will.

You guys aren't like me, I never untie my shoes, I just slip my foot in. Speed in fastening your shoes doesn't matter for someone who never does fasten their shoes.

Shoelaces, then, more convenient.

So I still wear velcro. Yes, they do make velcro shoes that big. And I always get crap for wearing velcro. And I don't understand why. Velcro is more convient, it'll never come off, it'll never trip you, it's faster, etc. Sure, kids wear them, but kids wear lace shoes to! I just don't understand it. So maybe you can shed some light on it.
What, the tard shoes?

I kid, I kid.
Seriously, though, I only own cowboy boots. I don't have any of the issues you mentioned above, and I save one more step than you do. And they don't look ridiculous.

Velcro should be made standard for all shoes, because fuck shoelaces. They always come untied.

Honestly? I don't think i've ever even really seen adult sized velcro shoes. But like most people i will probably forever associate velcro with kids shoes. Something you wear while you're still learning how to tie your laces. Velcro would be pretty convenient though seeing as how my shoelaces come untied all the damn time. Even when it feels nice and tight at first.

It can be an intriguing fetish but you need to be in decent physical shape to pull it off, or else your going to have to make a very embarrassing call to pry the two of you ap.... Ohhh, you meant shoes.

Having Velcro on any clothes of mine annoys me. The sound and weird way it bunches up on longer strips just grates on my nerves, but I wouldn't hold it against anybody who wants to wear it.

It's a bit dependent on application for me.

For example, I couldn't stand it on my everyday shoes, because I'm a little clumsy with my hands, and it can scratch. However, on my bike shoes, I have a ratchet system and two velcro straps to do them up, because laces get caught in the chain.

So there are some places velcro shouldn't venture, and others it should never leave.

I remember when I wouldn't get any shoes that didn't have velcro. I did that for years(age 5 to 13). It was just convenient and faster for me.

I like velcro on some gear(camping/hiking stuff), but that's it nowadays.

I dont like velcro on shoes, mainly because, to me of course, it shows that either you are lazy, that you dont know how to tie shoe laces, that you're so bad at it you have to hide it, or that you feel your time is so "precious" that you cant take the few seconds it does to tie shoes.

and all of those are traits I neither care for or would encourage.

I am firmly anti-velcro. It's just immoral.

But, really, I don't have to worry about velcro vs laces. I wear slip-on flats and they are adorable and convenient as hell. Men, are you jealous?
