So, Escapist, do you ever go to nightclubs?

I don't go, but I've got a friend obsessed with the Singaporean clubbing scene. Everyday at school he's babbling about "Oh, last night as Zirca my brother's friend got us into the VIP room, and they had like FIFTY BOTTLES of Black-label, and I was like 'Whaaaat', and my bro was like 'Yeeeaaaah' and...". Basically, he's a total poser for the most part, but I don't think that being in a crowded room with poor lighting and overly loud music is what I want to do in my free time. Parties, I can do, but clubbing just seems stupid to me.

Once.

Never again.
This. But this definitely contributes more to mainstream/hip-hop clubs. I'm not a big fan of going to clubs to get laid, even before I obtained a girlfriend.

I do however enjoy music venues. New York City has a really great night life and I work in it shooting shows. The smaller venues like Bowery Ballroom and Music Hall of Williamsburg are great places to hang out and meet people.
See I'm the same way and so are my friends, we don't go to a club to get laid we just go to have fun and usually if a girl wants to bring us home we just say no or make something up (swear one time my buddy told a girl he had syphilis and another time I just told the girl I was gay, and this was after we danced, got their numbers and made out with them, we just make shit up to see the looks on their faces and we just laugh. call me a horrible person but its hilarious
I think I might start going out to more clubs just to try this syphilis story out. Nice one man.
Haha man we have a million of them, one of my best friends who is like my little sister to me was dancin and some dude creeped up on her like they do and she danced with him for about 2 mn before she turned around and said in a real deep voice "So do you like surprises?" HAHA I have never seen a dude runaway so fast

I prefer pubs or bars with a bit of music playing in the background and a small dancefloor. That way I can get drunk and watch the attractive women dancing without having to pay stupid prices to do it.

I do, I go to a 90s club just because they have nerdy gaming cocktails and me and my friends usually prefer listening to the classic pop that comes out, for nostalgia's sake and not because we genuinely like it (it's a great ice breaker for when everyone is sober). I can't really pin down a favourite moment although one that I always like to reminisce upon is when I offered to escort a girl that I like home and halfway there am met with the line, "What makes you think you are going back to your place tonight?" (this was followed by me asking to be excused as my following action was to be extremely nerdy and after being given the green light, did the FF victory tune, I was met by a face-palm but the evening still went well) I have now been going out with that girl for 7 months so yeah.... good times.

I went to a few clubs in my youth, but most of my friends hung out in bars (and all the bars in our area had large dance floors and DJs so it worked out pretty much the same except a smaller/friendlier setting that actually served food too)

It was a fun place to hang out as a teen/youth, ended up bouncing for a while in a place where my friend also DJ'd. Met lots of interesting people lol.

Turns out she was only 15, but it still begs the question of why the hell was she in there in the first place? Innefective dickheads pretending to be door staff.
If your friend couldn't tell she was 15 (and I'll be he could and didn't care) then why would you expect the door staff to know?

General rule at the door in most places I know was "all pretty girls get in unless obviously under age", "guys and ugly girls get carded if there is any doubt". And that's not the rules the bouncer is making up, that's what you get from management.
It varies. I found that the doormen where we use to go back home carded anyone they didn't know to be over 18, ie. non-regulars, because it's on their head if some shit goes down.

I had only gone there three times back during Uni (hanging out with my flatmates). Overall I don't enjoy it to be honest. The reasons why I didn't like it are-

I can't stand alcohol so I can only order Alcohpop or Pepsi/coke (not really good for my teeth)
I have to shout at the top of my lung to speak to people in there.
I can't stand the loud music.
I get paranoid going before and after the nightclub (I keep feeling I will get mugged).
Getting my clothes sweaty and smell of smokes.

I would however go to it again if I were to go with my friends (I wasn?t close with my flatmates).

Well I live in the middle of no where, so the only club ive gone to is a gay dance club with like pop/house music. (btw not gay) anyway, best experience awesome dancing, they had good music for once, was fun, grinded up against a random chick for like 20 mins. Worst, my friends basically ditched me, and liked hooked with the other friends in my group randomly, so inadvertently I became like the fifth wheel. :(

That depends... does it have wifi?

OT:
For general night clubs: I've been to a few and I only go to celebrate something worth celebrating. I tend to avoid them because they have shit music, it's way too damn loud to socialize, far too crowded, expensive drinks, and to add more insult you have to pay so you can get in and suffer from the above problems I have with them.

Exclusive night clubs: I prefer these greatly to the standard ones as some areas in the club are for socializing, so the music isn't so loud. So it's a great place to actually be able to celebrate and socialize. Better yet they are not crowded to the point where you need a plow truck to get anywhere.

The downside however, is that some are hard to get into. Be it from their standards of people they let in or they don't want to get crowded. Also the music isn't that much of an improvement.

I usually don't go to nightclubs, not because of what they are, but most nightclubs around me don't have anywhere to sit and talk that isn't cold and outside.

I like to dance, but that's not exclusively why I go to a nightclub. I go to watch everyone I know get drunk and act like idiots with them, dance when I fancy it, and have a good old natter. So yeah, if there's a good place to sit and talk, as well as a good place to get pissed and flail then I'm all for it.

Best nightclub experience:

Last time I went out to a gay-bar with my girlfriend and her house-mates. Met a couple of people who were pretty amazing, had a little bit of dancing, but mostly just enjoyed meeting new people and the odd person hitting on us or bumping into people from the past. Also drank the most I've ever had, and renewed my confidence in drinking.

Worst nightclub experience:

Going out when I didn't particularly want to, with a lot of people having fights for whatever reason, a friend of ours going home and getting herself in a stupid amount of trouble, and I had to bail her out and almost got into a fight over that. Just lots of alcohol-fuelled aggression. I swear, if anything supports the legalisation of cannabis, it's alcohol-fuelled aggression.

I have been clubbing 3 times. I do not care to repeat the experience. Too many people, expensive drinks, bad music, drunks and it's just all round boring. Also last time I went, I got hit in the face by a drunk girl looking for a fight.

I prefer pubs, quiet music, decent priced drinks and plenty of places to sit and chat with friends. If I never see another club again it'll be too soon.

I used to, only really if someone else asked me to come with them, but I wouldn't normally choose to. The music is usually awful, I hate those guys that lurk in the toilets waiting to leap on you trying to wash your hands / choke you with deodorant and the place usually just reeks of theatrical smoke and sweat.

I've been before - and hated every second.

I have no idea what is fun about going into a seedy room filled with aggressive drugged out people you don't know, dancing (if you can call it that) like a fool with no space to move, listening to bad remixes of bad songs, getting a headache and being groped.

That has been my experience with every nightclub I've gone to.

I do on occasion. I'm not much of a dancer so it really comes down to drinking competitions, and then sitting in the dubstep room and trying not to be sick all over the walls.

I live in the country, closest city of any size is about 50-60 miles, but if you know where to look there are several roadhouses within easy driving distance. All of them are full of drunk rednecks and redneck girls just having a good time. The music is always 'country', the dancing is always 'line dancing', there are pool tables, bouncers, bubbas, and well .. other stuf, too ...
