So, Escapist, do you ever go to nightclubs?

I cant stand the modern club music, so the worst time in the club, was actually when in a school trip to Germany a club was scheduled for a whole evening, I was disgusted and bored to death at the same time.

I do not know if it really counts as a club, but we have a bar here in Latvia where Traditional folk music is played quite regularly. Most of the time there are people who know Folk dances so you can learn how to do them, it was a lot of fun and educational. And you know what, I meet my wife there that evening, now we are regulars, I even started to like SKYFORGER, A Latvian Pagan/Folk Metal Band.

Haha why? what happened man?

also sorry for the double post
I second Broady Brio's sentiment so I feel like answering this question. We went to Barcalona/Lloret da Mar on a schooltrip, one of the clubbing towns in Europe. So we went clubbing one night, and I tagged along to see what all the fuss was about. My experience:

- SO. FRIGGIN. LOUD. And repetitive noise to boot.
- The flashing gave me a headache, so many strobe lights!
- The smoke hurt my throat.
- The throng was just a pain.
- The drink prices were outrageous.
- The drunks were filthy.

I got out of there rather quickly.

I don't go to clubs.
It's not my kind of deal.
Agreed. However since coming out as Bi I want to go to a gay club. I am as of yet finding someone I can trust to bring me. I feel that it is/was important to try em before dismissing them...as such I still have to try like an upscale fancy one before I just completely dismiss them. For now though I prefer pubs, bars, shisha places and my place.

Sometimes if the mood strikes me. But I prefer bars where one can choose to sit down and talk a little. And the fact a lot of nightclubs around here are full of drugged up retards doesn't help its case much.
Agreed

No I haven't. I'm not sure what I would do in all honesty - I don't drink and my friends do, so that makes it a bit iffy on the get go. I have a sneaking suspicion I'd find it pretty boring too, even if they were playing my kind of music.
This, Mainly because it has the same problems I do, I don't drink either which rules out the getting wasted side of things, and I'm not much of a dancer.

I haven't been to a night club for ages. Which means my last summer vacation. I went clubbing in Jakarta and have been recovering since :p

Sometimes. I did a lot last summer. Basically, I would be with a group on the beach and we would meet people there and make plans. Then we all inevitably end up on East Bay street and start club hopping. My best experience was after taking the MCAT. I had spent 5 hours a day inside studying during the early part of the summer and then had to drive 2 and a half hours to take the test, then 2 and a half back after I was done (and it's a 6 hour test, with breaks).

So my friend who also took the test that day and I celebrated our collective vigilance with a night of heavy drinking and dancing to shitty music (it's weird how little I care about how the music is crappy while I'm there). We had a group. My girlfriend at the time and I had to pick my friend up off the street at 3AM and carry him back to my car. Some nasty old woman kissed him while we were walking (I had fun telling him that the next day). Then my girlfriend and I tried to sober up in the parking lot by dancing to no music (and peeing on cars). Yep. Stupid, drunken fun.

This. But this definitely contributes more to mainstream/hip-hop clubs. I'm not a big fan of going to clubs to get laid, even before I obtained a girlfriend.

I do however enjoy music venues. New York City has a really great night life and I work in it shooting shows. The smaller venues like Bowery Ballroom and Music Hall of Williamsburg are great places to hang out and meet people.
See I'm the same way and so are my friends, we don't go to a club to get laid we just go to have fun and usually if a girl wants to bring us home we just say no or make something up (swear one time my buddy told a girl he had syphilis and another time I just told the girl I was gay, and this was after we danced, got their numbers and made out with them, we just make shit up to see the looks on their faces and we just laugh. call me a horrible person but its hilarious
I think I might start going out to more clubs just to try this syphilis story out. Nice one man.

Wow loads of negativity
Also to the guy commenting on "watching people dancing" yeah your supposed to join in.

And to the people saying its overpriced. THATS THE POINT.
Pre drink somewhere cheap (even your own house is good enough for this) then go out. My god this is hardly rocket science, i expected more common sense from the escapists.
I'd like to see everyone here being put in a club for a night together. Ohhhh, the negative vibes!

Oddly enough, the best club I ever went to was a Gay one.

Well, until all the gay men rushed me.

...I felt like a hot girl in a dark alley way...
Modest, aren't we?

I much prefer raves to night clubs. I don't like the "I'm here to see and bring home women" kinda feel you get in a club.
I have some real raver friends (unfortunately, I neither no how to dance well nor have the spark to do it shamelessly,) and it's fun to just go crazy while holding/selling the water because everyone else is on M. Usually good to bring 1 or 2 non-drugged people along too.

I have not been recently but that is because i moved away from where the clubs were, I liked the rock clubs in cardiff that pritty much meant i was limited to bogiez fuel and metros, most of these were more rock, metal and punch nights than actal nightclubs but still fun the same.
Cannot say i have ever had a bad night out, forgotten nights yes but that is not bad as such as that must have been good and some weired nights when i get into a conversation with a random person starting on don't get a tattoo my dad mostly does cover ups so don't bother and then goes into pain dealing and blocking techniques

I go to raves to dance.

I go to bars to drink.

I go to Jazz Ensembles/Metal Concerts to listen to music.

Nope, absolutely no reason to go to Night Clubs.
