Lying around somewhere I've got a public domain software library disk with all sorts of old treasures on it. I think the oldest on there is Rogue, widely heralded as the first ever dungeon crawler.

Now that is cool. It's not just "widely heralded as the first dngeon crawler." It's the reason the subgenre of dungeon crawlers that includes games like Nethack and Dungeons of Dredmore is called "Roguelikes."

super smash brothers... ish. the game that first came to mind was a copy of silent hill 2. There's also the original Metroid Prime. Although my sister does own a copy of super mario land on what's technically my old game boy color. Yeah, I sold my copy of pokemon yellow away. along with my childhood

Well, I have all the King's Quest and Police Quest games, but not the originals; I bought them in collector's editions for the PC primarily for nostalgia reasons. I also have Sid Meier's Pirates! but that's the 2004 version, not even the 1993 version I played as a kid.

I guess that means that the oldest game I own - that's not a re-release in any way, that is - is Final Fantasy IX for the PS1. And I bought that 2 years ago >_>

I still have a bundle of Saturn games sitting in my cupboard, though I'm not sure which one would be the oldest. Maybe NiGHTS into Dreams, from 1996. That's the only game I really need for that console anyway. Well, maybe that and Panzer Dragoon Saga.
