So. Fat Princess. Looks adorable right? Apparently not as it's driven a portly chick into an frothing, claw waving rage [http://shakespearessister.blogspot.com/2008/07/i-write-letters.html] What do you think? Is the game anti feminist? Is it discriminating against fat people?

*sigh* When will fat people stop crying about being fat and just hit the gym? (Also, don't read the comments. Made me want to vomit. One of these days people will realize that the best way to get people to take them seriously as a subsection of the population is to stop waving their banners that say, "I'M DIFFERENT! BUT DON'T TREAT ME DIFFERENT!")

Anyway, now that that's out of my system, I fail to see where the author finds fault with the game, all I got was a heavy helping of "omfg fu sony, fat is beautiful. Also, girls rock! Wooo!"

Get. Over. Yourselves.

In the interest of full disclosure, I am what you might describe as corpulent. I'm not a house, by any means, but I'm definitely heavy. This isn't something I'm ashamed of, however, and it's sure as shit not something that's going to make me blame my own diminished sense of self-worth out on some faceless corporation. It's also something people are in TOTAL CONTROL OF CHANGING. Don't like being fat and unattractive? Go to the fucking gym and eat better, fatty McFatfat.

I could see being offended if you were rushing in to rescue a prince and the opposing team kept exposing him to the gay as a way to keep you from being able to rescue him...

PS: Also, this game looks amazing and I'm going to buy it day 1 and recommend that all of my friends do the same.

PPS: If this game is anti-feminist, these chicks must HATE Super Mario Bros...

PPPS: I lied, there is some comment gold in that blog. Like this. [http://i33.tinypic.com/okapav.jpg]

Only if you already assumed that opinion before actually seeing or playing the game.

I don't really see what's wrong, but maybe I'm just not sensitive to whatever issue it's hitting. I think the fact that you're rescuing the fat princess means that her weight is a non-issue, doesn't it? Or am I being naive? I mean, if the point of the game was to try and make her thin, or if you lose the game because she gets too fat and you lose interest in her, then yes, that would be pretty harsh. But you're trying to rescue her. How's it any different from rescuing Princess Peach?

I think it depends on whether or not the little dudes you play as are uh... dudes or if you can play as dudetes. Otherwise the only female in the game is a trophy you collect in order to 'win' and to keep her yours you have to feed the ***** till she's so fat she can't move.

Which is kind of horrifying in it's own special way.

That's not really the point. From the sound of things she was beautiful and wonderful and everything a princess should be until the evil Blue (or Red really) team came along and stole her away. Now those bastards are making your once comely princess in to a fatty (or BBW?) so that you can't take her back. But you're still going to do it because your wonderful Red Kingdom loves her so much! Hmmm. So like end_boss said, her people are going to rescue her regardless of her weight. Yeah.

That blog's author is sounds more and more like another angry fat chick.

What the hell is this person's problem? The idea is to save the princess so not saving her would cause you to fail right? So how the fuck does people's aversion to the "non-beautiful" factor into this?

I hate how everyone in America feels they have the right to be offended there are groups for everything pretty soon we'll have to deal with F.F.G.A.G.F.P (fat female gamers against games with fat princesses)

When I first read the blog I didn't really get what the issue was, although the title isn't very good. But Decoy Doctorpus makes a good point, and now the game bothers me a little.

From the comments: "Please -- if Sony wants to start putting out more games like FFX that actually forced some thought into gender stereotypes I'll be happier, but outside of Oblivion IV -- done by Bethesda; and FFX -- I've not been impressed."

FFX forced thought into gender stereotypes? How? By making the main male protagonist look androgynous? Oy. Vey.

By making most of the female cast dress as exotic strippers I would have thought.

I'll honestly have to wait to play the game before I make a judgement on this. I must say though, it's sickeningly cute.

The comments where disgraceful. People signed up saying that a womens appearance isn't important and they where shouted down and called Trolls. Very hypocritical.

I lost all respect for that article (thing?) when I saw the second picture. Not very tasteful indeed.

Wow, she must have been one of those people that thought RE4 (and soon to be RE5), and Uncharted were racist (Yeah I know Yahtzee said it but he did it for the lolz! We all know there are no Asians in Uncharted).

Seriously though how can people think this is offensive or something?

Princess (you know, a KING'S DAUGHTER!) is kidnapped - they make her morbidly obese. You then rescue her and bring her back - I don't know what happens later but the point is, it's just a silly little game.

Maybe she'll get so mad tht she makes a game where a bunch of hot girls have to rescue a Fat Prince and then have sex with him to make him thin again.

Clearly... If the boys look like girls and the girls dress like sluts, then everyone will be SO CONFUSED they won't be able to be mad at us =^_^=

Anyway, I think we need to look up the rule of the internet that this blog falls under. Seems like ever since the RE5 race controversy, every tiny little aspect of potentially inflammatory game design has pissed somebody off.

Thankfully, this time we can get some good photochops out of it. >_<

To be fair. I think female gamers have a lot to be annoyed about. I was pretty taken aback by the new Ivy model in Soul calibur 4. I mean I love tits but jesus, it's a bit OTT.
I just don't think this game is an issue.

I don't see a problem with it. It seems like a crutch in order to get the team to work together to win. It's not actually meant to mean and suggest anything, it's just there in order to get the game to work.

Exactly. If you're going to complain, complain about something that isn't so clearly a caricature.
