It's gonna be the game to get me to get a ps4. Hopefully they do a bundle or something with FFXV, tired of seein that uncharted one lol.

I am not hype about it so it isn't day 1 but it is a FF so I do wanna play it. And hey, I actually loved XIII and this is still XIII versus in my eyes so I am looking forward to it.

Right now I am doing World of FF still, and that game is actually great. Haven't even gotten pokemon yet either. Such a busy season.

So far, I'm not nearly as impressed as I'd hoped. I hope it improves as I play.

Apparently they cut huge chunks of content from the final product. The huge, epic invasion from the original game was torn out so that they could basically sell it separately as a movie. I know they changed directors, and it's starting to show. This is not the same game originally promised. It feels like a drastically watered down, cut version of the original.

AKA, FF15 feels more like Princess and the Cobbler.

Only played the game for a few hours so far but really enjoying it(granted I also enjoyed FF13 and 12; played all mainline Final Fantasy games and the only one I hated was 10). The characters in FF15 look like a j-pop band on a road trip but this gets pushed to the background as you play as their personalities are really likeable and have that distinct JRPG charm. The gameplay is really fun as well and feels like a genuine evolution of turn-based combat. It's more dynamic and intuitive without becoming a full blown action game. Though, FF13 already made great strides in that regard but that game was still really ingrained in menus. FF15 feels like a perfect compromise between the two(action game and 'traditional' JRPG). I also really love the world and the setting. Again a kind of really good mesh between realistic locations and genre specific fantasy that doesn't feel out of place. All in all first impressions are really good.

I would definitely recommend to watch Kingslaive when playing the game. It provides a ton of background info and is actually pretty good in it's own way. I thought this would be another shit CGI movie like those Resident Evil ones but Kingslaive is far better. I also enjoyed it much more than Advent Children.

Games fun, gets a kind of reverse ff13 thing going where you start out in an open world then get stuck doing multiple chapters that are very linear with no option to return to the open world until almost the end.

Also the product placement, holy fuck, I talked about it months ago when the demo had all the camping equipment branded with the Coleman logo, but apparently they didn't stop there. Audi, and Nissin cup noodles are also in the game, with stands selling actual cup noodles like what you buy at the grocery store, the Kingsglaive movie also apparently has Beats headphones, cause Dr. Dre exists in this world apparently.

All of that pales in comparison to seeing an American Express sticker outside a store in the game. How the hell does that even work? Is America a country in this world now, is there like another landmass outside this one where the US exists? Final fantasy has credit cards? What's the conversion rate from Gil to the American dollar? Is final fantasy America like reality or do they have chocobos and airships instead of jets and tanks?

Still, fun game, I'm enjoying it.

Audi actually made a real life version of the brocar in the game so it is more than simple placement XD.

I read more reviews about the game and I come to a conclusion that the Developers even if didn't made a "glorious" FF game like they wanted to be, it have a lot of heart.
Call me a fool, but it have a familiar feeling like when I was play a Persona 3D game.
Of course I never played the game [i am waiting the PC Version], but it is FAR better than the pretentious FF13.
I hope I am right about this.

I'm only a few hours in. I can't swing the download of the day one patch until next month, lest I incur the wrath of my rural-address, 15 GB monthly limit, so I'm trying not to play too far in in case something major was added with the patch... though based on what I've seen on let's plays up to the same point I am, the only difference I've noticed at all is that the "Stealth" rating was changed to the more accurate "Finesse" rating.

Digging it so far. Reminds me of FF XII in terms of tone, but much more hands-on, which I appreciate. I absolutely love the dynamic between the main characters, especially the little touches, such as the way they're programmed to interact, their banter, and how they each have different gaits, mannerisms, and subtle gestures while traversing the world map. Tiny touches that do a lot to show that these guys are friends.

I'll freely admit that my digging it so far doesn't guarantee much, though. I was equally digging FF XIII about this far into the game, as well... back when I assumed the linearity to be a quirk of the opening stages, and the lack of growth options or input in combat to be the game easing me into things.

Still, even in terms of setting, scope, and characters, I can honestly say I'm digging it more than I ever did XIII. Most fun I've had with an RPG so far this year... though it likely benefits from delays preventing it from directly competing with P5 for me. XD

Long time fan of the series here. I'm around 40 hours in (no spoilers, I promise), and I haven't played one this good since FF VII.

From the very start it's obvious that you're in one of the most incredible game worlds you've ever seen. It's been painstakingly put together with the same attention to detail and beautiful little touches that made 7 so memorable. Even in its most drab environments, it bleeds atmosphere. Apart from the gas stations, everywhere feels unique.

The combat system horrified me at first to be honest, but once you realise that the "Wait" function isn't just a handy tool for beginners, but actually pivotal to the whole affair, it's f*cking incredible. Seemingly simple at first, you can unleash devastating attacks with your buddies once you crack it.

And that, I think, is why it's great. Previous FF titles (VIII-XIII) all failed to live up to VII. Sure, some were great (IX and X particularly), but others not so much, but all of them were trying to do the impossible - improve perfection. XV hasn't done that.

Instead, they've remembered how to create an incredible game world, and struck off in a completely new direction of gameplay (for them) designed to appeal to a whole new generation of gamers, while clinging on to its ATB roots.

Well worth the wait.

Is the wait battle system better than the default system?

MMMMMH, I COULD REALLY GO FOR SOME NISSIN CUP NOODLES RIGHT ABOUT NOW. I HEAR IT'S THE ULTIMATE FLAVOUR EXPERIENCE.

...

Everything I've seen of it indicates it's a piece of shit.

Although the character design alone was enough to ensure I would never pay money for it.

The problem I've always had with FF is that the combat is shallow and dull. Having played the demo, I think that XV might work for me, because the combat is now still shallow, but satisfying enough to compensate. Ideally I'd like it to be ported to the Switch, because I significantly prefer RPGs on handhelds.

No clip has ever had me more sold on a game.

I doubt the switch could run it, it already struggle on the PS4 normal.

So bork the resolution. I don't care about textures that much.

I have managed to beat it due to recently breaking my leg and having nothing else to do. I think it is a hell of a lot better than Final Fantasy 13 but honestly that is not saying much as I am of the opinion that there was not s single redeeming thing about 13 or it's squeals.

Combat system is not too bad, the series has defiantly had worse. The music was good enough tho it is not all that memorable (to me anyway).

As for the story and characters, I was not all that impressed. None of them were outright terrible (looking at you 13) but I did not find them all that interesting and Noctis did get on my nerves at some points. Honestly I found the story a little dull which is really disappointing to me as story is number 1 for me when to comes to FF .

Anyway that's how I feel about it. As others have said in the thread, when it comes to FF you are always going to get a lot of different opinions. For the record 9 is my favourite, I believe that there has not been a good FF since 10, 12 was a Return of the Jedi rip off and 13 was the gaming equivalent of dog shit. If you have the same opinions as me regarding those you may very well feel the same.

My recommendation, wait for it to go down in price and take a chance. I don't believe it is worth the full price and I would sure as hell not recommend that anyone base their choice of whether to get a PS4/Xbone based on this game.

Yeahhh... as generally positive as my experience with the game has been, I can't deny that was cringe to watch... I don't mind most of the product placement in the game, since it's in the background and logical to see. If the heroes are gonna be camping anyway, may as well be using one of the more popular brands of gear, and if your idea calls for a cool car, may as well have it designed by people who make cool cars for a living... the noodles though? My god, the noodles... Gives the Pepsi scene in World War Z a run for its money.

... on an unrelated note, this post by me is sponsored by loot crate! Yes, Loot Crate, the service that overcharges you for a box of miscellaneous crap that will, at best, sit on one of your shelves collecting dust for years. Use promocode "Balladbird" at checkout for ten percent off your first haul of random junk! Loot Crate... we basically own youtube, at this point.

Is the main character still an emo? I never could stand FF emo protagonists. Its like they have a design board written for that they thought made 7 the wild success it was. And instead of writing 'good story' 'amazing atmosphere' and 'heart' they wrote 'esoteric weather based name' 'emo' and 'gackt'. When at least Cloud had a reason for his initial emo'ness and got over it during the course of the story (which they subsequently forgot in the movie).
