I'm officially 100% sold on this. He said it was difficult. Twilight Princess was disappointingly easy.

Dammit, so many games, so little time and money :(

It looks fantastic and I can tell Nintendo really put a lot of effort into this one. Certainly will make the fans happy, and bring new ones into appreciating the whole game overall. But, I shall not get it ever.

Why? Because I never played a Zelda game. Never played as Link except in Super Smash Brothers Brawl. I just never tried out the series period. Sad on my part, but couldn't find a reason to want to play the games after several games of Link came out by the time I found out it was around.
If you've never tried out the series why not start with this one?
To me, I have to start out with the first game or chapter to truly appreciate how it all started. Not a bad idea to try this game out, but I don't own a Wii. However, my brotherly friend is getting this game since he has been a dedicated fan who owns a Wii so I might check with him. But to own it myself... probably won't do so. My money is focused on Skyrim.. yep.
With the exception of the overarching lore, all Zelda games are episodic and standalone. While there are sequels in the series, Zelda is a lot like Final Fantasy; thematically similar but with little to none story carryover. I could list on one hand the Zelda games that actually have a backstory you need another game to understand. But I can understand your position, and I feel that way about most series. But believe me, you miss nothing by skipping the portables or even the NES games.

Eh, it's Zelda.

To their credit, Nintendo seem to be trying to do interesting things with the game, but I am personally uninterested in Zelda in the same way I am uninterested in Sesame Street and Dora the Explorer.
What is this?
Is this a joke?
Should I be laughing?
Am I missing something here, because I feel like I'm missing something that makes this something other than an immature attempt to label Zelda as childish. Show me a five year old who can handle] Majora's Mask; shit, show me a five year old who can handle Link to the Past.

I don't have a Wii, and I won't be buying one, but it's nice to see them finally giving Wii owners a solid Zelda entry.

I'm excited, but I'd be much more excited if they were letting me play the game with a regular controller. This motion control nonsense wore out its welcome back in 2008.

Furthermore, Shigeru Miyamoto should come to mind, a man who has done nothing but good for the games he has put his hand into and is a walking game seal of quality. The man is a living video game legend that commands respect.
Don't get me wrong, Shiggy is like my god in all, but even gods make mistakes, look at Wii Music.

Anyway, yeah, this is Zelda, of course it's good, the only one I don't like is Zelda II: Adventure of Link and even that game has its fans (CDi games don't count for the obvious reasons). I'm more excited for this than Skyrim, although I want Skyrim a bit more since it'll give me more bang for my buck.

I for one love the art style, and can't wait for the motion controls I've dreamed of since the Wii's controller was first unveiled.

Link saves princess from Ganon. There's a sword who's also a chick or something. You fight bosses at the end of dungeons using weapons acquired from said dungeon. Sigh...

Zelda is cool and all and the art direction looks nice for a Wii game, but great cthulhu I am sick and tired of the Zelda formula. Don't get me wrong I loved Majora's Mask, Link to the Past and Phantom Hourglass, but it just starts to lose its appeal over the years.

Give me a game where I'm Linebeck or Ganon or ANYONE ELSE and we'll talk.
Couldn't you say this about so many things?

Isn't the same thing - in principal - true with James Bond, and when the creators have buckled to pressure to make something different it turns out crap.

Of all the franchises of this generation, this is hardly the one that has been most saturated. Considering Twilight Princess was really a Gamecube game, we haven't even seen a full Zelda game for this whole generation. In the time that Zelda has been away from home consoles we have had:
-6 Call of duty games
-4 Halo titles
-4 Assassin's Creed games
-3 Gears of war
-3 Uncharted titles
-3 Resistance games
-3 Stalker games
-3 Tomb Raider games
-2 killzone games
-2 mario games
-2 bioshock games
-TF2's stupendous evolution and expansion reforming into a free-2-play / pay-for-hats game.

Personally, I'd really like to return to Zelda's world of adventure. It certainly has been long enough of a wait. It's not like over the past 5 years you have been forced to play Link at this time, no you have been playing FPS badasses and power-armour wearing space warriors. Maybe the occasional spring footed platformer but nothing like Link. Link really would be a breath of fresh air for all the games I play.

Who cares if it "involves a princess" (PS: it's not always about "rescuing princess") and is it really a problem to have a recurring villain like Ganon? it's a return to familiar tropes that are used only by this game.

I'm just annoyed that Skyward Sword is pretty much the ONLY reason I am interested in getting a Wii.

And now, so did IGN [http://au.wii.ign.com/articles/121/1212220p1.html]. They even said it's "the greatest Zelda game ever created".

I haven't used my Wii in a while but I can't say no to a good Zelda game.
