People are shaped by environments and when your environment consists of people hurling abuse at you and looking like you're the most terrifying thing they've ever seen, you tend to become pretty sour, I imagine.

Not really, them being gypsies is an excuse for everyone to treat them like shit and that's what makes violent people.

Once they're violent people, there's not much you can do but acknowledge how they were forged into being as such and try to avoid doing it to people yourself.

The confusion is that here in the US the term "Gypsy" is only used to refer to the Romany people. I had no idea it was also used as a general slang term for migrants.
