Personally more excited about all the SEGA remakes but will definitely be keeping an eye on this.

Halo 2 was my favorite of the first 3. The arbiter missions were the best evah.

So more power to them. But what, will they come out of Halo 3 HD next? Not sure how that would work...
Nah, then they move on to 3D, so Halo 3...D. You know it makes sense!

Seems like just a quick cash grab and a waste of resources, I'd honestly prefer just playing the original Halo 2 than pay more money for updated graphics. This idea seems to suggest that it is necessary for a good game to have good graphics, which is clearly not true. It seems pretty lazy on the behalf of the developers too.

Before anyone says it

THIS IS NOT A FUCKING CASHGRAB

A halo 2 remake would be nice, we have this long extended story that some are not exposed to so a remake of a very popular game would be nice to see. Plus, you can probably tell its aged about the same way as World of Warcraft.

I did play it the other day though, it was still hella fun.

If 343 keeps to the same 3 year timeline that all the other core games have had then I would bet on seeing a Halo 2 Anniversary in 2014 as a content rap up like ODST was for Halo 3 and CEA was for Reach.
CE: 2001
H2: 2004
H3: 2007
Reach: 2010
H4: 2012(development started before Reach released) than I
H5:2015?

These expansion type games tend to be released the year before the next release which happily coincides with Halo 2's 10 year Anniversary.

Halo 2 is the only game in the series that really still needs an update. Although I am fairly confident 360 games will be backwards compatible in the next gen. Both Sony and Microsoft would have to be colossally stupid to not include backwards compatibility after this long of a cycle.

That said I wouldn't expect them to make last gen xbox games compatible with this upcoming generations. It would be odd to leave just one game in your flagship series high and dry in the next console cycle

The real question is this; if Halo fans every where will be able to get Halo 2-styled gameplay for the multiplayer, will they give a shit about Halo 4?

Probably not. So I am sure the maps will just be an update for Halo 4's multiplayer at some point.

As I was telling my brother no longer than an hour ago:
They only remade the first one because they're trying to compete with Call of Duty by pumping out yearly games, and it just so happened that it had been 10 years since Halo: Combat Evolved. Otherwise they would've made something along the lines of Halo 3: ODST-2: Electric Boogaloo, etc.

You guys do know that the PC version of Halo CE's multiplayer is still going strong, even today, right?
Seriously? Hmm, whenever I try connecting to the lobby it's completely empty.

OT: It would be awesome, but like CEA it would be kinda superfluous

I was hoping they'd do this actually. Get all the Halo story bits on one console. Sounds like a good idea to me. And Halo 2 looked good in it's day, but it's aged the poorest of the lot. So a graphical upgrade of the campaign makes good sense to me.

I couldn't care less about the multiplayer. I already played it enough. And if they left in the things that most people remember fondly, I'd never touch it. I don't need to be BXRed to death anymore in this lifetime, thanks.

Either way, I'll buy it. Love Halo's story and would love a chance to replay this one without the graphical hiccups. Do want please.

Why not a better game, like Timesplitters: HD Collection.

Please no.

I mean, yes I love Halo as much as the next guy, but I can live without Halo 2 HD. And what's next after that? With the flood gates opened (no pun intended) what's to stop them remaking Halo 3, and so on with the next generation of games?

Halo 1 HD was fine (could've used more work though), but any more after that? No thanks.

...

...ah, who am I kidding? I'd buy it in a second.

Mine is currently collecting dust, i would play it, but i can't be on XBL at the same time =\ and i like being in party's with my friends. A HD remake is more than welcome in my eyes.

And as you say, it hasn't really aged well, it's still a beautiful game, but the last 8, nearly 9 years have not helped it at all.

I would think to see it next year, it will only be a HD remake, not a complete overhall of the game. remember the first Halo Remake came in 2011.

Kinda makes sense really.

I'm surprised so many people here actually like Halo 2's campaign. Apart from the beginning and all the stuff on Earth (which was awesome) it was so fucking boring. The pacing of this game was absolutely disasterous, and the ending... good god, the ending!
