The series is being rebooted, how can you have the son of the main character as the protagonist in a reboot? That....doesn't seem very likely.
People just don't like the main character because he looks TOO different. You can't even tell that they're the same person. It'd be like if Paramount Pictures went with the Black Actor to play Peter Parker in the Spider Man reboot.
Personally, I don't like this new Dante because he looks like an fucking twig and I'm suppose to expect this guy to fight monsters? He looks like one of those guys who hangs around behind the school smoking pot.
Again.. I'm waiting for a source that specifies this is a reboot...

Seriously, all you have to do is Google "DMC" reboot. You don't have to wait for crap.
If you cant tell already... I'm gonna be a dick about this. Untill I get a solid statement from Capcom saying it's a reboot all the crap youve linked is pure speculation. AT no point has anyone in authority over the dev stated THIS IS A REBOOT

Happy now?
No? lol
It says purportedly reported as a reboot... as in its a assumed its a reboot. Once again thats not Capcom explicitly saying its a reboot is it?
*Sigh* What is the fucking point of arguing with you? If people were assuming that it was a reboot, but it wasn't Ninja Theory or Capcom would come out and say "No no, it's a sequel." or "No, it's not Dante" or all of that crap. They wouldn't leave the world guessing like that. There is nothing worse then being left in the dark.
If people already assume it's a reboot and are correct, then there isn't really any reason to give an announcement. Look at Valve's E3 announcement, people were assuming that it was an Episode 3 thing, they were wrong and Valve told them flat out.
On an off-topic note, Wikipedia has even listed DmC as a Reboot. They don't add things or allow things to be edited without a trustworthy refrence, so I would assume it's safe to say that, "Yes, it is a Reboot." Please, enough with the denial. You have nothing to back up your theory and the only you're doing now is completely ignoring anything we say.
No I'm ignoring what YOU say. The point of this thread was to be about alternate theories, not jumping on the bandwagon. Why shouldnt I question what evryone thinks? Why shouldnt I question an ambiguos trailer? Why should a dev spoon feed you all the information about a game straight away? You cite examples where devs do but I could cite examples where they dont. Look at Dragon Age 2, there are loads of ideas aboiut who the main character is in realation to the wider world and Bioware are keeping their cards close to their chest on his whole identity. And ffs the trailors only been around a short time, if it is Capcoms intention to create speculation theyre not going to dispell it after a fucking week are they?
They will if they will lose money over it. There are a lot of people who are on the fence about the game just based on the idea of this being the new Dante. In the video game industry, a lot of the sales pass on by word of mouth. I say game A is really good, but game B is really bad. Which will you buy?
The developers aim is to get as many sales on Opening day as possible. Anything afterward will be by word of mouth. If you make a bad triple A game and you only sell a few thousand copies, do you think those who disliked your game will turn to their friends and recommend it? Especially if they're big DMC fans.
What you're doing isn't questioning what everyone else is thinking. It's denial. We have evidence to back our arguments up, granted it isn't much, but it is more then you have to support yours. But when Kotaku and Game Informer and even the Escapist itself says "It's probably a Reboot." then you don't think Capcom may be worried that people may have the wrong idea of the plot or of the direction of the game? There is not releasing a lot of info at once and leaving room for speculation by the fanbase and then there is leaving people with false information.
The latter wouldn't be supported to well and face it, this looks NOTHING like Devil May Cry. If they were to make a sequel to anything, they wouldn't be changing the art design of it, the main character or any major stuff like that.
You don't call ODST a sequel to Halo 3 do you?
