same thing I got but my friend keeps saying it's wrong. She says it's 1.something.(her words not mine)Quaxar said:16x+3 = -14 |-3
16x = -17 |:16
x = -17/16
Correct me if I'm wrong.
Well unless you're missing a negative sign somewhere or modulus is involved I don't really see how it can be a positive number...Jinxzy said:same thing I got but my friend keeps saying it's wrong. She says it's 1.something.(her words not mine)
You're both right. -17/16=-1.0625Jinxzy said:same thing I got but my friend keeps saying it's wrong. She says it's 1.something.(her words not mine)Quaxar said:16x+3 = -14 |-3

Well yeah, -17/16 will be 1. something. Or -1. something actually.Jinxzy said:same thing I got but my friend keeps saying it's wrong. She says it's 1.something.(her words not mine)Quaxar said:16x+3 = -14 |-3

16x+3 = -14 <=>Jinxzy said:I've been sitting here thinking about some math problems to help me study for our basic math test but one problem my friend game me I cant figure out. Can you solve it?
16x+3 = -14 What is X?
ture but I only needed the fraction. trying to keep it simple.Woodsey said:Well yeah, -17/16 will be 1. something. Or -1. something actually.Jinxzy said:same thing I got but my friend keeps saying it's wrong. She says it's 1.something.(her words not mine)Quaxar said:16x+3 = -14 |-3

She be trolling. Tell her that it's equal to 2 and ask her to disprove you with her workings.Jinxzy said:same thing I got but my friend keeps saying it's wrong. She says it's 1.something.(her words not mine)Quaxar said:16x+3 = -14 |-3

Assuming your friend said -1.0625, both of you are correct. I don't see how you could be mistaken, unless the question specified a decimal answer instead of a fractional answer or vice versa.Jinxzy said:same thing I got but my friend keeps saying it's wrong. How about checking her equations? Because if she claims it's a positive number there has to be something wrong. Unless she solved for -x, but that would be a bit strange.Jinxzy said:same thing I got but my friend keeps saying it's wrong. She says it's 1.something.(her words not mine)Quaxar said:16x+3 = -14 |-3
