Furthermore, I don't think Geohot should be off the hook either. Yeah, maybe it wasn't cool to strip away the Other OS feature, considering what the Air Force was able to accomplish with it, but let's be serious here, the main draw of "jailbreaking" (or however you want to put it) your PS3 is so that you can play pirated games on it, so Sony was completely justified in shutting him down. Also, watching guys like Geohot and Anonymous in action, I can't help but think that, to some extent, their actions are a little mindless. It's as if they value the act of hacking more than the purpose of said hacking, if that makes sense.
