So how would you have made Dantes Inferno then?

Just as a side note I picked up my copy today and have battled my way to the end of purgatory. All I can say is its getting better the further in you go and damn challenging even on a moderate setting.
You don't go to Purgatory in the game I wouldn't imagine. What with it being called Inferno and all.

What more could you want?
A game about the Inferno in Dante's poem? That'd be a fun game. Honestly, I feel like EA also scaled down the epic of the poem and replaced it with violence. Dude rode a flying boat over pits of fire, walked with giants and there were some really squirmish stories in there I didn't really want to read.

Well I'm playing it now and if your only problem with it is some outrage over percieved rape of literature then your missing out.Its not coming across as tacky or tasteless, but then again my sense of whats crossing the line might not be as fine tuned as yours. And to be honest you'll find nothing here to interest you if you've got a Playstation and GOW.
Yes there's breasts, assuming your not a total prude, nothing so far thats felt like tits for tits sake.Eveythings felt within context so far.Though I haven't made it to lust so I'll reserve judgement till I have.To bad everyone else can't as well.
The pacing is fast, and the back story fills you in just enough to give you Dantes motivation for proceeding which to be honest I'm so far not connecting with, but as i say I'm willing to reserve judgement the further I progress. Also I had my Girlfriend in my ear talking about other thing so haven't been able to give it my full attention.
First impressions is its meant to be played as an action game,as an amazing spectacle. We all knew that already though.
You saying it isn't tasteless is not an opinion. It IS tasteless and tactless.

Adj. 1. tactless - lacking or showing a lack of what is fitting and considerate in dealing with others; "in the circumstances it was tactless to ask her age"
untactful
- lacking regard for the rights or feelings of others; "shockingly inconsiderate behavior"
- lacking in refinement or grace or good taste
- having or showing a sense of what is fitting and considerate in dealing with others; "she was tactful enough not to shatter his illusion"; "a tactful remark eased her embarrassment"
2. tactless - revealing lack of perceptiveness or judgment or finesse; "an inept remark"; "it was tactless to bring up those disagreeable"
inept

Thing has tits. Those do not worry me, but the way they are presented throughout the game is immature. Same goes for the narrative structure of the game, the violence, etc. I do like a lot of things about the game. You seem to think I hate it based on the fact it is ruining something I love. I like the cutscenes, and I think they do I good job of hell (bar the 8th circle. I mean, what the fuck guys?!) but they do present a good story.

Now, I like tasteless things in context. I do like some crude humour too. This IS tactless and tasteless. To argue against that would be to argue that a cow isn't a cow. My main point here and the point of most other people is that: it does not belong in this context!
Remaking Fight Club would piss people off it were done as a frat boy movie yeah? So now you wonder why people are pissed off when an ancient poem it remade into a hack and slash tactless game.

This is why thankfully most of you aren't developers.
Something doesn't have to be original to be good.
Let's take an example God Of War isn't original, it's based off of Devil May Cry but God Of War is really good, right? So is Dante's Inferno, yet people are bitching that it's a God Of War clone...Then why don't you ***** about GOW being a rip-off of Devil May Cry?

Even if it is a rip off of the battle engine, is that a bad thing? It's really, really good and they have made it considerably different to GOW's

Y'know I think people just like something to ***** about, you do that...I will enjoy my games

I see so my opinion that it isn't tacky and tasteless is made a mute point by your opinion that it is tacky and tasteless. You do see how claiming it's tacky is just your opinion right, not fact.

Also I appear to have jumped to the assumption, according to you, that you hate this game based on it ruining something you love, which is incorrect it seems...Except for the fact you DO hate this game based on it ruining something you love. You seem a bit confused on that point.

I find it interseting you would use Fight Club as an example, and shock!,when you didn't even mention the original book by Palahnuik from which the movie was based. Not once.Considering your stance in context of your responses so far I find this a bit confusing also.Just on that point I pretty much consider all Brad Pits scenes in that movie frat boy worthy already. But enjoyed the movie anyway.Just my opinion.

i would of made it a psychological horror game, made to disturb and creep people out and not go for the '14 year old testosterone' action game style it went for.

My first thought was "So this is essentially GoW with a different story... Awesome" GoW is good in many ways, but personally it's the story behind what's going on that I like most, so when they change the story to something else equally interesting, I don't see the problem.

Wow, lots of hate for this game.

To those of you saying it's been hyped by reviewers, *ahem*, a lot of them are saying the same things you are. Mostly that it's a "God of War" clone.

Also, why are you so shocked that it's similar to God of War? The lead designer of God of War worked on this game. Duh.

And finally, you're all bashing a game you haven't even played? Except eels. I respect that guy. He at least has some common sense. Seriously, it's a VIDEO GAME. What were you expecting? It's well put together, the art is beautiful, the cutscenes were movie quality, the story was INSPIRED BY THE POEM. That's the key thing really, it wasn't meant to be a direct telling of the poem, it's inspired by the poem. The team drew heavily on the poem for everything in this game, which you would know if you'd taken the time to do a little research instead of closing your mind and saying "BUT I DON'T WANNA!" It's just as bad as people that bash gays or blacks. Discrimination.

If it HAD to be a game I would have made it a sort of survival horror. One where you can't fight your enemies because they are demons from hell, and you can't really fight those. It would be up to your wiles and survival abilities to avoid demons and in the case of some of the more intellectual ones talk yourself out of getting killed if you get caught by them. Otherwise it would essentially be like the poem, a sort of tour of hell where you can see and interact with the victims of hell.
actualy that sounds really good.

I would not even consider making this game (but of course EA is the Devil)

it takes every possible element of GOW except the good part, the clever puzzles. It shits all over the poem and is a crime against Christianity

im glad EA failed again

I wouldn't. The very idea of Dante's Inferno as a game is a horrible idea. They completely bastardize the original poem with the very existence of this game.
How can you bastardize something that's been around for hundreds of years, and will continue to be around for hundreds of years to come?

As for the question, I would have turned it into a horror RPG.

By bastardizing it? Just because it's been around for several hundred years doesn't mean the story can't be corrupted, destroyed, changed, or like I said, bastardized. Time has nothing to do with it.

That's a bunch of silly none sense, listen to what you're saying.

The game hasn't changed the poem one bit, it's not like University professors will demand their students to refer to the game first when asked to write an essay over Dante Inferno. It'll stay the same for hundreds of years to come and the game will be forgotten within a year...so how did it bastardize it?

This isn't like the Star Wars prequels where it's considered canon by the original creator of the work.

And how does time have nothing to do with it, time has everything to do with it, if it hadn't stood the test of time, you nor I would have ever heard of it.

You seem far too much like a troll for my liking. Please reread through what you've said, consider it for a good long while and then come back to me. As of now, you have no ground to stand on and your points are incredibly hollow. Good day.
