Yeah I also left TOR around February and it was not because of anything with EA or Bioware but it had to do that there was little to nothing to do end game after hitting 50. I have a blast with the game and I loved my Sith Sorcerer but with little to nothing to do end game except a few dungeons, Ilum, and dailies; there really was not a point to play the game in my opinion of course.

Yeah, because devs just happen to become shitty and die after a few years of milking when they're purchased by EA?
Could be, has anyone looked in depth at who actually made the games and compared to previous games from the same studio?

I stopped buying EA games after Origin couldn't hold a stable connection to the servers and wouldn't even add friends when I wanted it to. As a result, I didnt buy Mass Effect 3, or anything else from them, and I don't plan to. Its not some big boycott move on my part. I just don't like to be fucked around. I want to play my games when I feel like it, not just when the servers are working.

As a note, I also stopped buying through Steam because I didn't like them having so much control over my games.

They don't really, the only games that require steam to be running are Valve games, the rest of them you could close Steam completely then just go to the directory and run them from there, DRM free, plus there's offline mode anyway. Granted if you're a dick you could get banned from Steam, but then just like real life; don't be a dick.

the only example i can think of right now is westwood.
ea took them in and opened up another division, westwood pacific.
westwood pacific made c&c red alert 2. and westwood made some bad desicions.
but closing them completely down was a bit rash.
I said "in depth", as in the actual people, not the studio.

It was more about getting locked out of my account for a week after I couldn't log in. Valve is good at many things, but they have atrocious customer service. At least EA's customer service is present, even if they are utterly incompetent.

Its not a boycott, just a consumer choice. Why would a buy from steam when there is so many great game services that don't make me log into steam when I want to play them. Id rather support GOG or GamerGate than Steam, because I prefer their terms of service.

I did try running Bioshock a week ago from the directory, but it runs through Steam. I think id need a new .exe for it.

While I'm completely indifferent towards EA, I do commend you for saying this.

I pray no harm befalls you. I suggest putting salt along every doorway and window.

OT: I tried SWTOR. Didn't click with me.

But hey! Guild Wars 2 coming out . . . eventually.
Knowing the hate that gets thrown at EA, I'm going to need more than salt to protect myself :p

I don't personally like MMOs, but not playing one that you like because it is published by EA is just silly.
May I ask why you like EA? They publish some good games but it now has a reputation as the gaming industry's giant STD habouring dick. Disliking EA is different to disliking EA published games.

Fair enough, their customer service team IS pretty sloppy, I'll give you that, if you prefer X over Y then that's fair enough, Steam suits my needs, although GoG and GamersGate are both great services that I always check myself anyway.

Last EA game I played was Dead Space 2. I got it 2nd hand so they ain't getting any of my money. I have been actively avoiding EA products (Ubisoft and Activision too) due to their horrible and insulting business practices.

The games are just not worth the sacrifice of dignity and respect.

So I am done playing any of there games, and if I do bet your ass it will be used.
Sound off if anyone is with me.
Oooh. I did the exact same thing. It's a shame because I wanted to find out what happens in ME3 and play Kingdoms of Amalur.

And yes, I now pick them up used. If they aren't going to have an ultimate collection for games like they did with Dragon Age: Origins then I couldn't care less. Currently the only thing I boycott is new EA games but I'm starting to consider other Publishers as well. Namely THQ and their nickel-diming of the Saints Row franchise.

Personally, I think TOR is too good of a game to boycott because of other gripes against EA. Big developers like it pay attention to money flow, so I put my money into the products I like in the hopes that they'll pay attention.

However, I also recently ended my subscription to TOR, but not out of any spite. I simply haven't been playing it much. It's still great and I still have plenty to do, but I'm just not in the mood for it at the moment. I've done this before with it; I'll resubscribe once I get a hankering to play again.

Captcha is "cool heads prevail." Indeed.

Yeah I am done playing swtor. It has nothing to do with the game itself actually, I like the combat, and the story, and my operative is a badass, But they work with ea.
So you bought the game, are having fun with it, yet are going to stop and deprive yourself of a fun activity that gives you pleasure to send a non-message to a company that will never hear of it, and even if they did, would not care?

Alrighty then, carry on. To each his own indeed.

For the record, I buy and play games I like, regardless of who publishes them. It's that simple. And even then, I pay vastly more attention to the developer, than the publisher. Buying or depriving yourself of games you might enjoy due to corporate reasons makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to me. I really do wish more people would go back to playing games for fun, rather than to make a point about corporations.

I don't care if it's EA, Activision, or some shitty studio around the corner, if you have a game that looks like I'd like playing, I'll buy it. If you don't, then I won't. Simplicity itself.

Well, to be honest, it's more that I have no problem with them. Everybody thinks that if a game is published by EA, then anything bad in that game is the fault of EA. That makes no sense to me.

I also like spiting those raging fanboys.

Well every time a game is made by a company other than EA its good, but when EA steps in our memories and fun times are destroyed.

It keeps happening over and over again and rarely does a EA published game turn out well. We just put two and two together, or atleast I do.

There is, maybe one, EA published game I'm looking forward to right now and that's Dead Space 3. EA just doesn't pub any games I want to buy and it feels like every studio they eat up either dies before it's time or starts pumping out really shitty games (looking at you, ME3). Plus, EA's leaders are soooooo out of touch with gamers and gaming, it's sadly hysterical.
