I like EA, so I find your decision foolish.

Each to their own.
While I'm completely indifferent towards EA, I do commend you for saying this.

I pray no harm befalls you. I suggest putting salt along every doorway and window.

OT: I tried SWTOR. Didn't click with me.

But hey! Guild Wars 2 coming out . . . eventually.
Knowing the hate that gets thrown at EA, I'm going to need more than salt to protect myself :p

I don't personally like MMOs, but not playing one that you like because it is published by EA is just silly.
May I ask why you like EA? They publish some good games but it now has a reputation as the gaming industry's giant STD habouring dick. Disliking EA is different to disliking EA published games.
Well, to be honest, it's more that I have no problem with them. Everybody thinks that if a game is published by EA, then anything bad in that game is the fault of EA. That makes no sense to me.

I also like spiting those raging fanboys.
Well every time a game is made by a company other than EA its good, but when EA steps in our memories and fun times are destroyed.

It keeps happening over and over again and rarely does a EA published game turn out well. We just put two and two together, or atleast I do.
Well I think Mass Effect 3 is fantastic, and the only game series I can think of that became bad after EA bought it is Crysis.

quit swtor a few months back.

while leveling is great, once you hit 50, it gets boring real quick.

pvp is boring other than huttball, and pve was a complete joke.

EA games haven't been worth the bandwidth for a long time, and I've never had restrictions on bandwidth.
I think all these boycotts are still bologney, EA does not care and people will still buy their games.

Yeah I am done playing swtor. It has nothing to do with the game itself actually, I like the combat, and the story, and my operative is a badass, But they work with ea.
It started with mass effect 3. While I hated the ending, the game as a hole I enjoyed, so while I was annoyed I let it pass.
But then the battlefield servers problem came up and I was floored. This was a basic thing, the ability to play a fucking game as is online. Now I can't even get that shit.
I feel a little bad because I know that not everyone there are evil assholes, but I can't abide giving any of my money to ea. So I am done playing any of there games, and if I do bet your ass it will be used.
Sound off if anyone is with me.
Welcome to the group! Worry not, there are still plenty of good games out there. Games you can actually own. Hell some of them are even free! You've been through hell and come out on the otherside in full knowledge of which company put you there. There is hope!

Personally, I don't take such policies as "I will boycott EA games", as I know there are games EA makes that I will like.

However, EA is slowly killing off its Devs to me.
Bioware: Dead.
DICE: Life support after BF3. Nothing to do with the server issues console owners apparently have, but more the fact that they made it too... I hate using this word... Consolised. Other than the graphics, the game seems designed for consoles, and it makes it annoying to play for me.
Crytek: Coma, pending Crysis 3. Crysis 1 was great, 2 was... Bleh, 3... We'll see.
Anything else they make: Generally not interested in anyway, so dead.

If they release an amazing game, I'll buy it, but Bioware I know is unlikely to ever again release a game I find amazing, DICE seem to be focusing on either faster paced, smaller mapped combat, or large, empty combat with tanks for their games - not what I like - and Crytek I'm watching carefully.

They're doing better than Activision or Ubisoft ATM. Activision has Blizzard that keeps me, Ubisoft had DX:HR, but other than that... Nope.

Yeah, because devs just happen to become shitty and die after a few years of milking when they're purchased by EA?
Considering their track record... I'd be willing to say yes.

Westwood - Acquired in 1998, closed in 2003.
Mythic - Acquired in 2006, have only released Warhammer Online since then.
Maxis - Acquired in 1997, died after Sim City 4 and were folded into another studio. They had a final "Hurrah" with Spore and whatever reanimated husk is being thrown at Sim City 5, it's not Maxis.
Bullfrog - Acquired in 1995, released two decent games and a few "shovelware" games until 2001, closed in 2003.
Pandemic - Acquired in 2007, released three games, closed in 2009.
Origin Systems - Acquired in 1992, released their last game in 1999 and were closed in 2004. - These were the guys responsible for Wing Commander, System Shock, and the Ultima series. And they still got crushed by EA.
DICE Canada - Closed after Digital Illusions CE was acquired by EA in 2006.

Maybe other big publishers have lists that are just as bad, and sure EA still has a bunch of studios still kicking around, but I'd say that's some pretty damning evidence if I ever saw some.

DICE tried to up the ante a bit with Mirror's Edge, and so far that's mostly been relegated to a cult hit even though it generally had pretty decent reviews. So they're chugging along with Battlefield titles with rumors of a sequel being sprung and squashed almost constantly.

Bioware has met probably the largest amount of scorn I've ever seen spewed out at once over Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 3, and for some people Mass Effect 2.

Crytek is living entirely off of the Crysis series now (with Far Cry having been sold off to Ubisoft), and most of the people who were fans of the first are all pissy about the different directions it's taken because of moving to consoles.

Visceral Games has had a studio in Australia close down recently, and the only thing they're actually known for in the last four years is Dead Space (a decent if not particularly scary survival-horror third-person shooter) and Dante's Inferno (the less said about the game, and how EA advertised it, the better).
