So I am never pre-ordering with Amazon again.

Now I'm just letting everyone know this is just personal experience, and before this I never had a problem Purchasing my games off of Amazon. Only given recent events I am never giving them my business video-game wise again. So I pre-ordered a copy of Gears of War: Judgement, having been promised additional characters and weapons for multiplayer. Unfortunately I did not receive any code to redeem with the game case or in an e-mail, so I called customer service and in about a week I had received those codes through e-mail. This I don't mind because I understand that these things happen all the time with pre-orders and are easily rectifiable.

Now very close to the same time this was happening I had also pre-ordered Bioshock: Infinite SPECIFICALLY for the Xbox 360 (Proof in an e-mail that they sent me on first purchase). Let us not forget that it was the limited edition I had ordered which had certain content that is literally impossible to obtain after release. After I had eagerly waited for it to show up on my doorstep it had finally arrived. Being an avid fan of Bioshock you could say that I was giddier than a kid in a candy store. I opened the box (which first of all was squished, like someone stood on the damnable thing) and upon opening I realized that they had sent me the PS3 version. I was pretty furious after talking to them on the phone and hearing how little they could do for me. This being just to send it back and receive the regular copy, no refund for the difference in pay for the limited edition as opposed to the normal one, and all things not tied to redeemable code such as the art book and keychain had to be sent back with it. So Preeetty ridiculous.

Now after aaaaaall that garbage, they sent me this e-mail that for me questions the intelligence of some of the people working at Amazon. Let me quote the meat and potatoes of the e-mail word for word.

" Hello from Amazon.ca.

I'm sorry for any inconvenience caused you.

I understand you've mistakenly purchased PS3 version instead of xbox version for the " Gears of War: Judgment (Bilingual) ".

*Since you've ordered the xbox version of this game, so it is not possible to qualify for preorder bonus offer for this item.

Right now, all of the information we have on this item is on the product description page. Our information is limited to what the Manufacturer supply to us; this information appears on our website.

Therefore, if you still have any questions about the preorder bonus offer, you may contact manufacturer directly."

Ugh......clearly they have never heard of console exclusives.

So anyways, do any of you use Amazon for your games? If so, have you had anything like this happen to you? Let me know what outlet works for you that you can recommend to me and everyone else on this forum..

*On a side note, the line marked with the star is legitimately word for word.

Not something like this by any means, but I did have a problem with them because the price they listed for a game wasn't correct, apparently, which means my order was cancelled and I had to re-order (didn't really lose anything apart from time, and the difference in the price shown and the actual price). That's the worst I got out of them.

I don't use Amazon, I can't trust them compared to shops that specialise in games, like say... Game. Or to a lesser extent HMV. I used to use Amazon more for used games, and it always worked fine because it was sent by real people, much like Ebay but less sketchy. Recently however I stopped, so that I could support actual game shops in real life.

Amazon.com is usually good with shipping and packaging to me, freight fee is a little steep though.

Amazon.co.uk however, I once ordered from them a 3DS XL, there was no tracking whatsoever. After a month of waiting for the item, I sent them a complaint saying the item did not arrive. They immediately set up another of the same order and gave it another week before despatching. I'm still waiting for it.

That's ridiculous. Have you replied to that travesty yet? You could always correct the grammar in red text in your reply.

But yeah, they have to give you the pre-order stuff somehow, or refund you. No discussion really - they're not giving you what you've legitimately bought.
And make sure it's clear to them, in text; that you bought the correct game[footnote]EDIT: Feel free to attach the original order confirmation and any other correspondence[/footnote], that they've fucked up, that you want the limited edition or a partial refund, and that they've confused two different orders in their response. Keep mentioning it, in full, every time you talk to them until they sort it.

I've never myself had significant problems with Amazon, but the best way to get at retailers in general is just not give up. They'll cave sooner or later if you keep bothering them.

I'm in the US and never really had an issue buying a game on Amazon, where i buy most of my games at. Never pre-ordered a game there, though i don't believe in pre-ordering any game since no matter what they say before hand it's impossible to really know if a game will be good or not... it's best to wait for reviews of a game before buying it.

I'm in the US and even have Prime so I get everything in 2-3 days. I have never had any problem with their products or service. Once I had a package that got lost for some reason and the refunded it to me without a fuss. Another time I bought a wrong cable to connect my laptop to my TV and went to return it, and evidently because it's so cheap they actually just said "Keep it, we'll give you your money back anyway."

So yeah overall I've had a great experience using Amazon so far.

Typically, when there's no tracking it's usually being done by the RM. Contacting Amazon again might be a good idea, they'll likly tell you "if it doesn't arrive by so and so we'll resend another" also likely by another courier...And they won't send you another package by RM for some time.

I've used Amazon since like 2001 when I got my first visa debit card, and made probably 200 purchases or more in that time. I have only ever had ONE problem with them, and it wasn't even them. I wanted to buy Iria on DVD, but I put marketplace copy of it on my wishlist for several years not realizing how dumb that is.

When I ordered it from the seller years later they sent me some kind of live-action softcore asian porn. I sent it back, got refunded, and still haven't bothered to get Iria. I don't remember it being that good in the first place.

Thats it. Years of books, ridiculously cheap used cds, games, and even stained glass/other questionably shippable items and zero issue.

For a while I was literally getting so many $10 promo codes that I went like a year without paying full price for anything.

That being said I am pretty much broke, and will remain as such indefinitely so I haven't bought anything in quite some time.

But if they did screw me over like that, I would probably still use them if it wasn't like the first purchase I had made. I HAVE been seriously screwed by other online businesses and had to cancel that same debit card due to it.

Good old Amazon...i used to work for a mail order company and they charge 20% on all transactions through their website. So when you buy from Amazon, you are paying 20% for next to nothing.

I've never had a problem with them but they do nothing for their cut of the profit

I just got it 2 days ago, the second package. The first is lost completely I think. It's an international order btw.
My regular store (ozgameshop) also uses Royal Mail, but this was the first time it happened.

Never had a problem with Amazon.co.uk, order plenty of things from them over the past year or so. Most recently ordered the 3DS XL from them and it actually arrived a day early, which is pretty awesome.

Trust me, I hear stories from my local RM depot. Things like this happens.

Wow, that sucks. I wonder where all those lost mails went?
Although, I thought Amazon.co.uk used Yodel? It was an order from Amazon EU S.a.r.L. I looked it up and there were a lot of negative feedback for this warehouse.

I've used Amazon.ca well over a dozen times for various things (mostly games) and they've only ever exceeded my expectations. Often times I'll be told delivery is 4-7 business days and yet receive the item within 2 days.

I'm not about to let the OP's experience taint my own but if I ever experience something similar I'd boycott the service as well.

Honestly if you got the evidence contact your local consumer rights office (not sure what they are called in your country), anyway it's a governing body that will lay the smack down on any store trying to pull a fast one on their customer.

While I didn't have any problems with Amazon in particular I did come across a couple of online stores that made excuses when wrong parts were sent but never fixed anything, so I reported them and boy were they forthcoming all of a sudden...
Usually these things get hitched on customer support people who have the worst paying job and their only resource to resolving complaints is a poorly written pamphlet, they are usually also under strict orders no complaint gets passed on to higher ranks, so if you want shit done you need to rattle some rat cages.

I personally love Amazon; I've never had a problem with them. It sucks what you had to go through, especially seeing them tell you that you mistakenly purchased an Xbox-exclusive for the PS3 (It shows their customer support really have a disconnect with the distribution part of the company...) I've never ordered any console games from them though...

I'd much rather use Amazon co.uk than ebay, I've personally never had a problem with them although I do use dedicated game stores for online pre-orders.
