So I ran across this post( http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.227144-Motivation#7807690 )and it made me remember that I couldn't finish Mass Effect my reasons for this are exactly as the subject suggests. I just could not finish it which is really weird for me. I remember landing on this one planet and I had to search these space monkeys for for something and just saying to myself out loud "This stupid" and just quiting so I was just wondering I'm I the only one who had a problem with Mass Effect. I searched the Gaming forums and nothing leaped out at me. So have at it.
I know what you mean, Mass Effect 2 is more of the same, its all boring crap, to me Mass effect always struck me as a RPG that was about 80% boring RPG story and 20% average over the shoulder shooter game. Im not some button mashing boomfest moron who cant enjoy a story just because I havent killed something in the last 10 seconds. Im all for a good story but Mass Effect was so focused on story I quickly lost intrest, Metal Gear Solid 4 had the exact same problem.
As much as I pretend I hate to troll... I thought RPGs were meant to be focused on the story... Please, correct me if I'm wrong.

I only stop playing a game before finishing because it's REALLY bad, I'll beat bad games, waste my time and effort on them just because my brain tells me I gotta beat them..

I didn't like Mass Effect either.

Just level up the sniper rifle skill and you rip the game to shreds.

You know there's a problem... When you destroy a Geth Colossus with a pistol. (Both my teammates were dead at this point

I remember that one and I agreed it sucks; however, (is this the correct usage of however with the semicolon or?)you could have skipped it. The game is great, you should try to finish it.
Yes it's correct punctuation but you probably didn't need the semicolon to begin with. A full stop would have done the trick. :) Yet, I do love the semicolon; I feel sorry for it.

Anyway, I agree that the OP should just skip the missions he or she doesn't like and move on through the core story.

I loved the game when I actually got to play the damn thing.
Games with a story are fine, but when I can't play the game for longer than ten minutes without being slapped around by another half-hour of dialogue and cutscenes, I lose interest pretty fast. I'm looking to do something interactive other than slight changes in dialogue, not watch a movie about G.I. Jane and her friends Lumpy Potato and Hot Blue Alien.

Looking at you, MGS 4. Except the hot blue alien part.

Yeah, I didn't really enjoy Mass Effect either. Although it's gotten such possitive feedback that I feel my opinion of the game may have been swayed by other people in the room's inability to quite bitching that it was boring them watching me.

Mass Effect was good. It provided a solid base and platform for what will be remembered as one of the best gaming trilogies of all time.

I loved the games. Both of them. And the endings were epic. I pre-ordered both, and played both pretty much with all my free time till I finished.
Now, on the other hand, was it really necessary to go to the interwebz and tell everyone how you feel? You could have given it discussion value other than everyone lining up to either say they agree with you, or to do the usual interweb stuff.
Like, "Did anyone else dislike a game that everyone else seemed to love?" That would have made for good discussion value instead of a load of potential flame-war material.
I mean, I personally hated Morrowind, although Oblivion is.. okay. Still giving it a chance.
And I didn't like Fallout 3. I can appreciate it's quality and why it's so popular, it just ain't quite my thing.

See? It really is nicer to be constructive in your opinion, because like it or not, a lot of people -loved- that game, and flame wars get messy. And flamey.

Mass Effect is a good solid 6/10 game for me. Hardly so bad that it is too painful to complete but has plenty of issues that might make it too boring to do so.

I enjoyed both ME's but I have to admit I had the same problem with Dragon Age. I did (eventually) bet it but the game felt more like a chore than fun, especially Orzimar.
No game should be a chore-you're playing for fun. If you don't enjoy it, leave it come back in a few days-if still ahting it, it's ust not for you.
