Honestly, I don't think I can name a single game, book or movie I've ever played/read/seen that has an ending worse than that of AC2.

I think the worst part of it was that I couldn't finish the fight with the Pope early so I didn't have to hear their neverending dialogue.
Well for book read "Snow Falling on Cedars" for movie watch "The Core" and for game ending I would have to say Borderlands.
In what way is the Borderlands ending worse?
Does it actually tie anything together in the story? is it satisfying? The creature dies and thats it. Donezo. They did nothing with it. Seriously it just ends. It was so abrupt.

If you can say with a straight face that breaking into the Vatican and having a fistfight with Pope Alexander VI, who in real life was a crazy ************ [http://www.cracked.com/article_15648_five-biggest-badass-popes.html] doesn't sound ten kinds of awesome, then I honestly don't know what to say.

And as for the aliens...

I... I don't know where people keep pulling aliens and spaceships from... especially considering the fact that these things are mentioned approximately NEVER in the game.

Is it so difficult to grasp the idea that the "ones who came before," or whatever they were called were just incredibly technologically advanced?
The idea didn't seem so hard for me. It might also depend on how much of the Truth puzzles the OP did, because they seem to drop some pretty big hints, because I know I was confused by the ending (basically echoing Desmond's well said, "What. The. Fuck?"), but it didn't seem to come that far out of left field to me. I never assumed that the vault was a space ship, I figured it was just crazy hologram technology or whathaveyou.

Well what else would the main characters do if the world wasn't going to end? Besides getting the apple of course. But Desmond is too busy screwing around in the minds of his ancient anscestors to remember what the hell he was doing it for anyways.

The ending was fucked but there was nothing wrong with gameplay.Well except the money thing.

I have about 10 million and i think i could buy most of Venice.

I really liked it. I disagree with you perspective in the extreme. I invite you to consider the error of your ways. In addition, I invite you to reconsider the story and lose your preconceived notions about what a story should be in you eyes, and enjoy a great game. That is all.

PS: fistfight with the pope = win. Now that is all.

I thought the ending was pretty cool. I got to headbutt the pope to death.

It is one of my hopes that I, one day, will amass enough awesome in a single person to do the same. Over and over.

Yeah, it's pretty abrupt and all, I'll give you that. But at least they didn't start throwing a bunch of weird Dan Brown crap at you. They gave you a proper final boss fight, even if said boss is shaped like a giant vagina with tentacles. They gave you a conclusion to the story, with the gate being closed for another 500 years due to you being a slowpoke, you get your money for selling the statue and so on.

That's way more than you can say about the ending of AC2.
It was actually 200 years.

OT: I did all the truth puzzles before going to the final bossfight, and that helped me understand what was going on. I did, however wonder about what crazy conspiracy would next be proven true.

The story was about the only thing I liked about AC2; I thought the gameplay was even worse than AC1 because AC2 has no core gameplay. AC1 at least tried by making the story assassinations seem grandiose; in AC2, the main assassins were just like regular story missions, which mostly were boring. And, AC2 had a 2 hour fucking tutorial for some goddamn reason. All of the "big" missions sucked hard because in any kind of big fight, the AI sucked horribly; the "big" missions just involved you stabbing all the enemies in the back as they were attacking your allies because I swear your enemies and allies couldn't damage each other. The war-like skirmishes looked like some crappy war reenactors were fighting. The tombs were decent to good and that was about it. I also hated Ezio as well and I loved that his whole purpose was just to be a vessel from someone to send a message to someone else.

The Assassin's Creed games should be something like a combination of Hitman and Batman:AA in a bigger world than Batman:AA's world, but the games are nothing like that. At least the first game sorta made you feel like an assassin with the story assassinations, but the 2nd game completely dropped that, and you just feel like some schmuck running about on roofs.

I honestly think the series would benefit greatly from Ubisoft scrapping the scifi elements of the story in favor of making each individual game a contained tale focusing on an assassin from a different time period. It could be a thematic series rather than one linked by plot.
This right here.

The whole "Desmond: man of the future" plotline is a fucking anchor around this series' neck.

So you completed the first one where you open the apple and see a hologram of the world and you still did not think that there was advanced technology present? Also you think that was far fetched when you are viewing all of this through a machine that lets you see your ancestor's memories.

"Whoo ees Des-mond?"
That made the ending fine for me. It just sounded so funny, I forgot all the crazy parts of the ending.

I did kinda like the ending as a whole. The first's was pretty freaky-weird, it's nice to see it's upholding tradition.

This is NOT a game about a renaissance assassin! Not! NOT NOT NOT FOR FUCKS SAKE! It's a science-fiction story about the FUTURE where an evil corporation is trying to control the world and there's a group of people trying to stop them.

Why the fuck can't people comprehend that? IT'S A SCI-FI STORY from the beginning!
This, I cant believe how many people seem to forget that this story is taking places 2 years in the future where you can relieve the memories of your super great ancestors by laying down in a machine in an attempt to find mysterious artifacts scattered throughout the world from centuries of use and that takes liberties filling in blank spots of history with the Assassins vs Templar story. NOT A GAME ABOUT EZIO, I swear, people need to replay the sections of the game that involve Desmond and stop skipping past them like so many of them apparently are

The ending tickled me - I'm always one for sci-fi re-imaginings of religious events, no matter how far-fetched, so I didn't mind. Not sure how the revelations are going to tie into future plot lines though...

It's like the majority of the game was written by a team that got very into some period history books and had some neat ideas for how to weave the AC story in and out...and then for the ending, they handed it off to a 12-year old. I honestly have a hard time believing how god-awful it was o_O Did someone slip me some LSD when I wasn't looking?
Exactly my thoughts.
I loved it before hand, awesome sci-fi historical thriller story, then you go to the Vatican and...
...
"...THE FUCK WAS THAT?"
Was what I asked of my TV screen.

I swear it looked back, confused as I did, and shrugged.
Or my mind was still in total denial about the worst ending I have ever seen in anything ever. Of all time. In the world.

I felt REALLY bad for Ezio. I mean he does all that and still gets left in the dark. :(
