I lost mine at 17. To put a girl of 14 in a position where she's seeking her first sexual encounter can have a few different effects on the reader:

1) The girl is of poor moral character;
2) She's a child who desperately wants to be "adult" and sees sex as a means to that end
quote]

The first two fit the character exactly, and I deliberately wrote her that way. It is consistent characterisation, I was just wondering whether it was believable.

well I started to get the feelings around 7 but I think thats way too young so I'd say the age should be 15. Mind you, depends on the person - I'm 19 and I'm still not sure if I'm ready so I plan to wait just in case.

Teenagers start thinking about sex when they discover hormones. Fourteen is WAY plausible under any circumstances. You'd only be pushing it around eleven or twelve.
This.

Alos I love that people imply on here, that if you have sex once you're instantly gonna get a STD, a baby & then die.

I think people are being too serious on this relationship stuff, now its like if you havent have had a boyfriend/girlfriend by the time your 13 you must be gay.

In Australia apparently the average age one loses their virginity at is 16, if the pub trivia guy is to be believed.

Around 16 I would say they start getting serious thoughts about it. 16-19 I would consider to be the prime age that teens start wanting to have sex, which is completely normal, in my opinion. The thoughts, that is. I think sex itself should wait until your about 18, so your mature and are aware of what your getting in to. But Im starting t osound like a Health teacher in high school, aren't I? Well, theres my opinion, for what it's worth.
I never understood this argument. "Know what they're getting into"? It makes it sound like it's a matter of life and death. One wrong turn in the vagina, and your penis will explode!

Losing your virginity is about as world-altering as eating your first cake. It tastes nice, and you'll probably want to have another one later... But it won't make you go into cardiac arrest. Or, well, the cake-thing might if you eat a lot of it. And I suppose people with weak hearts could potentially be endangered by the physical exercise of the other thing... But then again, the exercise coupled with the nutrition would probably cancel eachother out.

I guess my point is that as long as you eat cake and have sex, you will avoid heart failure.

Well my ex- wife is a real ho. She said she was masterbating at 12 so its possible.Shes kinda a special case.
I really see nothing 'special' about that, nor do I see what part of it makes her a 'ho'. I think I understand why she's an "ex", though.

I have always believed there is a strong sense that it isn't wanting to lose your virginity young, it's having. The tribe mentality thing that scares girls (lets face it only girls think twice about sex) into doing it. Not conforming to the hive retard means being ostracised.

On topic 16-17 I guess but only if they aren't fuck wits.
I have thought twice about having sex and I am a guy. Glad I didn't go through with it too, even if it means I still am a virgin.

As soon as the hormones kick in, simple as.
However if the situation was an 18+ convincing a 14 and a half year old girl into sex then i would be inclined to say I agree with your classmates.

If penis works, and recipient is willing...I see no problem...this is assuming we're talking about young teenagers of a similiar age.
they are willing, but sometimes they have little conflicts like a boyfriend or a husband and a family... /heavy heavy sigh... obviously im alittle frustrated right now.
Boy, leave them married women alone. No good can come of it.

Yeah, there are always the mentally strange people that are just born horny...Quagmire.

But I plan on abstinence. Fifteen minutes of fun is not worth a lifetime of syphilis.
I'm going to laugh when your wife gives you syphilis.
I'm going to laugh when you realize you can't support a baby since your 14 years old.
I'm currently laughing at you for failing. I am 18, and my girlfriend is on birth control.

As long as it's consistent with the girl's personality (i.e. either curious, wanting to be grown up or succumbing to peer pressure), 14 is just fine. I don't think girls are nearly as keen on sex as guys seem to think they are, though. I didn't notice any real interest in the subject among my friends until we were about 16.

I personally lost my virginity at 19, and I didn't feel any need to rush it. But then, that's consistent with my personality, too. :p

Wow, really? Some of you lost it at 7? I'm almost 16 and I'm still a virgin. Losing it any earlier is completely screwed up and disgusting, especially for the under-10's. That's just fucked up, right there.
