So I had a nice WTF moment today.

So let me set the scene... I was sitting at work texting an old friend from high school, having just your normal everyday conversation, hows life & all that stuff, when suddenly this is the text she sends me.

"It's time for a change I need to be with a good man, if you want a chance with me then I need to know if you'll treat me right".........

Uh ok... You're talking to me right?

Blew my mind, I'm still not sure exactly what led up to this. I don't think I've ever had anyone ask me out like this. We were talking about meeting somewhere to catch up, it's been years since I last saw her, but no mention of dating ever came up. WTF?

I'm still stupified. Anyway anyone else have any odd stuff like this happen? Or questions, comments, condemnations or condolences.

That's pretty damn odd, I never get that sort of texts. I get odd texts, but they're usually about running away from home to start a bakery or join the circus, that's just a bit mad. My wild sense of watching other people's shenanigans unfold says go for it! Though I'd probably just panic, go to the pub and forget to text back.

My biggest WTF moment for a while was earlier today. I was sat talking to my Dad, when he starts staring at someone out of the window. A guy just casually squatting down on the pavement spraying lighter fluid and setting it on fire. About 10 minutes he was there. I really hope he'd found an ant's nest where the pavement meets the wall, because that's the only explanation I can think of.

Wow, that is bizarre. You don't get something like that everyday. I doubt she's joking with you, but to be sure, I'd reassure her that you're a good friend or something along those lines, and ask her for a bit of explanation. Don't sound too serious, or it might be off-putting, especially if she's pulling your leg. Don't take too long to reply.

I mean, if you do like the idea of dating her, then you are a lucky bloke!

I once got a similar e-mail from a girl I'd known years before. Setting the "As the Stomach Churns" Soap Opera story aside she was unhappy with her life (and HUSBAND?!?) and was looking for "a change".[footnote]No I didn't go there. Geez...[/footnote]

That was a personal experience but I've known many others who've had stuff like this happen to them.

Most people reach a point in their lives where they just lay the cards on the table because they're tired of playing games. One of the best things about growing up is the pragmatic attitude that arises when your high school/college years are behind you and you realize that it's time to stop acting like a teenager or college sophomore and get serious.

Dunno if this helps but it IS a common reaction people go through at one point or another when they're just fed up with the bullshit.

I don't get any WTF moments in life, it appears I didn't choose the Wild Wasteland perk when creating my character.

I don't know if she was trolling, joking, mixing numbers or under the influence of whatever. Or maybe just really, really desperate. No reflection on you, of course, I just figure texting someone with that line after (how long?) sounds a little desperate.

I have a lot of WTF moments and if anyone would like to take up that mantel for me that would be awesome.

The most recent one was a friend and I went to the nearest gas station to grab some beer, but they were briefly closed for a shift change and I assume to count the registers. It was around 10pm when this happened, and in an area where a friend of ours lives so it's not a native area of mine. We were outside waiting, along with a few other people we don't know, when our friend's sister came and chatted with us. Then this drunk guy wanders over to us and asks us what's going on, and after we told him we went back to talking. He never went away and kept saying the weirdest shit, one of which I think he said 'let's all get naked', and at one point poked my friend in the arm with his finger.

Ten more awkward minutes later, and WTF glances with each other, we got our stuff and got the hell out of there before he could bother us some more.

Another time this guy I was talking to saw my leather bracelet and asked me if I was into bondage. I quickly said 'no' and excused myself to use the bathroom, i.e. make an excuse to get away from the weird guy.

Well today I was meaning to text "Show me your tits *****" to a group chat with some buddies. It's an inside joke of ours from a picture we found over the internet (too long to explain), and I accidentally sent it to my cousin instead and I didn't realize until I got a reply back of her freaking the fuck out. Luckily I was able to explain the situation to her before she went and told the whole family. Extremely embarassing.

So I'm sure she had a WTF moment more than I did hah

I had a female friend from high school, we'd gone on a couple of dates in our senior year but she was staying waaay away from commitment to anything at that time so nothing really serious, but we managed to keep ahold of each other's phone numbers over the years. A few years ago I called her up to inform her that a mutual old and dear friend of ours had passed away, and as soon as she answered the phone she was going on and on about how great it was to hear from me. She completely blew off the fact that a mutual friend had died, and repeatedly pointed out to me that she was single again, and would be back in Colorado soon, and we should get together.

tldr; called up an old friend to tell her of a mutual friend's death, she used the occasion to hit on me.
Serious WTF

I know this doesn't have any relevance but I wanted to quote yo and say your avatar is awesome

Nope, no real WTF moments so far today in my life...I had something stupid happen though, had to write a reflection paper for school discussing what I learned during an assignment and how I interacted with others and how I felt... blah blah, a typical reflection paper from HS and University. Thing is my prof wanted it to be a formal APA style paper which doesn't allow first person writing.

I had to write a personal reflection paper... in formal 3rd person, the things makes me sound like a pretentious douchebag

Hmm, even if she is serious, you haven't see her in a while and this whole I needed to be treated right is really kind of obnoxious, I mean really, who looks for a relationship like a employer looking for workers, laying out stupid shit like treat you right, are you looking for love or looking for " a man", because I'd say you should just leave her be or tell her that if she speaks like that she should probably look closely at herself and judge two things: Does she deserve to be treated "right", and what has been her judgement of this up till now, because if she is looking for mr right sounds like she has been looking in the rejects bin, also a text? NAH, make it personal or not at all, I can just feel the seriousness in your TYPED WORD.

Two things that have happened to me

1. A girl I had previously dated (I stopped dating her after she called me 'daddy' while being intimate. It weirded me the hell out) texted me a month after the fact to tell me that while we were dating she went through my cell phone to see if I was seeing other people on the side. She then informed me that she wanted to 'pay me back' for holding onto a dress she left at my place. Then she sent me a picture of herself naked with a dildo in her mouth.

2. I was on OKCupid (yeah, yeah, whatever). A girl sent me a message simply saying 'Sup?' It was tuesday at like, 9:30 PM, so I responded "Oh nothing really, just sitting around and whatnot. How about you?" Her response "You sound boring. That gave me nothing to work with. How big is your cock?" Whoa! That escalated quickly! I responded saying I have never measured and that I wasn't terribly comfortable sending a picture of my penis to someone I had literally no idea who she was. She asked me what I needed to know for me to send her a picture. I thought about it and realized I didn't have any specific criteria for that situation and said that I didn't think I was going to. Then she got mean, called me an idiot, and stopped responding. It was a bizarre role reversal. Everything I see online about OKCupid is dudes asking girls for nudes and getting pissed and resorting to name calling when they don't oblige.

One time I was chatting with a friend on Yahoo. We were just having a normal conversation when out of the blue she says "So, I've been wondering for awhile if I should say anything, but... I like you, and I was wondering if you liked me back?"

I start panicking and getting all sweaty because I'm honestly not sure how to respond but then it keeps going and I realize that her account was hijacked by a spam bot because it keeps going and starts saying "well if you like me back click for nude pics" and links to really obvious scam sites.

So I email her letting her know she should probably change her password and run a scan but for a moment there it looked like she was still the one talking and I'd never felt more awkward in my life. (and kind of disappointed)

I'd say if you actually are interested, go for it, push the surprised thoughts aside.

I wish I had a nice girl from my past text me something similar.

I've got that one beat.

In college... I was taking out the trash...

when I saw a hobo digging through it. Nothing out of the ordinary...

until he fished out a used tampon...

clearly knew what it was...

and he ate it.

*shivers*
Happened a few years ago, still weirds me out.
