I generally find that waiting until a little closer than 5 months from a game's release date enables me to develop a more balanced and nuanced opinion of its' merits. This also enables me to decide whether or not to pre-order said game, or, heaven forbid, wait a couple of weeks until copies are freely available and reviews are up. Your apparent need for instant gratification seems oddly reminiscent of the "idiot" xbox knuckledraggers and their obsession with COD etc. Sometimes it pays to take a deep breath venting such execrable steam. I know that you are upset, largely, as you have admitted, due to a knee-jerk reaction, but thinking an argument through before posting kinda lessens the need for such retractions.

PS. I am in no position to argue about Origin etc, as I have never used it. I went for the "cheap" option of the xbox, although the hair on my palms renders gripping the controller problematic.

@ OP, if your feeling brave, go check the spoilers for me3 online and see what the future holds for the game, one way or another your mind will be made up

A forumite here mentioned it and couldn't resist doing a search and having a peak...

No spoilers of course, but i'll just say i didn't like what I read and those things ain't gonna change in the final version.

I cancelled my pre-order too.

It's clear that they're shoving customers around on this one because they can. And I LOVE the Mass Effect series.
By shoving around you mean giving more options?

Riiiiiiiiight.
Forcing PC players to play it on Origin is not exactly what I call "giving more options."
I was actually talking about the important things, i.e gameplay.

But of course, feel free to whinge about a nonexistent problem. While you do that, I'll go enjoy my game.

Origin is nowhere near being the evil beast uninformed people claim it to be, and is quite easily negated in any case.

When you blame Call of Duty for a games problems, I immediately stop taking you seriously.

CoD does not have that much of an effect on the industry, no matter what you believe. Quit trying to blame this game's problems on it.

THEN FINALLY, and this is the mac daddy issue I'm having with ME3, It's owned by EA, so it has online passes and you are required to sign up for EA Origins in order to play the game. If you don't know the EA origins scandal by now, signing up for an account with them is basically giving EA permission to put spyware on your computer, so that they can watch your online activity whenever you're online, and they can go snooping thorough your hard drive whenever they want to. I know this last part isn't bioware's fault, but it's still a gargantuan issue, and a huge arguing point for why I won't be picking up Mass Effect 3.

Bioware, I love you, I loved mass effect 1 and mass effect 2, but there's simply too much wrong with ME3 for me to go in with high hopes and starry eyes. I don't need your game to live a perfectly normal human life, so it's not worth ruining one of my favorite franchises over, and it's MOST CERTAINLY not worth getting spyware on my computer for.

Anyway, /rant I guess. I'm just sad to see how far downhill ME3 is going. What do you guys think of all the press that ME3 is getting recently? Do you like it? Are you just as angry and skeptical as me? Do you think that I'm just whining too much? Have you heard any good news about ME3 that I haven't?
Quickly:

Those pre-order bonuses are available on all platforms.

It doesn't need Origin yet. Also, play xbox version.

EULA for Origin has changed, it's now no worse than Steam as far as Spyware goes.

ME2 was EA, and you seemed to like that.

Also, if you've got a pre-order, you're buying new, so get over the online passes, they don't matter unless you're buying pre-owned.

So yeah. The second half of your problems are a combination of nonsense or misinformed.

Ok time to point out your a idiot
1: MP will not affect single player at all its all just a little fun once the storys done and some coop missions with friends, stop crying about it and I think its fun because you can also play as the other races in the universe.
2: Yes being owned by EA will probly need a online come BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT if you HAD your pre order copy you wouldn't need to worry about it because you get one free with a new copy.
3: your complaining about no N7 assault rifle? don't you guy normally trow a sh** fit when that DO have good pre order items?
4:There trying something new with modes....WHO FREAKING CARES!

There 4 ways your being a baby about this!

Issue four, I have no opinion as I'm one of those console gamers that they're dumbing the game down for, HEEEEEEEEEERP DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERP, I IZ SIMPLE. -_-
I know what you mean! All hail the glorious console gaming master race!

Which end does the mouse go in the Xbox again?
You gotta weld it to the Hard Drive, I think.
it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts

OT: I still haven't gotten around to playing ME2, so I'm not worrying myself about it right now.

when did that get confirmed? TOR is also owned by EA but doesn't require Origin at all.

The Old Republic does require origin.

Will I require an Origin account in addition to a SWTOR account?
Yes, you will require an active Origin account in addition to a Star Wars: The Old Republic account. You can create a new Origin account by going to the Origin Account Registration page, entering your email address in the appropriate space and clicking ?Start my EA Profile.? This will take you to a screen where you can create your EA Master ID and set your password. You can also start a new Origin account by logging in with either your Facebook or PlayStation Network accounts, or by downloading and running the Origin client for the first time.

Also putting link for confirmation.

Really do feel bad for Bioware. They want to make good games that retain that "old school" RPG element, but EA is bat-squeak crazy.

Hey EA! I won't be buying ME3! Why? Skyrim!

What's really lame about ME3 is the apparent linear storyline and that there don't appear to be any consequences for imported decisions.
The storyline drops any pretenses of moral greyness in its factions and characters. Everyone becomes one dimensional. If a character is unfriendly or otherwise irritable then they are a evil. It's boring.

There are a handful of neat ideas in ME3, but I think the bad far outweighs the good.
How did you get the game again? I assume you gave it a play through to reach this sweeping conclusion... anything else would be stupid assumptions right? Did you pirate it? Beta? Hmmm?

The modes irk me, some are just stupid as hell, but if someone enjoys them ill hold my tongue and not complain. They do seem to be very... soft... though, the game is what it is and bioware seem to want to appeal to everyone. Try and please EVERYONE and you tend to please no one.

I feel like I may have misunderstood what you were arguing. You are perfectly within your right to not let Origin look at itself (best wording ever) by not using it. My point is that Origin isn't any more intrusive than Steam is. Your point is that you still don't like that. These are not mutually exclusive :p So I apologize for the tinfoil hat comment, as it appears you are not one of 'them'.
That's what we have mouth-uh, fingers for, to clear up stuff when it needs clearing up ;)

But yeah I simply don't like it. I mean I do have a problem with MP and game modes being brought into ME3 at the end of the trilogy (many people forget that detail when they call me out on it - if they had been there from day 1, I wouldn't have minded!), but it's the Origin details that will eventually make me decide for or against getting ME3. Then again, since I really want to get my Shep's story done...I'll see, I'll see.

Ok, I can understand some of the points, but some are just being a bit whiney. The entire second paragraph can be summarised as "There are going to be people I don't like playing the game!". God forbid Bioware want to get a little more cash in so they can make some more brilliant games. This may shock you, you might want to sit down for this, the vast majority of people playing Call of Duty games are normal, polite, fairly intelligent people.

Or maybe you'd just prefer nothing had changed all the way through the series. Not try and expand and try new things with their IP. I'm sure that'd have gone well for them.

I don't need more buggy bloatware DRM on my system so that EA can cut out the middleman.
You obviously missed the part where you don't need it.

Yes, EA say you do, but there was reports a week after the BF3 release that people had disabled Origin and were playing MP fine without it on their system at all.

But of course, go ahead and keep sprouting the rhetoric. People did the same when Steam launched, hell I was one of them. I knew when to admit I was wrong though.
