Yeah, I've owned it since last year, but I never really felt the urge to beat it until now. I have to say, it got better as time went on, and now that I understand the game much better, I'll be more prepared for my next playthrough.

I have two questions. One is fairly simple: I'm probably going to buy them anyways, but are Awakening and Witch Hunt worth it? Would any of the other expansion DLC (Leliana's Song/Darkspawn Chronicles) be worth it?

Now, for the more important question... one involving the end of the game, so I'll spoiler it.

What the HELL is up with that pop-punk/screamo end theme???? o_O I mean, it wasn't bad, but it felt kind of out of place...

Joking aside, the ending was good, though not as exciting as everyone told me it would be. Gonna play it a bit differently next time.

Noted, thanks for the heads up. I've yet to decide whether to get 2, but hey, at least I got another positive note for Awakenings.

NONE OF IT.
I have to disagree. My game came with The Stone Prisoner, and although I would only pay for it if I had 10$ to blow, I'd say it's a good addition. Shale is like the HK-47 of Dragon Age. Not to mention the Helm of Honnleath that I wore until the end of the game.

Also, Soldier's Peak's chest is freakin' useful.

Both Awakening and Witch Hunt are worth it. Witch Hunt is somewhat short maybe, but I really liked Morrigan so I still thought it was worth it.

Awakening is worth it, I haven't checked out the other DLC though. As for the credits theme, at least it's better than what you'll hear when you beat Dragon Age II.

Okay, but Shale is $15 without that code.

And the peak is only useful for the chest. The actual mission of that place is an insulting half-hour of gameplay. All of the other DLCs add good items, but just are short, and generally unsatisfying from a plot standpoint.

15? I thought it was 10 o_O I'd never pay 15 for it. And I actually didn't mind the Soldier's Peak quest, though I wish something came from that dude's research.

Awakening was awesome and very, very much worth it. Witch Hunt was... well, in my opinion, awful. I won't spoil anything, but honestly it doesn't answer any questions you may have about Morrigan. None. If you have money to spare it's got some good moments, but don't set high expectations for it.

None of the other DLC really comes to mind as being necessary or particularly awesome, except for Shale... Shale was cool.

I'd say go for it, just to say you beat it. The ending is actually pretty fun, even if the final boss is just all "RAWR IMMA DRAGON!"

I think you should get awakening 100% it's a really good bonus for after you complete the normal game, the DLC I used when playing were the shale add (i got it free anyway, but it is a decent character to have, and it is quite funny, not sure if i would pay $15 though)

The red-heads story (can't be bothered to find her name, lillianas song or something lol) that was boring, only get that if you enjoy finding out about peoples past, as all it does is tell you about her past

Wardens keep... that is quite good, it adds a big castle thingy that you own, and a decent quest to actually claim it, along with some good armour+merchants.. and a magic little chest that upgrades weapons to your current skill level, so put a normal iron dagger in, it turns to a dragonbane dagger or whatever, the same goes for uniqe armours and weps etc, saves a lot of gold :) also the merchant there has a lot of auguments for your weapons, i would say this should be the dlc you buy if you had to pick one. oh and you get a pretty cool new specialisation class with it too :)

all depends on if you want a new character and an ok mission to get it, or a way to upgrade items plus some good merchants and a SLIGHTLY better mission than the shale one to claim the keep

I do not know about Awakening. Never played it.

If you really like the game then Witch Hunt might be worth it. But only just.

Stone Prisoner is okay. But I got it for free, so I don't know if it's worth the price.

The rest is all complete arse. I'll repeat that just to be clear. Leliana's Song, Darkspawn Chronicles, Return to Ostagar, Warden's Keep and Golems of Thingamajig are all complete arse. If you can score them for free then fine, go ahead, they're worth downloading (well, except for Golems of Thingamajig which was extra arse). But for the love of God, do not pay money for them.

For the price of what you are looking for, you might check into the Ultimate Edition, which comes with everything, including Awakenings. Having played them all, I wouldn't buy any alone excepting maybe Awakenings. I only played these because of the Ultimate Edition.

Here's my breakdown:

Awakenings - a large amount of story, some interesting companions and quests, and cool new abilities. Though despite the amount of Alistair you see in all the trailers, he isn't in it but for about a minute and a half. There was a bit of deception on Bioware's part featuring Alistair so heavily in the promos. I suppose it doesn't matter all that much, since Anders is practically an Alistair clone, only with a mage background. Ogrhen is in it though as a playable, and if you like him, you'll enjoy his part in Awakenings.

Witch Hunt - though the companions you get are amusing, it's relatively short, and as others have said, really does nothing for Morrigan's story except possibly set up an expansion for DA2 - I also think this is why Flemeth was really in DA2, since she did nothing really to move the plot forward.

Stone Prisoner - This is really only worth it if you are going to play the game with Shale. Otherwise, the quest to get Shale is not all that long. But if you were thinking of playing the game through again with a different tank character, then this might be a good one.

Golems - this is an interesting story about a deep roads expedition, and if you complete it after awakenings, you can import a save from it into DA2. But it isn't essential, and I wouldn't have bought it on it's own.

Leliana's Song - Another short one, and really only for those who love Leliana. It was alright, but to be honest, her in-game quest shed more light on this event than I needed a DLC for.

Return to Ostagar - If you love the Alistair character, then you might want to get this. It gives some closure to the battle, and had some nice bits with him remembering King Cailan. But it is very short, and I didn't pay for it when it was available to download, even though I did like the Alistair character.

Darkspawn - This was pretty stupid to be honest. If you want to play the final battle as the Darkspawn, and kill all the characters from the game, then you'll enjoy it. But it didn't have a story and wasn't particularly interesting.

Warden's Keep - Short and really only worth it if you want a storage chest badly enough.

The Feast Day stuff - this isn't really a story based thing, but one nice thing about it, is if you are replaying the game, you don't have to worry about hunting down enough gifts to make your companions like you, as this DLC gives you infinite numbers of nice and bad gifts to give people. So if you want to see what Leliana is like if she hates you, or if you want to say whatever you want to Sten, without fear of his being too pissed off, this pack is useful.

Again, all this stuff comes with the Ultimate Edition, and depending on how much they are charging for Awakenings, you might consider it.

Awakening, Leliana's Song, and Chronicles are worth it

Witch hunt is good, but very short, get it only if you want to know what happens to Morrigan, Otherwise, just fill in the gap yourself.

Return to Ostagar and Wardens keep are also good, but only get them if you want some good stuff (Warden Commander Armour, Duncan's Sword and Dagger, Mariks armour and weapons etc)

Hope this helps =D

Awakening - It's a fun experience and has information relating to how DA:O's Blight was actually started. It's definitely worth a play. Not sure if it is critical to understanding DA2's story.

The Golems of Agmaraak - It's not very long but a fun little side story with a slight twist at the end.

Leilana's Song - Good backstory on Leilana, not very long again.

Darkspawn Chronicles - It's fun if you want to try the end game fight from the Darkspawn's prespectitive but don't expect much of a story.

Witch Hunt - OMGWTFBBQ, GET IT, GET IT, GET IT!!! Whether or not you did some lovin, babymaking or friendshipping with Morrigan, this DLC is worth getting it drops hints of what DA3 is going to be like and if you were as immersed as I was whilst playing it may blow your mind. Also it's worth seeing your Warden do a 'Oh Shit...' face whilst talking to a frightened Morrigan.

I have to say I only just recently finished Origins, Awakening and all its respective DLC (except for the feastday stuff) before DA2 came out.

Awakening gives you background on Dragon Age 2, but it's really only background on one of your party members. Since you can't transfer a character from Awakening to DA 2, it's not critical. Also, unless something changes in the last part of DA 2 or something happens in Dragon Age 3, the main point of Awakening has nothing to do with anything. Its cannon has also been set. There's only one right way to play it if you want to keep the story intact.

Stone Prisoner is worth it. You get Shale--although, in DA 2 save transfer, it says that Shale was discovered but I have yet to see anything in the game that is related to Shale.

Golems of Amgarrak ties in to the ending credits of Dragon Age Origins. It deals with the dwarves trying to recreate the golems that read about in the epilogue. I enjoy it, and supposedly the enemy at the end will make an appearance in DA 2, though I have yet to see it.

Return to Ostergar is worth it. You get some good weapons out of it at the very least, and it transfers to DA 2. Also offers some closure.

Warden's Keep is worth it if only for the fact that you get a chest to store unlimited items in. Good weapons and equipment too, plus it transfers over to DA 2 and you actually SEE the results of the transfer.

Leliana's Song I own, but haven't played yet (trying to get Blight Queller trophy, so I can't have any DLC installed. Way to go BioWare). However, I love Leliana, so I'm saying it's worth it.

Darkspawn Chronicles. Well, I don't like playing as a bad guy, so I pass on that one.

EDIT: I knew I forgot one. Witch Hunt. This is really based on your personal tastes. If you like combat and think it's important to the game, then don't get it. If you enjoy story above all or you must know what happened to Morrigan, then get it. Be warned: it is the same length (meaning it's very short) as the other DLCs, but there's no real challenging combat in it, so it feels even shorter. And unless something happens at the end of DA 2, you're going to be left wondering about Morrigan and the child STILL.

Awakenings should be your number 1 purchase. It is a great DLC package (though no romance, i know some people were upset about that). It helps illuminate 1.5 characters of DA2 as well (you have to play it to understand).

Stone Prisoner gets you Shale, a really great companion. If you want a tank (or ranged/melee/lots of stun dps) Shale is a lot of fun. She has so much character and is as completely flushed out as any of the standard characters.

Darkspawn Chronicles was a blast for me. Smashing Alistairs wussy boy's face with a half ton ogre was awfully cathartic, especially after my RL significant other almost left me for him. There's no story, it's just cathartic joy and killing all your friends/rivals with some new abilities and characters. There's a bit of explanation of how the Darkspawn leadership structure works as well, if you really wanted to know.

If you love Leliana like I did (do), Leliana's song is worth it. It's basically an explanation of her life of crime turned Chantry sister. If she was so-so for you definitely not worth it.

If you're a big Alistair fan (read a girl) Return to Ostagar is pretty cool, apparently. You really should read your History of Fereldan and Cailan codexes to fully appreciate this.

Witch Hunt is up to you. I'm assuming that DA 3 will explain it more, but at the end of it we're left with more questions than answers about Morrigan (and your DA:O character if you play it a certain way). There are new companions but the game is very short, they don't really matter. Having beat DA2 I can say Witch Hunt partially illuminates a single line of dialogue from the game. So don't bother buying it for that. I suppose if you had feeling for that stone-cold ***** it would be worth it to spend a few more precious moment with her.
