There have been a few of works that have done a number on me. The ending to Dragonheart is one of them. Yes, it's rather corny with the insanely overdramatic narration that immediately follows, but dammit, I loved that Sean Connery Dragon!
In other news, the entirety of Cowboy Bebop. I don't think there has been a better fusion of music and imagery outside of Star Wars or Lord of the Rings. The world, for how vague it is, is simultaneously one of the most well realized and established settings I've ever seen. The themes of facing your past, and moving on so you can truly live are major elements in why I adore the show. Hell, they even gave Ed some pathos with her last episode. You move on with life, and never stop to look back.
The soundtrack is just sublime, as well, and some of the tunes are so remorseful and yet hopeful.
See you space Cowboy.
Next up, Blackadder Goes Forth. For those of you who don't know, or haven't watched the series, Blackadder happens to be my Avatar. The fourth series I find had the best writing and episodes of the whole show. It managed to blend the goofiness of the first two series with the more biting humor of the third, and then cast them onto the most human and arguably most decent Edmund the series had. He wasn't a psychotic mastermind like he was in The Third, but just a guy who desperately wanted to get away from the War. And then the final episode.... I rarely cry during television series, but this is one of those times.
The next time is from Deep Space Nine. The Visitor. Best. Star Trek. Episode. Ever.
First off, go watch this episode right fucking now. I'll wait. For those of you who are impatient, there's this.
It's absolutely heart wrenching from start to finish.
I've got more, but right now I'm kinda swirling in nostalgia tears...
