i read something on "Cracked" about how Anonymous actually issued death threats to an 11 year-old girl just because she called people on 4chan losers for requesting she strip.
after reading this, i honestly will not support ANYTHING Anonymous does and i hope they all get arrested, tried, and convicted of child abuse and attempted murder.
if it were up to me, i would string them up by their ankles and cut off their hands so they could be left to bleed out. and i mean ALL of them. Anonymous is not a silent defender, they are a obviously a group of bullies who occasionally throw temper tantrums when something dare threatens their freedom to post child pornography...
it's the sixth one down.

You mean you didn't know this? Anonymous has never been some kind of philanthropic organization of freedom fighters, their credo has been pretty straightforward on this account. As much as anything they are out to cause chaos. A good part of the reason why they defend freedoms are because those are the freedoms that allow them to do the things that they are doing. They pretty much feel they have the right to be a giant group of trolls, and are pretty honest about admitting it.
Remember, after that big stink about the kid who was allegedly carried away on a balloon, and it turned out to be a hoax, they sent him a free pizza for being a great troll.
I'll also be blunt about something else, the hordes of /B/ and Anonymous are not the same thing. The Insurgency and Anonymous are not the same thing. These things can overlap, but have distinct identities. 4chan is merely one places where members of Anonymous have been known to hang out, and where the name presumably comes from.
That's the tao of these groups (so to speak) on one hand they are fighting for free speech issues, on another hand they are trolling kids like Jessie Slaughter (who admittedly was asking for it going by her site and the way she presented herself online).
In the things I've been critical of Anonymous for, like defending Wikileaks, a big part of it is largely that by doing this they were actually shooting themselves in the foot. The groups that benefitted from these actions (free speech angle aside) mostly being oppressive goverments of exactly the type that seek to create the enviroment that Anonymous seeks to prevent for it's own interests. Ironically being one of those cases where reality clearly isn't straightforward as your pretty much acting against free information to protect the existance of free information.
These are my thoughts on the subject.
While not perfect, I recommend actually looking up Anonymous on "Encyclopedia Dramatica", that pretty much gets down to the nature of the organization.
I think the problem is that Anonymous has gotten a Robin Hood reputation it was never really seeking out. What's more Anonymous hardly cares about public approval.
