People have tried mugging me 4 times...
all 4 times i've been able to fight them off.

a woman tried mugging my uncle...and then there was uproar in the middle-eastern/wog community (my uncle is one of them...) when he fought back because "you cant strike a woman" - BUT - I say I don't care what you are, you attack me, I'm going to attack back.

Sir i regret to inform you that your story sounds like a load of shit. Why would they throw you off a bridge to kill you when they could hide the evidence (you) in a better place. Jumping that far and landing would likely injure you way to much to walk four miles in your socks.

EDIT: also you seem to have reported the incident to the escapist rather than say the police and your main aim was to show what a (supposed) wretched world we live in. Such an incredibly bad lie.

EDIT 3: Anyone who believes his story is stupid and gullible.

Sorry I only read this AFTER i made my post,
but if you know how to roll - or if you're lucky, it is possible to only walk away with mere muscle bruising or such.
4 miles isnt that far, and roughly 70% of assaults (at least in australia) are never reported, plus, he could have simply reported it the day after, or before he posted this :p

Hmm my dad got caught in his lines while climbing and fell further when his brother cut him free (he would have hanged himself otherwise) probably about 35 - 40 ft and he came away with a few scrapes. I think in some cases it's how you fall and how you land. My dad also ran home after being hit by a minivan while out jogging and turned up looking like night of the living dead scaring my mum half to death. I'm not saying the OP is telling the truth as I don't know the guy. But the human body can be pretty wierd.

After all that my Dad died of cancer :| guess it was the only thing that could take him down, physics certainly wasn't working.

Fatal human velocity ranges between 15 and 38mph, with some rare exceptions that are nigh on miraculous. You fell about 19ft (assuming the 30ft fall onto 11ft train is right), so 5.7912m. We can calculate from that: when you hit the train you were travelling 23.8322mph, give or take depending of the accuracy of your estimated fall.

So I'll suspend my belief. Especially given the assertion the train was moving, and you subdued the "biggest one". I don't suppose to suggest that this is all impossible, just absurdly unlikely.

Everyone is hating on OP for his colourful story, but I assumed he was either:
A) Making a joke
or
B) Making a serious story more interesting with obvious exaggeration.

He could always be delusional, but hey I assumed it was done intentionally in jest.

If 70% of assaults are never reported then how do we know about them? Also he claims to have fought off 5 guys and im sorry but no one kills when they have what they want as no one takes such a thing lightly. this man is a liar and he sounds as though he came here first since if not he would still be being questioned as their is a group of attempted murderers on the loose.supposedly. police take that shit seriously. also 30-20 feet is pretty damn high and he landed on a moving train apparently. now im sorry but this is difficult to believe no matter who he is and i doubt he is able to do this stuff.
I'm not saying I believe his story, I'm just not gonna call bullshit yet.
It's possible, and that's about enough for me.
We know about all the assaults, because the victims and bodies (you dont have to be dead to be a victim) are in the news, or they're on youtube, or...on the escapist.
Fighting off 5 is fucking difficult, not impossible. Second last day of school last year I was jumped by 3 guys and I ran off with nothing but a bloody nose.
20-30 feet, like I said, possible, I'm not saying this man is likely of it, but i dont know him, how can I make that claim that he is or isn't?

why was there no news story about this? this is superhero quality stuff! hope you get better soon and that they catch the guys who did this!

OT: I was taking the bus home from downtown at about 10:30pm. I got off and 3 big guys got off and followed me to my next stop where they tried to mug me. Long story short, I have a black-belt in karate and there were paramedics involved but not for me :).

I'd really rather not repeat the experience.

I've been mugged quite a few times (EDIT: I should also say that I live not that far outside of Pittsburgh, which is a large city, so crime is rather plentiful if you're ot careful), and honestly its surprising me cause the people that jump me all know me and what I can do.

No matter whats happened, I've always walked away, and more times then not, I've left broken men behind me. I think the worst mugging I had was four guys, the smallest having to be 185 lbs (I was 155 at the time), tried to jump me. The first one tried to fist fight me, but i wound up broking his arm in three different places. So his friend tried to grab me, while another pulled out a switchblade. I broke the one that was holding me's knees and cracked three ribs. When the one with the knife tried to hit me, I wound up breaking his arm, both legs in the femur and tibia, and cracked his head while he was on the ground. The fourth just stood there and I guess weighed his options, cause he just laid down the knife and walked away.

I ended up coming out of it with a bruised thigh, a small cut on my arm, and sore shoulder.

Successful troll is successful, I believe.
I calls bullshit on the mega-escape. I think what really happened was the OP getting mugged by a couple of fucks and... nothing more. Beat up, shoeless (strange but wtf, could be true), the poor guy decided to get sympathy on the interwebs (best place for it, no doubt) and exaggerated the story to epic levels.

Now the thing is, I really don't mean no disrespect to the guy and his story. Probably cause I don't care much. Anyway, getting mugged still sucks, hope he's fine.

tl;dr - Cool story, bro.

Considering the effects of fight or flight adrenaline, that story is quite believable, but still incredibly bad-ass :D Well done, at least you have your life and your dignity, and sorry about those bastards :(

I live in a high-crime country, you hear of this shit all the time. It is just sick.

I live in Vancouver, and nothing bad ever happens here. Unless we lose hockey. Then burn the world.

That is pretty damn remarkable... to the point that I almost can't believe it.
Personally, I've never been mugged but if I ever am, I'll be sure to smack the person trying it up the face with a heavy object, like me.

I was walking home last night and saw a group of people that approached me. They literally stole my shoes and were about to steal my wallet and throw me off this bridge. I got out of their control and managed to jump off it and land on a train.

How fucked up are the times we live in that random people seriously attempt to kill someone for shoes and a damn wallet?

Has anyone else had an experience being mugged, or attempted mugging? I'm fairly proficient in Krav Maga. But taking on five people at once is quite difficult. I managed to submit the big guy, but some other dude repeatedly punched me in the head until I retreated.

I jumped off a 30 foot bridge, on to a train, so about a 20 foot drop. Jumped off, and walked home 4 miles in my socks. Sorry for the profanity, but I seriously think this is messed up.
Heh, My brother was shot through the heart by a group of men who stole his bus tokens.

As far as I can tell, you lucky, you're actually telling us this shit.

Never happened to me, but if it happened, I have no super powers to support me. Seriously, you're Batman. In your socks.
