Well, you just Krav Maga'd a mugger and jumped off a bridge onto a moving train, so you officially qualify for action hero status.

I was walking home last night and saw a group of people that approached me. They literally stole my shoes and were about to steal my wallet and throw me off this bridge. I got out of their control and managed to jump off it and land on a train.

How fucked up are the times we live in that random people seriously attempt to kill someone for shoes and a damn wallet?

Has anyone else had an experience being mugged, or attempted mugging? I'm fairly proficient in Krav Maga. But taking on five people at once is quite difficult. I managed to submit the big guy, but some other dude repeatedly punched me in the head until I retreated.

I jumped off a 30 foot bridge, on to a train, so about a 20 foot drop. Jumped off, and walked home 4 miles in my socks. Sorry for the profanity, but I seriously think this is messed up.
On the downside, you got mugged.

On the upside, you've just discovered that you have superpowers.

OT: I've never been attacked like that before.

You mean to say you were actually in any condition to walk after hitting a train after a thirty foot drop?

...yes, this is messed up! You took a bunch of blows to the head, jumped off a 30 foot bridge, fell about 20 feet landed on a train and just walked home. I don't care what speed the train was moving, you fell 20 feet! Are you an X-men? All and all:

OT: Well, I've never been mugged or gotten into a real world fight. Though when the day comes...I will probably get my ass kicked after putting up a decent fight. Well, if I'm by myself. If my family or friends are around, in danger as well...I will push some unlucky bastards shit in and tear them a new asshole!
Thanks for the disrespect. I suppose I slowly walked/limped home. My bad. I didn't get hit too many times in the head, I blocked most of it. I still took a few good ones. If you've never been in a real fight, why are you criticising me? I just feel like you're being an asshole by basically calling me a liar, when I came here for support. That's fucked up dude.

If you're ignorant enough not to believe me, just don't entertain my thread, because you're seriously unintentionally offended. But think about it, a twenty foot drop isn't as much as you think. Especially if you're experienced in high jumps.

Thirty from the ground, about 19ish from the train. That eleven feet of acceleration would have made it a lot worse.

I've never been mugged or jumped but my friends have so I'll give you their stories. One night 3 of my friends were just walking around the streets and a group of Lebanese people started closing in on them. One was running with a baseball bat and got to about 3 metres behind one of my friends before they noticed.

Another time (Friday night) we were having at party and at 1 in the morning everyone decided to go for a walk to Maccas, me and two others guys stayed behind. Four guys walked quite away in front of the rest and were circled by a group of 5 guys. They were about to be jumped when the other 5 walked up and the attackers dispersed. After this happened they called us and said they were being followed (1:45 in the morning). We didn't hear anything again until 3!

I'm not one of those people who is quick to disbelief, so i do believe you. But That is some seriously awesome way to escape some people. And yes, people are generally bastards at night/in groups. Stupidity manifests in packs. This is for you:
Not many people could pull that off without breaking something. Kudos on the escape.

I have 2 stories relating to this. Though my own personal experience is a bit useless but I suppose it's something.

I was about 17 and two little kids (This may sound kind of pathetic but at least I'm honest) who were about 13, came up to me with bats (one said he had a knife but I think he was bluffing to sound tough or something) and wanted my mp3 player. I told them to get lost but of course they didn't but luckily my friends house was nearby so I got there as quick as I could. A bit of a useless story but it is messed up how people, especially kids, resort to this kind of behaviour. I mean seriously, trying to forcibly take someones stuff because you want it? What is that about?

Also a friend of mine got held up by a junkie with a dirty needle for money. All he had on him was a bit of change so luckily he didn't lose anything valuable.

Well, I'm anti mugging, having been held up at gun point a block from my house before and having my money taken. On the other hand, as to the story... pics or GTFO

no, i haven't been mugged before. though i have been approached by individuals on 2 seperate occations that vocally expressed intentions to behave in such a manner. in both situations however, upon entering my proximity, they had a sudden mysterious change of heart and left me alone.

Luckily this never happened to me (yet) and I'm glad you came out of it with only your shoes taken.

I'm sorry man, didn't mean to offend you. I never thought it was fake and I wasn't criticizing you or calling you a liar, I was actually saluting you. Your description of the events didn't really explain what state you were in at the time, so you came off as nonchalant. It sounded like you were angrier at the muggers and not the fact you had to jump off a bridge and fall onto a train. You didn't really seem angry at the events after the mugging, you just seemed pissed off about loosing your shoes. Not gonna lie, at that point a lot of people, me included, wouldn't have even bothered to limp home. They would've curled up in a ball for a few hours. I was just trying to have some fun with you because you didn't seem too mad about it.

I'm serious here, I really, REALLY want you to know that what you did that night took some serious courage and how I deeply respect you for not just giving up at that moment of vulnerability. I guess common sense should've told me you weren't in good condition but I didn't want to rain on your "superhero" parade. Read the comments here, about you being Batman, a badass, a superhero! That proves that you did something not a lot of people would've done! So I'm sorry if I offended you, I didn't mean to, and I really hope you're okay and hope those muggers get thrown off a bridge without a train land on.
Thanks a lot man. I suppose I read too much into your statements. Sorry if I looked like a dick. But I'm seriously mindfucked as to how this happened in a community so small. I'm not trying to seem like some Superman asshole, I came here to see if people had some decent commentary on my situation.

Don't worry, after your post, I'm definitely no longer offender. Sorry if I incorrectly blamed you, my friend.

I have not been mugged, but I am terrified of the prospect.
Because for a young, fertile-looking girl like me, it may well not end with them removing just my purse and shoes.

I know to go for the eyes and groin if applicable, can scream really fucking loud, try to look alert and unafraid, but that doesn't mean that its not going to happen.
And yes, I am seriously contemplating going all engie on rapists and carrying around an unusually large wrench, because its the most threatening thing I can think of that I could come up with good reasons for having in my possession randomly.

First off, Not sure if this will be a double post, but whatever. Thanks for the support. I'm sure I was quite close to breaking things. Luckily I'm athletic, and used to do free style running. Definitely helps in the damage department.

Lol that is pretty badass, just be glad you have Batman's extreme luck of having a train go by at the right moment!

OT: Never really been mugged before but some guy randomly picked a fight with me at school, he jumped on my back and started punching me in the back of the head (I'm 6'3" he was about 5'4" hence the jumping on my back), my 4 years of Taekwondo did not go wasted, flipped him off my back and one kick in the side, fight was over. Short lived but it counts, right??

If a group of dudes want your shoes and wallet your best of giving it to them. Unless you know lots of awesome ninja shit.
