I don't really know if this goes here but I'll post it anyway

yesterday I went to trade in two game, both of them were previously baught from thereone a little over a year ago the other was given to me by a friend of my parents one of them was labeled $5.00 the other $18.00 however when i got there they only told me that I was going to get $2.25 becuase their both "old games" then to add further to the insult they have to take out 15% from the money exchange.

so it's gonna be a long time before I ever trade in a game at gamestop ever again

You should have watched Zero Originality - Gamestop is the worst place to buy or trade games around.

I buy games there new, and old games if they still have them on stock.. Most corporations don't have them, and I kind would not want to have to wait for them.

That's how they roll. But couldn't you just have refused to trade in the games once you learned the trade in value?

What games were you trying to trade in by the way?

I've been trying to spread the word on this for a while, they just rip people off, they sold my friend a used PS3 for new price, he had to go back in and demand a new system because it was VERY clearly used. They tried to sell my friend a empty W.O.W. game, he go to the door and wanted the disc, they said you just have to enter a code on a site from the box, which we knew wasn't right, the guy finally looked for the disc and handed it over, but assured us he didn't need it.

The best part is the employees can take out games even if they're BRAND NEW for 4 days, when they're returned they are still sold as new even though they're out of the case, have been used.

Did they force u to do through with the trade? threaten you? or did they lie to you about a lot of stuff?
IF they just have bad priced and someone buys/trades their stuff then it's the buyer who's the stupid one, not them.

Ohhhhh.... I'd love to know how much they were trying to give that guy for that game. Doesn't it go for something like $150 on ebay?

Yeah, that's how they make their money. They screw over the people that give them business. As a result, I never shop there, nor have I EVER traded in a game there. You can find $2.25 in change by rummaging through sofa cushions or looking down while walking on a sidewalk.

Are you really that surprised by this? Think about how big the budget is on an a-list video game - how much of that box price do you think the store is keeping? Used games are where their profit comes from, so you really shouldn't be surprised that they're ensuring that they sell it at as high a markup as possible.

The solution is, of course, not to trade games in. All you get is chump change, and I have regretted trading in every single game I ever have.

If you don't like it, don't trade them.

You had a game that they bought for 5 or 18 dollars a year ago you should be grateful they still take it at all.

GameStop is one of the few game stores we have here. It's there or HMV really and their as bad as each other. Don't trade in very often though and usually shop around for the better price. This being Ireland though, were screwed over on principle.

Huh..I traded in Farcry 2 and got 19euro in store credit, which got me Mirror's Edge. A fine deal, if you ask me. Considering how abysmal FC2 is.

they were going to give the guy 30 bucks and then turn around and sell it for 60 buck. when in all actuality he should have sold it on Ebay for 150 buck. so my friend bought it for 40 and the guy called it a deal.

Just buy stuff online, from the immense amount of money you save you can easily afford first class delivery, usually there the next day unless you order after a certain time. You can trade online too, getting much better prices. In the UK the store gamestation is good for trading in and 2nd hand games so maybe your country has an equiveleant?

Will Game not deliver down south?

Or do you not do online shopping?
