So far I am liking it, I don't plan on buying any DLC's due to the fact the only ones I seem to like are the ones Bethesda make. However, I tried online mode, got my ass handed to me, shot some people. Got some guns and manged to get to level 8. After today, I'm going to give single player a go. However the reason I made this thread is to ask a few questions.
1) What gun should I be using on average?
2) Care to share some pointers?
3) Is hunting a good means of getting additional XP?
Right then past those, I want to ask you to share stories of the online gameplay. Fun moments you had, amazing things you did. Anything you feel the need to share.
1) What gun you should use depends entirely on your preferred gunfighting style. If you prefer running in guns blazing then you should use a pistol or revolver; anything OTHER than the Cattleman is a decent choice. If you prefer to use cover and pick off your enemies one-by-one, then you should use a rifle. Personally, I love the Winchester, but the Evans Repeater has much more power to it. Sniping is an absolute no-brainer, so I won't even bother trying to give you a hint on that one. Alternatively, you could do what I do; soften them up with thrown Dynamite and Fire Bottles, then use whatever gun you like to finish them off.
2) If you're playing in multiplayer against other Human players (i.e. not doing the hideouts) then spam the High-Power Pistol by jamming the fire button as fast as you can. I KNOW it's spamming, and I KNOW I'll get flamed for suggesting it, but frankly, everyone else does it, so why shouldn't you?
Also, if you're outgunned, it's better to stick to cover and wait for your health to regen when you're against AI. When you're outgunned against Humans and they won't stop killing you, you're probably better off jumping to another session. Sometimes it really isn't worth the hassle of having to turn around and defend against some prick who won't leave you alone.
3) No. Hunting is an excruciatingly slow way of getting XP. The quickest, and most popular way, is to do the gang hideouts.
Also. It might be worth your while getting the DLC. They're all very good, especially Undead Nightmare, and there are advantages given to online players with the DLC, such as better weapons.
