...What the hell?

Like, I knew this movie was going to be bad, I was expecting it to be bad... I wanted it to be bad. Beer popcorn and a cheap laugh at yet another terrible VG Movie... but really, what the hell did I just watch?

Why is Chun-Li a skinny white chick? (I know Kristin Kreuk is half Chinese... she doesn't look it.)

Why in the movie does she go from an obviously Chinese girl, to a young white girl, to a white woman?

Why is Charlie a cop and played by an Jason Lee lookalike?

Why is Rose, Bison's daughter?

Why does a Tiger Roar every time Bison hits someone?

Why is Gen so young?

Why does Gen throw fireballs?

Why is Gen a good guy?

Why is Vega a Mexican Rapper?

Why does Balrog never throw a punch, and hits people with objects instead?

Why is there a lesbian dance off?

Just... why?

The movie is disjointed, makes no real sense in and of itself and they needlessly changed what little lore Street Fighter has to begin with... and not for the better.

I have watched Uwe Boll movies better than this... this wasn't just bad, it made no sense as a movie, let alone having anything to do with Street Fighter.

Thank god it was only $1 from Redbox... but it left me feeling like I have just been raped by a midget clown... unsatisfied, confused and about to cry at any moment.

Does his beat go Boom Boom Bap?

Very seriously, why did you watch this movie. You knew it would be bad. I know it's bad and I haven't seen it. It's a movie based around one character in a fighting game made on a pretty tight budget with 2nd and 3rd rate talent.

Nobody should encourage sequels by watching it the first time.

They had a commercial for that on the DVD!

Also... i found something that makes the dance scene make more sense.

As for why did I watch this movie... like I said, I wanted to watch bad movies with the wife. Picked up the Legend of Chun-Li & Gi Joe, both seemed like they were going to be hilarious, but after the Legend of Chun-Li, Gi Joe may seem like the saving Private Ryan of shit movies.

...............

There was a lesbian dance off?

*Leaves for the movies*

But seriously; the least they could do was to get the relations straight. And Vega's Spanish, damnit! Haven't they played the game at all?

[sub]And they should have Dan in it...[/sub]

Not even a good lesbian dance off. I mean, you have to try really, really hard to make movie lesbians seem boring. They succeeded!

I wasn't expecting fidelity to the SF lore, I expected them to retcon damn near everything... but why strip away nationality which makes up such a huge part of the characterizations?

Its like if someone did a movie based off Mario, and instead of being an Italian Plumber from New York, they made him a Mexican Dishwasher from Chicago, who gets sucked down the pipes during an extremely busy night at the restaurant.

Cant even say it was for the sake of political correctness, because they just add a different layer of horrifically offensive stereotypes.

Just really... no reason for it.

Also, Spinning Bird Kick was laaaaaaaaaame.

Good luck with that movie, just don't spend 50 million on it.

Yes that's right, They spent 50 mil on The Legend of Chun-Li, it made 14 mil at the box office and another 4 mil in DVD sales... someone lost a lot of money betting on those horse.

Hehehe. I used to work for Blockbuster and I remember watching this movie the week before it was released and using it as an example for what NOT to watch for my customers.

I'm with you on this. I've always championed the original Street Fighter movie as a classic example of "so bad, it's good". It's a terrible movie, sure, but it's also really entertaining. Stupidly so, sure, but when you're adapting a game about an international fighting tournament involving people who can throw fireballs and use backflip kicks as attacks, you should pretty much abandon all hope of being taken seriously right from the get-go. The actors know it's ridiculous, and so they have fun with it (Especially Raul Julia).

The Legend of Chun-Li, on the other hand, is another kind of movie entirely. It's terrible, too, but it's not evenly remotely fun to watch. I don't know exactly what it is about this movie that makes it so unbearable to me. I think it probably has something to do with everyone involved seeming to think the movie was a legitimate piece of fiction. I mean, honestly. They take it entirely too seriously, and that sucks all the potential fun right out.

I can't remember the name, but I think it's an early 90's Jackie Chan movie. Him and some other guy get into a fight in an arcade and somehow they gain the fighting powers of random characters from SF2. That's about as far as I'll go to see any SF movie.
Yeah it was called city hunter
