For those of you who don't know my harrowing adventure my good friend Iron Codpiece explained here [a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.154951#3767665]in this thread[/a] How I went to the hospital because my body decided it wanted to take a vacation but my brain disagreed.
Well, after a month of intense physical therapy (like 4-6 hours a day) I can get around the house with a walker and a little help. Shortly after Christmas I will be returning to my work as a detective in crimes against property at our sheriff?s department. By then I should be upgraded to 'cane' because only one of my legs is still being stubborn and unresponsive. I am trying to stay positive though in that I always thought canes were kind of cool. Especially ones with swords in them.

I saw one with a goat's head and thought 'that would be bad ass since my name is Thor it'd be like I had goats pulling the chariot of my body." Though my wife was quick to point out that many people think goats are demonic.

So escapists any ideas for a sweet cane I can get? If you had to use a cane what kind would get?

edit: A big challenge for me is that I'm 6'6" so my options are limited. Though my insurance is able to pay a lot of dough for this.

You can get Hercule Poirot's cane in a magazine, mini telescope and everything.

Not sure about the height problem though, someone else will probably solve it.

Make sure you get a top hat and sweet jacket with it! And you simply must get a monocle and pocket watch!

hiya mate, well I do not know of a good place to order a cane from. But when I got one hip joint dislocated the hospital lent me one, and it worked well (if you lenghened it you could get a makeshift tonfa).
So the cane I would choose if I did something stupid again would be a quarterstaff, not a real cane but useful.

Well it's good that you are making progress in getting back on your feet. I definitely say sword cane for the win.

Old fashioned wooden cane. A more modern cane wouldn't be cool, and a fancy one with designs and stuff would come across as trying too hard, with a plain old cane, you know your a badass.

This is barring the possibility of a sword cane.

Get a black one with flames on it. Or a few pieces of steel piping (t-joint for the head). That's what I did when insurance wouldn't cover my cane, post car-wreck. (it was temporary, but I had to get around somehow, y'know?)

I'd say the goat's head cane would be a sweet idea but if you don't like the demonic aspect to the thing, I would stil lsuggest an animal head, if possible. Or, you know, a massive cut zircon. I would be more interested in the wood, personally. If your insurance will pay for it, spring for black oak. That stuff is nice.

Hey, you're back! I haven't been around here much anymore so I haven't heard anything about you since Iron Codpiece's thread, so I'm quite happy to hear you're okay.

First of all, if you don't mind my making light of your condition might I say I find it a fairly amusing coincidence that, contrary to the meme, you do have lupus, and because of it you need a cane like the character the meme is associated with.

Anyway, if it was me I would get a fancy, classy-looking wooden cane. And I don't see the problem with having a demonic-related animal for the head of your cane. That's all the better; goats are cool.

Definitely a sword cane. If you need a cane, it might has well be an awesome one.

Most likely your store will only have the boring version of the sword cane. This one is also the version which won't make crowds of people stare at you, but still retains some awesomeness by being a sword cane.:


If you want something simple, however, there's always the boring old normal cane:
