The movie was decent and entertaining. But I didn't find the characters too engaging. I got this sense that the story just boiled down to a tale about a selfish and bit arrogant boy who used his self pity to gain the attention of girls. (Much like many of my friends, sheesh)

Sprinkled with some 8 bit culture.

It's not terrible, in fact it's a good basis on how to incorporate game elements into a film (Leaving plenty of room for new movies to fine tune this niche), But it's not the greatest film when it comes to the letdown of story and characters.

But that's just my opinion, haha

I read all the comics at least twice...

I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT!

I've heard nothing but good things about it, but who would with such a great cast and such a great director.

I read there are of course some difference on film from the comic, but that's to be expected.

I JUST CAN'T WAIT THOUGH!

*braces self*
It starts out quite similar to the comics but after volume 2 it changes a lot, although that's mostly due to the time that they were making the film, as in they were making it beofre they ahd finished the comic same as with kick ass. It's very good, while some back story has been cut out it still makes you care about the characters and I think the film is even funnier than the books. I love Wallace in the film. :)

SP won't be released in my country until December, so I pre ordered an imported version of the Blu-Ray, but I wanted the big screen show first.

Ya... I can see you are a huge fan. I saw that movie. It was hilarious, and stayed true to most parts in the comic, but they understandably had to change a few things around. Don't go in expecting the comic to be the same as the film. You will be disappointed and upset. They are going to have differences. But even so, the film is fantastic and you will have no reason not to enjoy it. Micheal Cera haters will tell you that the movie sucks, but they are just being dicks. Ignore them.
[sub]Mind you, a friend of mine is a Micheal Cera hater, liked the film, but didn't like Cera.[/sub]

I've read the comics and watched the movie. The second half of the movie is sooo much different than last 2 books. Still good though. But it didn't have the feeling the last book had.

Get ready for Scott Pilgrim vs. The Bloopers! I still have to check whats available with the Blu-Ray release because if they don't my hope is that they have animated comic version if not similar to how Adult Swim featured that bit from Scott's past then similar to what they did for The Watchmen.

Oh man, that's okay.

And Wallace is one of my favorite characters. This makes me even more jazzed.
Thank you.

Oh, it's okay. I understand that there has to be differences because of time restraints and things of that nature. I hate it when people think that directors should use either the comic or the book as a script for the movie.
And I am actually a big Michael Cera fan, so I guess I will doubly like this movie.

Even if you can get past the terrible acting (I don't think a single female cast member other than Knives even attempts to act) it's still not a fantastic film.
There's also a very thinly veiled irony to it all, yet somehow I don't think the indie kids that love Scott Pilgrim realise that it is essentially taking the piss out of them.
To be honest, I think it's because Knives is a very over-the-top character and needs a little extra effort to play her.

I'm sorry, but I fucking despise Scott Pilgrim. It's, in no way at all, funny. It just makes me angry. I'll probably be called out for this, but I didn't even bother with the movie because I can't stand for Michael Cera. Ever since I saw Year One I can't stand to see his face.
Everyone has a right to their opinion. I actually loved the movie Year One and I have loved Michael Cera ever since Arrested Development. He's very tyecasted but I love the characters he plays. I do think, however, that if was able to play more out there characters (besides just pushover type teenage boy) he'd be a much better actor. He's young and he still has a lot of time to improve himself. A lot of great actors weren't so great when they first started.

This is true and she did a good job of it, but it doesn't excuse the rest of the female cast for being dull and expressionless. Bad acting really takes me out of a movie.
