Relentless apple and kiwi is a regular favourite of mine. Monster and red bull are often far too sweet and makes me feel borderline diabetic just sipping the stuff. It's great for writing aid when your brain decides it prefers catatonia and is less gacky than coffee to endure. But there are quite a few unpleasent carbon copies of cheap/quick energy drink, so there's a higher chance of tasting crap before quality. Similar to finding good horror films.

I like them, but I prefer local store-branded cheap ones that cost 3.99Kn ($0.61) for a 250ml can. Red Bull is some overpriced bullshit and Monster is disgusting.

Have to agree with this. Energy drinks barely have an effect on me, but I enjoy the taste of the store-brand ones from where I'm from. Red Bull, Monster and that kinda stuff just tastes way too over the top compared to that.

What brand and flavor did you buy?
I've tried a few and some can taste bad. Red Bull is very meh to me. Tolerable but the energy boost is extremely exaggerated. Rockstar is bad but it's Fruit flavored one is good. I enjoy a few Monster drinks but their sugar free ones are bland. I like their green, red, purple flavors.

I like redbull it tastes like pineapple. Other than that i drink the citrus or grape amp , the fruit punch or moka rockstars. Or the rockstar with vodka they sell at the liquor stores

I usually dont drink the cheap dollarstore knockoffs unless i am desperate.

To be fair, I've tried about five or six brands and so far they've all tasted like a chemistry lab dumped in a can.
Oh well. Never said everyone would like it. Just that it is premature to call them horrible based on one

Dear lord that smell.
That is the most wonderful smell of candied sour apple. It also makes me crave it. Then again, it helps that sour apple was always my favorite flavor of candy growing up, so that may explain my love of Monster.

I tried drinking a cocaine energy drink at my college. It burned my mouth going down. Apparently it's the equivalent of five Monsters. Not a fan.

In which case that candied sour apple stuff you had as a child is a monstrous (hah) laboratory-born concoction of sugar and additives and oh my God keep that crap away from me. Both the candy and its derivative energy drink.

Then again, to illustrate; I was the kid who was happy when his grandmother gave him a small box of raisins instead of what kids usually crave. Grandma was right, it truly is nature's candy.

I never enjoyed energy drinks but I had them in a pinch because I despise coffee... These days I run off of caffeine pills so I don't have to suffer through either...

Energy drinks have no effect on me at all. A side effect of being given coffee as a nighttime drink when I was still in junior school I suppose.

I do quite like the taste of 'The Doctor' flavour that Monster bring out. The other chefs I work with mainline energy drinks and seem to get really buzzed off of them. They also seem shocked by how many spoons of coffee I have in my drink and still somehow seem tired.
Tolerance is a *****. You do realize that you could just titrate down to a normal dosage, and actually get more of an effect from it?
I've tried cutting caffeine out completely for a month, only to find that when I started drinking coffee again, it still had no effect.

I'd call it an immunity if such a thing could be developed for caffeine.

Which did you drink? Cause if it was like a Rockstar or something, then I understand completely why you hated it. First time I drank a Rockstar I spit it out because I thought I accidentally drank piss.

My two favorites and what I'd recommend are Amp and Monster, all flavored of course. The original are pretty meh. Amp Cherry is very good and pretty much the only one I can enjoy of that. For monster Khaos and Assault are amazing. Khaos is orange flavored and I can't even describe Assault.
I used to be only able to get Rockstar, it's tolerable at best, but tastes like gasoline compared to the other brands. Are the Khaos and Assault watered down like the rehab? I always considered trying them at my old job but after trying a rehab I just stuck with original and the import when they had it.

side not the blue amps taste like a blueberry covered in sugar is raping your taste buds.

I've been meaning to try energy drinks for a while. I've been called in to do early morning shifts at my retail job and I am in no way a morning person. Even with a hot shower and good breakfast I'm still dozing off every few seconds. One of my co-workers suggested I try 5-hour Energy. Not sure if it counts as an energy drink like Red Bull or Monster, but I was wondering if it actually works.

I have a heavy history involving energy drinks. I've tried many kinds from many brands, particularly when I started working. It helped keep me not only energized, but had me think ahead a little. Sometimes too much. Often way beyond rational means. I already had social anxiety, and I already know I'm an absolute moron for thinking energy drinks wouldn't have any effect on that.

But there came a point where I drank too many, both at home and then at work. It worked up to the point where I drank probably two or three a day, sometimes more, and eventually their effects dampened.
I then turned to 5 hour energies. Took one in the morning, then three hours later would down an energy drink.

I actually developed a small heart condition. Too much caffeine, stimulus, or stress can give me heart palpitations, causing me to feel light headed and perhaps pass out. Found that out by passing over on the floor at work.

So did I stop drinking them? Not altogether, no. In fact, my doctor said, while he preferred I'd stop, he didn't think it'd be good for my mind and body to cut out caffeine entirely, cold-turkey, so I was recommended to stick with basic sodas.

Today I drink one maybe...once a week? Sometimes twice, particularly on weekends. Don't touch 5 hour energy shots anymore though.

So do I like the taste? Honestly...not really. Some are alright, but there's this overly sweet, acidic flavor that puts me off sometimes. Though my top three in order are: NOS Energy, Rockstar Fruit Punch, and Monster Citrus.

Any energy drink I've ever tried tasted way too sweet for me.

Besides, I'm always too paranoid to take more than a matter of sips because I'm way more sensitive to caffeine than I should be. I don't drink coffee and I'm very cautious about caffeinated teas, so energy drinks never really appealed to me anyways.

Most energy drinks look and taste like an irradiated piss to me, so i'm not surprised by your reaction. That being said, there are some out there that are OK, as an alternative to coffee.
No longer being sold here, but Mountain Dew branded energy drink was surprisingly good.
I also had a pink champaigne flavored drink called "Blow"(yes, i know, i'm so very manly) recently, and it tasted pretty neat too.

I've tried a few myself, and can say that I've never tasted anything so vile from a can in my life. I just can't hack the smell, let alone the taste. In fact, I even got into after work drinking shenanigans with a colleague who was hooked on them, and I couldn't even hook up with her until she rinsed it out with tequila (which also isn't saying much for the taste of energy drinks).

But yeah, I'll stick to my coffee any day.

Lift+ because has the sweetest taste out of all energy drinks (IMO). It's the only energy drink I actually like. I find Red Bull, V, etc a bit too bitter-tasting to enjoy.
