On Saturday I went to visit a pet breeder that I've been in contact with for a few weeks now to meet my pet-to-be (an african grey parrot if you'd like to know) and decided to top the day off by getting a hot meal rather that cook myself.
So I'm driving down the town looking for a local cafe where I can get a sausage sarnie or whatever and end up passing a KFC restaurant. I had never eaten KFC before but I decided it would be nice just to treat myself for once, boy did I ever regret it.
Immediately after eating it something just tasted a little weird but I didn't think much of it, I figured it was the overuse of grease and oil (which it probably was) and decided to finish it up at home.

To put a long story short, at 3am on Sunday morning I got what was without a doubt the worst food poisoning that I had ever experienced in my entire life. I feel rather embaressed to describe what happened to me but I think it would be a good idea just to serve as a warning to anyone not used to fast food thinking of trying some.
Ok, well it started with me waking up with the uncontrollable urge to puke up and sadly I never made it to the bathroom in time, I figured that was the end of it and I even felt a little better. It wasn't over, the next 24 hours was filled with migranes, chills and a throat red raw from throwing up the whole time. I know that situations like this calls for you to drink fluids but it would only take one sip and I'd be bringing back up. Let me tell you, kneeling over a toilet that was blocked up with your own poo to throw up in is no pleasant experience. Yes, this did include explosive diarrhea which I had never felt before. 10 hours into the ordeal and I had such little energy left that all I could do was lie there messing myself and my floor up.

Strangely enough, after doing a quick google it turns out I'm not the only one to go through this. so escapists, any similar stories to share? I never knew just how bad fast food was for the human body and vow from this day forward never to eat any again. Sure you could adapt to it which I'm sure will be a common excuse, like Africans adapt to dirty, infected water but why should I have to?

Thankfully I feel a little better now as I type this, although I still feel weak and have chills so bad that even my heater at full power does nothing to help.

Oh wow, that is a pretty bad experience.

I agree, if you're not used to fast foods before, having KFC is definitely not the way to go. I had KFC yesterday but I was fine, 'cause I'm used to fast food. Although, sometimes when I have KFC, I do tend to get bad stomach aches.

It's probably one of the worst ones out there, 'cause of all the grease and spices.

I never got food poisoning from kfc but I must say that the two I have been to(one of which is also a long johns) they are remarkably lax on cleaning the tables and floors that they have a sheen of grease on them.

I get sick from eating too much fried food though, course I shouldnt eat that much chicken but hey Im only human.

Oh man, I love KFC. Their zinger tower burgers are delicious.

Also your story amused me greatly. I am a bad man.

I've had fast food many times before and I quite like it, though I've never had much of a thing for fried chicken so the only chance I had to visit a KFC I passed up.

I remember very faintly that KFC was involved in some sort of massive scandal concerning the hygiene in their UK restaurants. Can anyone tell me if im mistaken or not? Just out of interest.
I know I heard of someone finding a chicken head once in their KFC. But KFC have had quite a lot of scandals.

My sister once got food poisoning from a Little Chef when she was about two, she lost a lot of weight and had to go to hospital.

A couple of years ago I was at McDonalds with my family and my step-dad was saying he was going to get a chicken-burger. I said `Don't eat chicken here, you will get food poisoning.`
He didn't listen.
He got food poisoning.

That said, I do have a bit of a thing for junk food. Not so much any more because I cant afford it.

We used to have one kfc in Sweden, but it was closed down by health inspectors if I do not recall wrong.

Back when I graduated from high school I spent a week eating like a complete dumbass.

Got together with a group of friends to hop from graduation party to graduation party eating all sorts of BBQ and pizza and fried foods and soda. Then the next day I went to KFC with a different groups of friends before heading out to the movies where I had a bag of buttered popcorn. Then the day after that I went out with another group of friends for lunch at Deny's.

Normally I don't eat much junk food or fast food, so apparently the sudden massive amount of it I was eating put my internals into a system meltdown.

Ended up in the hospital for four days with acute pancreatitis, enjoying a constant throbbing pain in my side that felt like someone repeatedly stabbing me with a red-hot knife blade while various hospital staff pester me with questions about whether or not I'm an alcoholic (since apparently this sort of thing mostly happens to them) even though I don't drink.

Good times.

I never got food poisoning from anything and I eat a ton of shit, I have an iron stomach. However I will say avoid chicken, my brother worked at fast food for years and that's always the stuff that gets recalled. Most of the time employees don't care and sell it anyways or the the news gets to them too late.

I haven't ever had trouble with KFC...Then again, I haven't eaten there in years, so maybe they did something to !@#$ up the recipe since I last went.

Anyway, my sympathies, OP. I had a similar experience with another kind of food, and I know how bad it sucks.

Basically, I had actual real Ramen for the first time 2 summers ago, and that night, I woke up at 4AM with such stomach craps that I was rolling on the bathroom floor moaning for 2 hours straight, praying for unconsciousness. No vomiting, but I almost tried to induce it, that's how desperate I was getting.

I have never eaten at that restaurant again, and it has scared me away from Ramen forever. Well, aside from the instant noodle kind, which I've been having for years with no problem.

Agreed, that was a pathetic comment, an attempt at garnering more attention. I agree, I cared until I read that. BUT WHY SHOULD I WHO LIVES IN LUXURY HAVE TO DEAL WITH NONSENSE LIKE THIS?! WHAT ABOUT ME? WHY HASN'T ANYONE THOUGHT ABOUT ME?

And I thought that only happened with the KFC in my town, though that does accurately describe my experience with a doner kebab.

This is why I stick to McDonalds 99p Cheeseburgers or Subways when I actually decide to eat fast food.

Well shit, I had KFC for lunch today. Likewise, it is somewhere I never eat at, but my friend wanted to grab something there, so I thought, hell, why not, I'll try it too.

I'm now bracing myself.

Pretty much from "The ordeal" onward made me shudder to think about it. That sounds beyond horrific. Ive had food poisoning kick in in about 12 hours i think? So this isnt disimilar. It was horrible, i managed not to throw up once but only through insane force of will and me sitting on my bathroom floor hyper ventilating for about 10 mins. It actually worked. None the less it was terrible. Came from homecooked burgers. Eugh.

Anyway i tend to avoid fast food. Other than subway sandwidges and Gregs, the former i can get as just salad and cold ham while the latter has an excellent health report where i live and amazingly well done pastry so i give those a pass. Other than that i eat Mcdonalds when im with friends and they demand it. Eaten KFC once. Wouldnt eat again.

I've never had a problem with fast food, as far as I'm aware. Hooray for my superior stomach.
