If you haven't played 3 and one is your first outing, then make sure you finish the water chip quest as soon as possible but the best advice I can give you is do NOT get the caravanners to deliver water to your Vault. Wait until you get the functioning water chip from the other vault. Can't stress this point enough.
If I recall correctly, the last patch for Fallout 1 actually got rid of... that.

OT: Dumb characters are incredibly fun. I mean, ridiculously so. But when I play Fallout games, I usually find that Big Guns are the way to go. But mostly because I likey Miniguns... on civilians... in groups...
No, it didn't. It got rid of the time limit to find the supermutant base and kill everything in sight. The water chip quest still has a time limit (at least the last time I played it only 6 months ago). Once you finish the quest in the initial 300 days, then you're fine to do what you want in game for as long as you like.
-edit- Also, delivering water to your vault cuts the time by about half and makes it much harder to get the water chip.
That...doesen't...make...sense...

I mean is that a bug, becuase from what i skimmed from The Vault (The Fallout wiki) it said it was supposed to add time...

I haven't played the original, but I know that putting all of your skill points and ability points into combat things is a bad idea. Its good to keep things even or within 10 points as your other stats (when not getting any bonuses from items and such.) I also reccommend you go to your local library and use a computer there to print out the manual, or go to a friend and print it.

I also went into a fallout game blind, but it was the third and it's easy.Don't know about the others but the third is relatively easy.
Absolutely EVERYTHING you know about Fallout 3 doesn't apply to one or two at all. They're completely seperate games bar the name and setting.

It does make it harder to get the water chip, but I thought it gave you more time? (I never bought it except my first playthrough when I didn't know better - it really doesn't take that long to get the chip.)

I thought the drawback of buying the water was that it lessened the time for the Super Mutants to come and kill everybody in the Vault? And thus by getting rid of that time limit, they got rid of that drawback?

You're right.. sorry... It does add time to the water quest, but it cuts the time before the super mutants do this: [spoiler\]find your Vault and murder or turn everyone in mutants[/spoiler].

Ah, yes that makes sense, now that you mention it i do recall skiming something about that.

I was just thinking that the it was either a bug, or some sort of newbies trap.

If you see a dog guarding a house. Give him some jerkey or an iguana on a stick. Then meet the most beloved character in Fallout next to the Pipboy.

Honestly though.

Just make sure you pick up at least one combat ability. it's possible to go through the game without fighting but that takes a bit of experience. Then just play the game how you want. That's the way it's supposed to be played, and that's what made the game so unique.

If you pick a melee combat ability make sure you have 8 strength and 8 agility for the best perk.

If you pick a ranged combat ability make it 8 perception and 8 perception.

A high speech and those perks make the game incredibly easy. Anything outside that makes the game more rewarding.

cant give you any hints sorry :C

but i have gone into every game i won more or less blind and its never affected my experience, i have never used a manual to a video game
Save flares, they make great disarming and blinding weaopns if you have any skill in throwing, at 1 AP a throw and medicore skill in throwing you can cripple a deathclaw in a round or 2!!!

Go with basic guns as your main weaopn skill (and energy for the 2nd one)and bartering to back it up so its easier to buy ammo. Also have high luck(6+) it dose some crazy stuff.

Melee,Hand to hand and throwing(as mian skills) are kinda hardcore it takes awhile to get them up,ect they can come in handy if you have a solid main weaopn skill.

Also invest skill points in medical skills you can heal yourself a bit and gain exp, also if you want to do hardcore go with stealing/pickpocketing get it up high and and steal things one time at time it stacks so you can get 1000's of EXP point if you save and load alot, it is tedious tho.

Speech helps make the dailog, story more interesting, most of the magazines you find are either to be sold to soemone or learn from.

Mmmmm what else.......mmmmmmmmmmmmmm if you have party member's always be aware of your cone of fire, busts ect can gib them too 0-o

You might want to save you some frustration and know the general location of the necropolis, also if you spend to much time screw around to much after 10 or so hours of game time the mutants will start taking paces over.

Thats all I got for now.

Oh crap yeah.

DO NOT GIVE ANY PARTY MEMBER A BURST WEAPON.

I usually don't use caps but that's important advice. Unless you like being blown to pieces.

Save often is always a good idea for any RPG.
I have gone into Final Fantasy 13 blind. (seriously my uncle covered my eyes for the whole opening cinematic so i did not know what was going on) Going into a final fantasy game blind does not really matter because its very basic what you need to know but there is always that feeling of "AH I forgot about that item" and you have to make the trek back to Mt. Doom yada yada...Also i went into fallout 3 blind and BOY WHAT FUN THAT WAS! >_<
I didnt go into it blind but I was hoping it would be more polished and less....well......less.....

Small guns, hunting rifle. You will outrange most of your enemies and get eye/head shots easier. And because you use single shots you will burn very little ammo.

The small frame trait drawback isn't noticeable and gets you a free agility point.

Another thing, gifted trait is worth is because you can add enough of the extra point into INT to almost make up for skill loss, but skilled isn't worth it because perks are really valuable.

My favorite perk is probably the one that lets you move 2 spaces for free every turn. I think that is more valuable than action boy 90% of the time, but if you already have it then action boy is more valuable rather than doubling the movement one.

Luck is not really an imporatant stat and make sure you have lots of agility and intelligence.

Also the Fallout wiki (AKA the Vault) is the best place for all your information needs in the fallout universe from 1 to 3 (including the spin offs).

I want to buy this game but I quite seriously don't meet minimum spec.
if you didn't meat minimum spec you wouldn't meat minimum spec for your browser
I checked the specs. It requires ATI Radeon x1200. I have ATI Radeon 7000. I get lag spikes on HL1 when explosions happen.
