I want this:

The top line of symbols
u sir, are a stargate fan and therefore i salute you

OT: i am also thinking about getting a tatoo, and the same reasons limit me, just go with what you want i think, because at the end of the day it's your body on which the ink shall be not anyone elses, and i guess u could always donate twice as much blood next year when u can again?

Don't get a Triforce tatoo, that is often a tramp stamp in my town
A triforce tramp stamp? that's an unusual one.
That would be rather unusual. Crest of Hyrule on the lower back would be a tad wierder. I've seen pics of that.

Truthfully, I don't think the lower back is a good place for a tattoo.

I have a tattoo that goes all the way from just below the collar line, down my spine to near my arsular region. But it wasn't the first design I had considered getting. My advice if you are unsure about it is to print off a picture of whichever design(s) you want or think might work, stick them up on your wall where you will see them every day and see whether you get sick of it/them or not. Chances are you might not like it after a week or so, otherwise you know you will probably be able to stand it for the rest of your life (or at least as long as you have that patch of skin).

Ultimately it is up to you though, if you ask anywhere online you will get people in support of tattoos and those who think they are stupid and make you look like an idiot (some tattoos do though). As one who is inked up I say go for it, but I guess I'm biased.

EDIT: Oh, and if you are getting anything with any amount of detail involved, make sure to find a decent artist to do it and don't just settle with the first or cheapest one you find. It could be an expensive mistake to fix if it turns out to be awful.

I would say make sure it has personal meaning to you, and you won't ever regret getting it.

My girlfriend got a tattoo of Alice done by Sir John Tenniel on her forearm - it looks really cool, the tattoo artist is really skilled. But, more importantly the story had personal meaning to her - it's a story about a young woman becoming empowered.

Personally I want to get a tattoo of one of Alphonse Mucha's posters - I'm having trouble settling on one though.

I must be one of the few guys in the world who would consider getting something like this somewhere on their body:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us [http://imageshack.us]

The main thing holding me back is that I've not been able to find someone able to re-imagine it in a more badass/ tattoo-ie way. This is the most aggressive depiction I could find (Ironically, it seems, on a stained glass window.). I was thinking of getting it either on my hip (Below the trouser line), shoulder, or the back of my neck. Just the dove, though, in black and white. Keeping it small and tasteful.

have you ever thought of getting an invisible ink tattoo? im going to get my right hand and forearm as a skeleton design. plus side: if you get a job that requires hiding your tattoo, it's invisible to regular light; downside: it's invisible in regular light [needs a flourescent light ("black light")] laser tag here i come!! XD

If you really want one go for it its your body and your choice if nay sayers scream and wine in there dull little corners who cares? At least your doing something with your life. However if your 'on the fence' with the idea of getting one give it a while so you know for sure. AND ALWAYS GET A GOOD ARTIST TO DO IT. Drive for miles if you have to.

Believe it or not...I have never heard of that.

Invisible ink? That sounds interesting, to say the least.

Get the tattoo. Fuck what anyone says, it's your body. LIVE WITH NO REGRETS. You could die tomorrow, might as well look awesome.

Anyways! I have a tattoo of a phoenix on my back. I plan on getting Yoshi a few inches below my left wrist, the Hyrule crest on my hip, and a Carl Sagan quote on my right forearm.

NO REGRETS.

The logical action would be not to get one.

Since tattoo's are permanent, but your interests/tastes/whatever else inspires tattoos are not, the logical action would be NOT to get one.
Yes, and some day you're going to die and all your shit will be literally wasted. Your furniture, your house, your money, much of it on your own fucking funeral, and some dipshit might even get his or her hands on your stuff.

In short, live life a little. You're going to die anyways, so might as well die with a few scars. Don't die a blank slate.

Although personally I do not think your two choices are very good, OP. But I might be biased against video game tattoos or overly obvious book-related tattoos.
Oh I'm not against living life a little, I just can't think of any legitimate reason to get a tattoo, other than the 'thrill' factor. Go skydiving or something, go rob a bank, lol. I personally find tattoo's as a sign of weakness, kind of like giving into peer pressure or something like that. Rarely do people 'enjoy' their tattoo's years ahead in their life.

I have one. It's pretty shit. My friend did it about 3 months after he started tattooing on real people.

It's a panther. I'm getting it touched up though soon, and an owl added to the mix. Wisdom fighting determination.

Or at least, that's what I want it to mean.

Seriously why would you post that on here? You must know by now how judgemental the people on here are of smokers, drinkers, people with tattoos, people with piercings, people who smoke weed and so on.

Half the replies will be telling you tattoos are bad or for losers or for insecure people or whatnot.

Anyway, I agree with Erana, if you are unsure then don't do it, I never advise getting one if you don't have the spare cash. I got one when I was 18 and haven't had one since largely because I don't have the money to burn on something I don't need like that.

Wait until you have the spare cash, then see if you still want one. As for the donating blood argument, that rule will apply forever, so if you want one badly enough then get it, then after a year start donating again.
you know try reading the replies before posting things like what you just wrote...because now your the one who's judgmental of the community.

OP: I would recommend the LOTR tattoo, only because I like Tolkien's work way too much.

I think you should get a Chinese symbol tattoo that you don't really understand. Those are all the rage these days!

it's starting to get more popular, mostly for ravers, (im not a raver, but i think it's still cool) there is some information on this style here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UV_tattoo , (i know wikis aren't the best source for info, but it's still good).
