It really depends on what kind of anime person you are. If you're into anime for the cool fight-scenes and crazy aesthetic, then there's a good chance it will be %100 up your alley. If you're into anime for an actual story and character development, then you're going to hate the show. Personally I'm the "Story-&-Character-Development" type, which means I HATE IT WITH THE PASSION OF A THOUSAND FIRES!!! (Okay, maybe that's a hyperbole, but I still don't like it.)

Loved this series to death. Has four parts, 52ish episodes, all of which are on Netflix, if you have it. Great charecters, and some great easter eggs for fans of other animes, like Dragonball Z. Action is fantastic, along with the art direction, and the charecters really grow on you. The soundtrack is pretty decent as well. This was one of the few animes I could really get into, and so I of course highly recomend it. :) Hope you enjoy it!!

This AMV gives a more accurate representation of the series:
It has nice action scenes, but I found the attempts at humour very grating. I have only watched the first couple of episodes because of this, so hopefully things improve.

It's pretty good actually, it's one of those anime that ends before the manga though so the ending will feel rushed.

The only real difference between the Dub and Sub is that Black Star sounds a tad more annoying in the Dub

Cool video, but i found the anime not quite as well done as the (unfinished) manga. Then again, i don't really like many animes over their mangas, as voice actors generally tend to remove the whole you-control-what-character-x-sounds-like thing. Like FMA, for example; Al's voice in the anime just felt weird after having read the entire series in an echo-y teenager's voice.

If you're not bothered by the almost complete lack of anything even vaguely resembling depth, it's decent action fare with a fun stylistic element. You could do a lot worse. But you could do a lot better too.

I LOVE Soul Eater. I like all of the characters, since they each are very unique but funny in their own way. It has a lot of comedy, as well as action. I'm currently on the 22 episode, and I hope to finish it at some point.

I will add that I mostly watch subs, but I've seen a few episode and scenes in the dub. The voices aren't bad, and do fit the characters well enough. I just prefer the subs. You should try one or two episodes in both subs and dubs, and see which you like better. Then continue from there in whichever you chose. That's my advice.

Great anime. Dr. Stein's entrance is sooo good.

The ending is a bit rushed and a cop out.

But the action and comedy is great. Especialy with Death the Kid and Black Star.

Beginning through to the middle was great. Then it started getting to the ending. Stein's falling into madness was crazy good, but the ending ruined the whole thing.

In short - good at first, becomes a monstrous pile of shit later.

So, while screwing around on Youtube, I found a really cool video:

Now, I'd heard of Soul Eater before, but I never really paid any attention to it. This video makes me think I should give it a look. So, is Soul Eater any good?

Is it one of those series like Dragonball Z or One Piece where they just go on and on forever and never know when to stop? Cause I'm not looking for a SUPER-long anime right now.

Also, is there any significant difference between the sub and the dub? (please only answer if you're unbiased in this regard. If you're the kind of person who ONLY watches subs, or ONLY watches dubs, don't feel obligated to answer this one.)
The manga is much deeper than the anime and is ongoing with 81 issues so far. The entire anime has been realeaced for free by the american disturdubters on Youtube in both subbed and dubbed versons. I'd recomened the anime for something fun. the manga is sometimes experimental in it's art style with full colour and abstract pages appering periodicly. Don
t be put off by the first three episodes. They are all Retconned by episode for and serve no pupouse other than pointless fanservise and charicter introduction.

OT: Is that that Marilon Manson AMV you've posted? That's how I got into SE!

It's good. 51 eps long so not terrible. The ending isn't that great but I was ok with it for the most part.

The manga's still ongoing and is a lot better. If you enjoy the anime up until the ending give the manga a go as well.

It's an entertaining show. Of course, it's aggresively juvenile and very childish and it's attempts at humor tend to be very grating, but it does succeed at building tension and drama. The tone is rather inconsistent and a scene can sometimes turn from deathly serious to silly cartoonishness and vice versa. When Soul Eater does get serious or dramatic, the soundtrack usually changes from childish pop music to bone chilling live orchestral pieces.

Overall, it's a pretty unique show and you should atleast give it a look.

it started out a bit rough but then it got really good up till the end, which I thought was pretty damn lame
I agree I loved the anime but that final episode was a cop out. Haven't checked out the manga yet.
