I loved it. I haven't read the Manga yet, though, but I've been meaning to since the Anime deviates from the Manga at some point.

<3 Death the kid :) Definitely one of my favorite anime/manga, hopefully, there will be a reboot once the story of the manga is concluded.

It's good, but the ending sucks. If you care enough I'd suggest picking up the manga when the story deviates after the 3rd box.

from what ive seen, it kinda seems like another bleach or naruto...then again, most modern mainstream anime does

I would say it's closer to Full Metal Alchemist than Bleach, Bleach will keep dragging on until the mangaka dies or get killed in a freak accident (think meteor crashing on him). The Naruto manga is however quite good, both in terms of story progression and battles.

Decent Anime at the least. Fun characters, even if not all of them are super deep. Good action and a pretty solid score. One thing I will say is that you should skip non plot essential episodes that involve Exaclibur if you have any respect for or liking of your sanity.

My second favourite anime after FMA, although I never got quite to the end (I have about five episodes left but I haven't watched it for over a year now, I need to catch up!)

Apart from the stylish aesthetic (a little more so than most anime) Soul Eater's best point is probably its characters; none of them are forgettable, they're not necessarily all likeable but they're all AWESOME in some way or other.

OH GOD it's good. Though it has the same problem as Fullmetal Alchemist, the series was still going while making the anime, so it's an original ending, which usually means it's not as good as the actual intended story. Still great though, one of my favourite Bones anime.

I'd recommend checking out the manga after too

If you want something relatively short, watch the series. If you want something a bit better, read the manga.

It's an interesting series with bits of humor here and there. The anime follows the same course as the manga for a while, but it loses momentum towards the end as it changes tracks. The manga updates monthly, so the pacing could be hard to deal with, but unlike the anime, it maintains its flavor and remains enjoyable even as time passes. It can get a bit creepy at times, but I would definitely recommend it.

Yeah, it's worth looking at.

The series is kind of strange in how it handles mental illness, though...

In Soul Eater, it's possible to be 'infected' with Insanity, the monsters (Kishin) give of Madness Wavelengths, which can drive people insane if the Kishin is powerful enough, Death the Kid and Black*Star get their powers upgraded by the Madness at one point...

I'd recommend the manga over the anime, but eh.

Death the Kid is my favorite character.

Okay, just so you know going in, this is totally a rant.

I was absolutely ecstatic about Soul Eater when I began watching it. It had characters, humor, action, and best of all personality. It was at episode 16 that things started to change for the worse and they only continued to go downhill. Everything about the show that's good is lost. The plot becomes padded and ultimately goes nowhere satisfying, it becomes blisteringly stupid, its great characters either change to become unlikable or are forgotten about, and it's got two of the worst villains ever. Aracnophobia? She's basically a bad comic book villain. Asura? I still know little about him. Details are sparse and unsatisfying. He's powerful but there is NOTHING about him that makes him an interesting villain (his philosophies don't even work in a twisted way, they just make no sense). We never learn much of anything about this world or its history. Consequently, neither villain is developed. You know who was a good villain, the very first one! And she actually becomes a better villain over time contributing a few morsels of enjoyment to an otherwise boring, stupid show.

*sigh*

I'm still upset over this. There's hardly a show I'm more personally attached to than Soul Eater while it was actually good. If I could magically make one show not suck it would be this one. I can recommend the early episodes only.

The anime was pretty but it had one of the worst endings EVER
...so watch the anime then read the Manga (the anime breaks follows the manga to a tee until around episode 15, which is when it started getting...less good), but yeah it's quite good (the manga I mean), very original art style and story.

I started watching it a while ago, and it's pretty good.
I'm sure the Manga is better though, and I will check it out later.

For a light-hearted anime with a grim premise, it's alright. Keep in mind it ain't Naruto or BLeach (A good thing to me because you can't finish those in one childhood), but as a medium length series, it proves pretty good.

ALSO THAT MARYLIN MANSON MIX OF HALOWEEN IS ORGAZMIC!!!!!
I think that they need to revise the movie and put that in instead!!!!! NOM NOM NOM!!!!

I like it.
I mostly just hate that FiOs doesnt pay attention to their descriptions, since they call Chrona a girl, when they say Chrona is a he. (Atleast in the anime)

Ironically, episode 16 is the Flying Dutchman episode...which means that it's where the anime diverges from the manga. (Technically it REALLY starts diverging at the 'Recover BREW!' arc, but most of the episode never occurred and Crona killed the Dutchman in the manga.)

Really, go for the manga! The mangaaaaa!

Crona's gender is never revealed. (Even the mangaka said he doesn't know or care)

The reason they switch between 'he' and 'she' is because Japanese has non-gendered pronouns, which they use when referring to Crona. The only person who would know Crona's gender, his/her mother Medusa, calls Crona an 'it'.

MYSTERY!
