last night he went missing around 6:00pm and didn't come back all night. The next morning me and my dad went looking for it and were told that it had got ran over, we showed the witness pictures and he confirmed it. We still can't find its body because some prick moved it.

He was only coming up 2 years old and I am just really shocked I didn't expect it coming, or for him to die so soon.

How do I cope with something I can't even comprehend?

yeah its a shame, but what can you do? Life goes on, You could always try and save another cat by getting one from the pound. That's where I have gotten all of my cats.

This may sound like you're disrespecting it, but go to an animal shelter, and find a cat that was abandoned or mistreated, and give it a good life. Look at it as honoring it's memory by giving another animal a good life, or maybe even saving it from being put down.

Again, you might not want to do that, but seriously, another animal will really, really help.

I'm sorry. I remember we had a cat get hit. The person who hit it was a bro who ran a stop sign in front of my parents house. He didn't kill the cat, though, but she wasn't going to recover from her injuries. I had to put the cat down with a rock while my dad was ragin' at the the driver and my little brother was crying. I was so furious at the bro, but he didn't speed away. He came back and put the cat into a bag, and apologized profusely.

Later that night we buried the cat in our backyard. The saddest part was that her brother would go and lay on the mark in the road where she was hit.

We later adopted a young female kitten, and the male cat had a new sister. They're quite cute together - like Tweedledee and Tweedledum.

Wait it out. I know that sounds like me being a knobhead, but I lost a cat and a dog this year, so I'm speaking from experience.
I say don't hold back with anything. Have a cry, get angry about how the world isn't fair and get it all off your chest. In a couple of months time, you'll be able to look back at all the good times you had with the little fluffy bugger and smile about it.

Sorry for your loss an' all that as well.

Be glad "that prick" moved him.
I had to personally scrape my cat off the road. The smell was unbelieveable.
He was partially frozen, too. He shouldn't have made that smell.
I kept washing, but I couldn't get the stench off my hands and chest for days.

That was a little different, though. He was old. Nearly fifteen. That's why he got hit.
My condolences, regardless.

Pets die. Just listen to some music or play some games. You didn't need us to tell you how to cope, you just wanted the attention.

Well.. Sorry for your loss. Hate to hear about cats dying as that is one thing I do genuinely love is cats. (caring for 1 inside and 7 outside cats atm)

Would say this, given that the cat was outside i am assuming it was at least partially an outside cat, which outside cats life expectancy generally hovers right around the two year mark.

If you are going to share your life with a pet, if at all possible, share your home. Keep them inside. Keeps them from getting injured or killed by man made means such as cars, or natural means such as other cats and predators.

And do as others have suggested, go to a shelter, find one there, because there are so many that need good homes, who are basically sitting on deaths door in shelters.

I'm so sorry for you but it happens to us all (kind of) and we have to live life on with out our beloved friends. It's a harsh thing that can happen without notice;I lost my dog just a month ago after our vacation but i know that i would have to go on without her. Its sad and i hope you would recover in time to.

Wow i guess you never had a pet ....or a friend
Dude, you are a bit of a jackass... Its a fact of life that pretty much any pet you have is not going to outlive you, unless you want a parrot or a tortoise. I have had several die on me, and yeah, it made me sad, but I got over it. In fact, I had to put down one of my cats about 2 months ago, because he either ate lilys or drank antifreeze (not quite sure where he found it at, we didnt have any open containers of it anywhere).

Dedicate your life to hunting down and torturing the killer. It's the only way...

Sorry for your loss. If its any consolation, I know how you feel. One of my older cats went missing once. Turns out he got eaten by one of the many creatures living in the woods near me.

Its sucks, it really does.

Nice try but I've had 4 cats get killed by being run over.

'A' for effort.

Get another one.

Time is a great healer. The only healer of such things, but getting another one can dull the pain. Especially doing something like other posters have said.
Get one who is going to be put down or is impounded.

I'd just like to add my condolences to those of the other responders.

When you're ready (and as others have suggested), have a look at your local RSPCA shelter. I'm sure that a little bundle of claws and fur or two will do their best to claim you.

Ok, ok, I'm biased towards the society, but I've worked for 'em for years, can ya blame me? Cats are actually my area of expertise, so feel free to pm me if you have any questions or need some advice about choosing the right animal or training methods and so on.
