As Yahtzee would probably say they've left themselves with nowhere to go. What's next Bioshock Infinity plus one?

In fact why is it even called Bioshock anything? How is this connected to the first 2 games?
Bioshock 2 doesn't really count, made by different people. And well..an idealized city built up only to fall due to the imperfections of man. If you want to get philosophical about it..which is what it intends haha.

I'm looking forward to this though, my and my gf are going to most likely get the songbird edition.

Can't say I'm excited. I was sucked in by the themes and screenshots of Bioshock too, but that game was a crushing disappointment. This one looks even less interesting so I think it's safe to say I'm not going to get it.

Bleh.

Just bleh. I love the gameplay video they released however long ago in the summer. That just turned me off the game.

Still getting it, but that trailer could have been so much better. Isn't Bioshock games more than just loud music and a few action shots?

Unsure tbh, maybe they are doing the Final Fantasy thing, it's the themes and powers that make it a Bioshock game, dunno.

Oh come now I was 11 when I played Doom and I managed to never chainsaw any of my neighbors to death (rip and tear! rip and tear their guts!)

On topic the trailer was nothing special but hey doesn't make the game look any worse so still excited.

If anything, this put them in a better position than if Infinite was in Rapture or somehow connected to Ryan.

They can do pretty much any setting they want at any point in alternative past history and still call it "Bioshock", as long as it has political commentaries and a mix of weapons and powers. They can even release System Shock 3 and call it "Bioshock Future"...

I liked the first game. I thought the second game was kinda sucky. It had somewhat better gameplay but other than that, it lost everything that made the first game great.

I didn't have high hopes for Infinite. But I must admit the trailer looks pretty good. I guess I'll keep an eye out. Maybe not a day one purchase, but probably a game I'll eventually get.

Still pissed they dropped the weapon system down to just carrying two weapons at a time. But besides that, looking forward to it.

Eh, I'm sort of looking forward to it. I enjoyed Bioshock 1 overall, but I felt it was way longer than it needed to be. It could have ended right after your meeting with Andrew Ryan and would have been just as good. Bioshock 2, while also enjoyable, felt rather pointless to me.

This game looks neat, but after the past two games I think I'll wait for a price drop or two before buying.

Do you really think that the tone they set in this one trailer is going to be representative of the entire game?

You were 12 when the game came out? What the hell is a 12 year old doing playing Bioshock? The game was rated bloody M. Here in the UK, the BBFC rated it 18. And I'm not surprised at all. It's a great game, but it's not the sort of thing I'd want any twelve year old to be playing, just like I wouldn't want them to watch a Mad Max film or an Evil Dead film. When I was 12, I was still playing Pokemon for chrissakes.

Dare I ask whether you bought the game yourself, or whether your parents bought it for you? Because if it's the latter, that's exactly the sort of ignorant behaviour that is causing so much trouble for gaming in the first place.
Oh, come on now. Are you really trying to claim the moral high ground by saying you never played any mature games till you were 18?

OT: Anyways... The game looks fun. I thought the original Bioshock was a tad bit over rated, but I've been following this game for a while, and Ken Levine seems like a pretty bright guy.

oh yes because everyone everywhere follows ratings and guidelines set /sarcasm

I played resident evil at age 5 and saw nightmare on elm street and ticks at age 4, and what do you know, i'm a perfectly normal human being. Crazy!

OT: I hated the first bioshock, but this doesn't look too bad, I'll have to pay attention more to it when it comes out.

There's a difference between starting to play more mature titles like Splinter Cell and Halo when you're turning 15/16, and playing something like Bioshock when you've only just started High School.

Whenever gaming gets dragged into the House of Parliament or before the Senate over its apparent 'damaging' effects on young players, the response gamers always give is that it;s up to parents to not be shitty, and to ensure their kids are not playing games that are unsuitable for them.

As far as I'm concerned, Bioshock is not suitable for someone who's only just left primary school. Not only are the themes and ideas way beyond what any Year 7 student is going to be able to understand, but being presented with choices like whether to bludgeon a Little Sister to death or not are choices that only adults should be presented with.
Lol no. That was one of my main gripes with Bioshock: despite all the hype, it actually wasn't brilliant in its political stuff. It was the standard criticism and rather simplistic. A 12 year old should definitely be able to understand it if he or she is interested in these kind of things.
I played GTA2 when I was 10 years old. Can't say it shook me. It all depends on the person playing, I guess.
(I got the copy from a friend of mine, my parents probably wouldn't have accepted my playing it had they known what kind of game it was!).

The problem with that is that the age rating are general guidelines for parents who don't know how to judge the games for themselves. If you are a gamer then you should be giving anything you're not sure about a run through yourself and judge if it's ok for your particular child's maturity level.

They don't all develop that ability to handle things at the same rate you know and it's lazy to let other people pick what is and isn't good for your child for you. (You know developmentally not like safe levels of lead/christianity exposure)

One year without much word on a game? Pah. Try being eager for Final Fantasy Versus XIII for more than a couple months. Now THAT is faith-shaking.
I see your FF Versus XIII and I raise my Kingdom Hearts 3. Check and mate.
In fairness, KH III never "died" the same way Infinite or Versus did. Yeah, a sequel is LONG overdue and we probobly won't see it for some time yet, and even though there have been no proper reveals, Nomura has stated numerous times that it IS coming. There's even a (not very subtle) message in the credits of KH 3D that blatantly says as much. Versus and (for a while) Infinite just faded into oblivion.

Anyway, to be honest, I've never been a fan of Bioshock; not even the first. The story was good of course, but the gameplay was clunky and the atmosphere was dull after about 10 minutes in. In my opinion.

I don't know what to think of Infinite though. The grappling things look like fun, and the environment is freakin' awesome, but everything else looks standard. I'll definitly rent it at some point, regardless.
