These guys do often get caught with their pants down. Back when I still played, I got hacked twice. The first time, my mining skill went from 300-something to maxed out, and he left a ton of ore behind. Second time, I found myself sitting on an incredible amount of titansteel and saronite, and did eventually get my gear back.

But, again, that was a long time ago.

I should buy an authenticator for some added security, but I just know Ile lose the damn thing XD..
The physical ones have a keyring attachment, so you can attach them to other things, such as keys or a massive fluorescent lanyard to help you find it.
If you have a spiffy enough phone, you can use the phone authenticator.

For those celebrating the free time they get - I wouldn't be so happy about it. Certainly a lot of these details are stolen ones (why risk your own money?) so you maybe stealing money off an innocent person.

Then again, if they've been buying gold, they may kinda deserve it, but you can't guarantee where the cc numbers were harvested from.

Among other things, he also seemed to have had about an extra 6000 gold..and like an additional 2000 gold worth of pets and trade goods. they use your friggin characters as trade bots. Oh, I just went and checked the payment history again, and it actually was listed as "30 day Gamecard (Online Store), 15 bucks. I must have been so tired I misread it. Think its worth contacting blizzard to report that? As much as I love the free month, I would rather pay for it myself then get banned for taking his XD.
You must contact Blizzard if you have gotten new stuff with hackers or something like that. Otherwise, the hacker might tell them first, you get blamed and you can't prove your innocence. At least that's how I figured it out. You have to report, anyway.

EDIT: You might also want to check this out.

And if your so smart to not click on links, you can go to www.pcgamer.com, search for world of warcraft, and eventually it should come up.

Yeah I decided to call blizzard today to report the card just incase, they took away the prepaid time and asked me to put a card on the account for security reasons XD..no big deal, its a hell of alot better than getting blamed for a card theft. Plus the guy was really nice and commended me for reporting it early in :p. lawlz.

Speaking of fake Blizzard emails I kept getting emails saying things like my WoW password has been changed and the like. I never had a WoW account so I called Blizzard. They told me to add them to my blocked list. Worked perfectly.

OT: Stories like this one make my happy inside.

Given the circumstances, I don't think anyone at Blizzard would have penalised you for keeping the game time.

I guess that bastard will be pretty hacked off then huh.
Your a bad person for that pun.

OT: Well, that sure is a funny story. Glad it wasn't any worse than it could have been.

If I could, I would make it so whoever hacks my stuff gets flooded with shock-porn.

I just got it back XD..I was half asleep and noticed my phone beeping, I checked it, and it had an Email from my account mentioning a password change, I closed it then went to go check my Email, but this email was nowhere to be found, and a new adress had been added as a secondary to my account, so Im assuming they got into my Email ( I was enough of a retard to have the password for WoW and my email to be the same) and deleted it, I couldnt get into my account, so I filled out a form on their website, answered the recovery question, got the account back, changed my password for my WoW account and Email.

So thats the basic part of it, I had no idea what was really going on but I did all of this for security reasons, I havnt played in months but was thinking of starting up again.
Now heres the interesting part, when I went to go tinker with the launcher, it let me log in, my account ran out of time 4 days ago, it turns out it had a gamestop pre paid card added to it 20 minutes ago, sure enough, I log in and all my characters are standing by mailboxes half naked, about 40% of their gear vendored.

So..I could be wrong, but I think I logged in on him WHILE he was looting me. and as a side effect, ninjad his pre paid card. And when I reclaimed the account, it also filed an item recovery ticket to get all my stuff back, so that's probly gonna be resolved in a few days too.

I know that you guys probly don't care about my personal life or warcraft for that matter, but Im just happy as hell thinking of this hacker stomping around in anger and how he just got owned. :p (Totally just jinxed myself, watch it got powerhacked again tommorow.)
Same thing happened to me awhile ago. I got my account back, but I got none of my gear back. The only thing they gave me was a few thousand gold because the bastard that stole my account was a gold farmer. I had nothing but my underwear and a mining pick. On the upside my mining skill was completely maxed out.

I don't even have a WoW account, but my email is still flooded with spam attempting to obtain its password xD. Awesome story! Glad you were able to intervene on the hacking process.

First, scan all of your stuff with anti-malware and anti-virus. You got a keylogger, and it's probably buried in good. If you don't get rid of it, he'll just take it again. I would recommend Malware Bytes. It's good stuff.

Second, he's got an email tied to it, too. So when you change the password, he gets a message that lets him change it again, too. need to get that taken care of.

Lastly, it you are worried at all about your account, get yourself an authenticator. They make a world of difference, trust me.

I wish you best of luck.

Something like this happened to me. I got hacked, and a couple days later unhacked. I was able to recover all my gear and gold (and even auction a bunch of stuff the hacker had gathered) but he'd also picked up a Super Simian Shpere and the item restore got me a second Quel-Delar on my Death Knight. Too bad he couldn't do that on my warrior so I could actually dual wield them.
