Sigh. Even with all the explaining you did, it still seems that the first few people didn't get your point. Luckily I do, and I applaud you for trying such a fragile idea. I think you're right, the world would probably fall apart.unabomberman said:If this becomes a rehashed religion flaming thread I urge the mods to immediately kill this thread. As easy as that.

I already worship Adrian Peterson. Who needs a God when you have football?Erana said:You post this but don't want religious debate?
Really, all of the holy figures' fanboys would find something else to obsess over. Like politics and football.
Most of 'em never really got the point of religion, anyway.
The people who did get religion, and were confronted with something that completely forced them to disbelieve in their dieties, would still follow in their footsteps, doing what would be prescribed by the religion.
I suggest you look up Nietzsche ubermenchunabomberman said:Yellow. It's me again.
I'd just like to say that I have read every post up to this point and that I do appreciate all of them very much. I found what has been written in this little exercise to be very interesting and informative, but more than that, I found it even more interesting and informative what hasn't been written.
interestingly enough people refused to engage in the excercise, which is fine, and among them some even got outwardly annoyed, and dare I say just a wee bit belligerent. Why? Is it stupid to just ask a question? Is it so obvious that this topic is not to be touched for fear of offending someone's sensibilities? Is this kind of topic just unbecoming of a properly behaved forum member?
Ones may find this thing silly and beneath them, and others may not; but still, I was curious and felt like asking.
People should just calm down a little and stop being so defensive.
First, that wasn't exactly the context in which he said it as far as my understanding goes(related to the ubermensch).jamesworkshop said:I suggest you look up Nietzsche ubermenchunabomberman said:Yellow. It's me again.

The rise of the overman
God is dead
God is dead is the idea that god or religion is no longer a basis for morality thus most people will struggle to control themselves (your original post) the ubermench is the one who survives the period by creating thier own set of values based on human ideals its an aditional topic but very relatedunabomberman said:First, that wasn't exactly the context in which he said it as far as my understanding goes(related to the ubermensch).jamesworkshop said:I suggest you look up Nietzsche ubermenchunabomberman said:Yellow. Second, people in its entirety don't believe that so I also liked to hear what they had to say.
Just that.
